“The worst choice ever”
The Lobby is fine, AND THAT'S IT; everything else is extremely chocking and bad; tried to move to another Hotel even though my stay was prepaid.
“It is what it is!”
When the hotel at which I was attending a conference was booked up, I looked for something nearby for convenience. I saved about 25% compared to other hotels in the area by choosing Highland Gardens, however this clearly put me in the company of other bargain shoppers and some who appeared to be long-term, lower class guests. Several other guests were loud, appeared to have many people sharing one room and while I sat by the pool, I heard loud cursing repeatedly from one room. The staff was courteous and helpful and the lobby is quite clean and lovely but the guest room was in need of renovation; very dated. You must pay an hourly rate for internet service unless you work in the common areas where it is free. Do not recommend for other women traveling alone.
“Hairs in my sheets”
was once soooo good. and now? soooo bad. you can tell by the headshots of famous actors it was once the place to be. But they are all are in Black&White, immediately dating the hotel. then you notice the grounds all wonky, and uncared for. then you notice the towels around the pool still there from the day before.... then you walk into a room with a full kitchen! dining room, living room, and bedroom, but with all 20 year old appliances, and to the bathroom, with a "this has been sanitized" toilet seat paper wrap. then you open up the sheets to find, not one, but TWO hairs in the sheets. yikes. ....and the nerve to ask me extra for my dog upon check out. not worth the money, AT ALL. location? go across the freeway and anything will be better. this hotel needs to redone, no guests until it's redone. doesn't matter they all were living there and partying around the pool. it's horrid.
“Convenience outweighs Quality(?)”
While centrally located, the hotel room was 1940.ish styled. New tile look in shower and new light fixture did little to dress up the old style sink/toilet while both the bath and the room were poorly painted throughout. Bath door was shredded at bottom and carpet was threadbare. Parking was insufficient!!! They spent a fortune dressing up the ultra modern lobby.....why they bothered? The fact that the Beds were comfortable and TV worked, coupled with the great central location, made the stay reasonable for the price. I will stay again but, hopefully, in a different room! “Not impressed”
Very little parking, not enough to accomodate the guests. Few outdoor spots & limited spots in garage. Area of hotel is mixture of business & residential and street parking requires permits. Searched for an hour for a parking spot 1 nite only to be directed to hidden, tiny, & very dark back lot. Could barely navigate my car in & out of the lot. Proximity to Hollywood Blvd is good, but I was afraid to drive anywhere due to parking issue.
“Close to Hollywood Bowl but bring your flats!!!”
Thought the decor in the rooms could be a lot better!!It is in Hollywood should have an "old Hollywood" vibe in the rooms but it doesn't come close. The bed was comfortable. The pool area was quaint. Not worth $$ a nite. The signed picture of a famous porn star in the lobby was tacky.
“Worth staying!”
Good hotel for that price. Hotel entrance was nice and clean, breakfast was satisfying. Rooms were old but clean. Location was perfect, just a few blocks from Chinise theatre and Walk of Fame. Good choice for short stay in LA.
“People at front desk are rude”
Hotel is alright for the price. The size of suites are huge. Everyone I met at the front desk was rude especially a fat asian guy named either Brian or David. I forgot. I tried to complain about him to the manager, but there was never a manager around.
“Good Location..”
Good location,average hotel.
“2.5 star”
Not as picture shown accept the entrance.
