Failed to Disclose ongoing renovations

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: The room was reasonably clean and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was included in the price.
Cons: Customer relations are just awful. See my comments in the experience heading.
Location: In the Silver Lake area. Not much to do in this area, but I chose it specifically so that I could be close to my son who was living nearby.
When I booked this several months in advance the hotel failed to disclose there were ongoing renovations. And subsequently when I arrived the corridors were a real mess, plastic sheeting on the floors, fresh paint being applied daily, hammering with repairs. The smell of the paint in my room was overpowering. I attempted to book another place in the area but was unsuccessful. The banging started as early as 7:45 a.m. and the smell of paint seeped into the room and was very uncomfortable. The hotel manager subsequently called me and offered me a 10% discount on my stay, but failed to explain why the renovations were not disclosed in advance and failed to even apologize. In fact she blamed me for not taking more proactive steps to book elsewhere. Unfortunately, it was a case of "blaming the victim". Be careful of this place!

Nice hotel close to food and attractions

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: I like the location because its pretty close to the places that i planned to go and how clean the room is.
Cons: Parking lot should be bigger. After coming back from a night out there was only 1 spot left and it was a tight squeeze.
Location: Hollywood is only a few miles away. Good eateries close by. Dodger stadium wasn't too far either.
When I first got to the hotel my first impression was that the place looks old and strange that it doesn't have its own parking lot for guest who are staying there. After checking in and asking about the parking situation I realize that they have their own personal parking garage that requires you to swipe your hotel key to get in and plenty of cameras are installed to insure that your car will be safe. When I finally got to the room I was surprise on how big and clean it is. The room have a fridge, microwave, tv, and plenty of space to put your stuff as well as outlets to charge your phones and laptops. Remodeling was being done in the hotel but noise level was minimal. I love how there are so many food locations available that are accessible by walking. Overall excellent location to stay at because its not far from downtown and hollywood.

Right on Sunset Blvd

Pros- free parking; clean; not a noisy neighborhood; complimentary breakfast with juices, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal and more. Cons- beds were extremely firm (unless that's how you like your mattress); pillows had a softer and firmer choice, but both were very lumpy.

Perfect for Business

They were doing renovations, but it wasn't disruptive for my schedule which consisted of leaving by 8 AM and returning around 11 PM. The parking downstairs gets locked after 11 which was a little inconvenient but not unexpected, and luckily no issues with parking outside. Breakfast was terrific and for the price a wonderful perk. The manager was very friendly and I had no issues with the staff. The only real downside is that the walls are pretty thin. If you're a light sleeper you might have some issues if your neighbors are noisy and up at all hours but otherwise this is a great deal located at a great location.

great value

upon arrival, we noticed they were painting about half of the rooms and the hallways were covered in plastic but this did nothing to decrease the pleasure of our stay. our room was freshly painted and very clean. the hotel overall was clean and staff were very friendly. would definitely stay here again, 10 mins from hollywood/ highland as well as universal.

The staff didn't care that I had a problem, didn't try to help me and wouldn't give me a receipt at checkout.

Lecture was inappropriate

Posted Jan 4, 2014
Pros: It was convenient to North Hollywood, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful.
Cons: Bigger bed pillows and a cleaner bathroom.
Location: Although I did not have time to explore on this trip, it is near Echo Park and Silver Lake.
Our overall stay was fine, and the staff at the main desk were friendly. I was disappointed when I reported the bathtub plug would not work. While a maintenance person was sent up right away, he seemed very annoyed to be there and proceeded to lecture me about filling the tub too high and how it would leak to the room below. I told him I hadn't even taken a bath because the plug would not work, but he repeated his lecture and then changed the plug. Finally, he lectured me on how to work the plug. The front desk was apologetic when I reported this incident.
