Great hotel, nice pool, walk to nearby food option

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Pool, rooms - sofa/bench, mini-fridge
This was our 2nd stay in the last 5 weeks. Nice pool that isn't crowded. Rooms are good sized. The little sofa/bench area really adds seating space when you have 2 adults and 2 kids in a room. Rooms have mini-fridges which is great for kids snacks. We walked to dinner/lunch nearby. We also found a park about 5 mins away for the kids to play after dinner. We'll be back again for sure!

The hotel was nice! The staff was great and it was very family friendly. It was nice to get away from the craziness of the big city and stay in a quiet area. Tons of restaurants and stores very nearby. The only thing that could have been improved is the cool air in the rooms.

My stay

I love the bed level of comport, but the staff is knocking too early to clean the room. People are too noisy outside the room late night. Kids running around the hallway.

Nice Hotel and view of mountains

Location: In walking distance of many restaurants.
Overall a nice Hotel, rooms, pool area, workout room and facilities. Nice view of the mountains (be sure to ask for a mountain view). Starbucks coffee sold downstairs and a nice bar & restaurant. Good breakfast buffet in the morning at a decent price. I will go there again.

Good hotel near Santa Anita.

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, design
Cons: Include breakfast
When in this area (Pasadena/Arcadia/Monrovia), we usually stay at the Marriott Courtyard just down the street from the Doubletree. For this trip, the Courtyard was full so we decided to try the Doubletree. Very nice at this price point. Large, well-appointed room, ultra-modern design. Bed was comfortable. Free cookies but no breakfast included. HBO but no PPV. Plenty of parking and easy entry/exit on Huntington Drive. We'll stay here again.

Great location near Santa Anita Park

My husband and I stayed here during our trip to Santa Anita Race Track for the California Chrome party. The hotel was about a mile away and within walking distance to several restaraunts. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel wine bar and pool side cabanas were really cool too. All in all, we had a great weekend stay, even though our favorite horse...California Chrome didn't get that Triple Crown.

Clean and friendly service

Posted May 25, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness
We came here to actually check out the venue for our wedding. Everything from the friendly staff, clean and well accommodating room was amazing. Not to mention the complimentary fresh cookies they provide are to die for! Really considering this hotel for as wedding site!

Another opportunity but they missed.

Pros: Front desk staff
Cons: Major renovation needed for A-C units, and provide consistent service at the pool or allow guests to bring their own food & beverages to the pool area
We have stayed at this hotel previously, with just an OK experience before in facility that has so much potential. Past problems had to do with Air-conditioning units not working and poor service at the pool or bar. However, we chose to give them another try this past weekend (4 nights). Upon arrival late at night after a delayed flight, they informed us they did not have room to honor our reservation for that first night, but instead booked us in a room in a motel 1 mile away at their expense. The staff was pleasant and apologetic about it. However, it turned out to be an older motel at 2-Star level at best that was no where near the quality we had reserved with the Doubletree - there were several other hotels nearby such as a Hampton or Marriott which would have been a more equal choice. When we checked into the Doubletree the next day, the front desk staff was again apologetic and went out of their way to take care of us. Our issues next arose with one of our rooms, whose A-C did not function, and when I spoke with a member of the hospitality staff, I was told they knew it didn't work and they were not able to fix it. When I spoke with the front desk to inform them of the A-C problem, I was told someone would come fix it. That never happened, and since it was up to 103 deg. during the day, our nights were more than unpleasant. Our other issue there is no service at the pool, even though they don't want you to bring in outside food/beverages. We won't be back.
