Hidden GemPosted Dec 11, 2013
This hotel is a gem - in a quiet area convenient to a lot of areas around LAX - including LAX itself. I've stayed here a number of times. Although some reviewers pick at things -- all I can say, is that more often than not, the place is about as good as it gets for it's class. It's not huge, so you never feel 'lost' in the pack - yet it has all the amenities of a large hotel. The rooms are well appointed and immaculate. In this case 'Garden' means exactly that: if you get/pick a room facing the pool/garden, you have a relaxing and totally California garden environment. A few tips: 1) you can't hear traffic/planes in your room -- but avoid the rooms facing an elevated train station; train itself is quiet, but there are very occasional loudspeaker announcements. Anywhere else, you won't be aware of the train. 2) the SLEEP NUMBER beds work - but the control is hidden under a velcro flap on the side of the mattress; and no card to tell you that; strange. 3) SEASON: if you are staying over any part of a weekend during a slower part of the year (Nov-Feb) you are likely to get a great rate for your entire stay.

Lovely hotelPosted Nov 28, 2013
We stayed for just a couple of days, before flying out of LAX. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The room was comfortable and very clean. The hotel is close to Manhatten Beach and the shops and cafés.

Beautiful garden too much scentPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: The gardens with the palm trees and flowers were beautiful. The breakfast was really good and the location was quiet but close to everything.
Cons: Stop it with the artificial air freshener in the carpets. Ugh. It made my friend actually ill.
Location: It is right next to Manhattan Beach and they provided a free shuttle. It was also close to the airport and to the 405, but it was on a quiet street.
This was a very nice hotel, with beautiful garden-like patios and walkways, in good shape with an amazing number of amenities such as wifi and the business center. However, they used air freshener in the carpets too much. We had to leave the window open all night to tolerate it. The staff did their job, and the people in the restaurant were great, but the receptionist always looked sour as if we were bothering her.

Nice hotel very close to LAX.Posted Nov 11, 2013
Location: El Segundo has hometown feel with a great restaurant called 2nd City.Restaurants & theaters are also up Sepulveda/Rosecrans. Manhattan Beach has lots!
Not fancy on the outside but when you're in the room it's as if you were in a very nice hotel. Very clean, nice, friendly and convenient due to a free shuttle that takes you to the airport. El Segundo is the nicest place to stay close to both the airport and Manhattan Beach.

Central location, great hotelPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness, staff helpfullness, location
Cons: Addition of a bar area. A kettle in the room. Thats it, the rest is 1st class.
Location: Quite central for most sightseeing trips. LAX 2 mins away. Ralph's supermarket a stones throw away. Quite quiet at night for a piece full sleep.
I have stayed in this area of LA a few times before while on business. This was the first time that the family has visited so I wanted a hotel that we weren't going to be disappointed with and this fitted the bill perfectly. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to help you with directions, advice, recommendations etc and I cannot praise them highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to this hotel without question. Unfortunately we were in LA when the LAX shooting incident occurred on 1/11/13. Unable to get to the airport, the hotel allowed us to stay on and were more than prepared to put us up for another night if needed. The staff were excellent in getting us information and helping us out whilst this was going on. The only downside, would be that there is no bar in the hotel to enjoy a nice evening drink but this was not a problem for us. We were able to get a beer from the hotel restaurant and drink it by the pool or in the TV area. The pool is excellent, nice and clean and well maintained. The jacuzzi is brilliant, a tad too hot for us though, but we still managed 15 mins in it. Overall, thoroughly recommended.
