"Thanks for the memories"
An emotional experience in that my Dad returned to America after WWII on the Queen Mary, my Mom and older brother journeyed to America with other war brides and children of American GIs to New York City on her and my grandmother sailed on the ole gal to visit us. It was on my bucket list to spend time on this ship and it offered me all the memories and emotional feelings I had hoped to experience. I walked the decks they walked, I stayed in a cabin, waved from the deck as my Mom would have done leaving England and my Nan did leaving us to return to England, took all the tours (except the scary one) and shed many tears. Never left the boat the 3 days we were there. I had the feeling of their presence as they wrapped me in their memories. Mom and Nan are gone now and Dad is 90 so it was a VERY special time for me. The staff was kind and considerate, especially Tony, the manager of the Promenade Cafe, who allowed me to share my stories with him and let me have a bit of a cry too. I recommend anyone that loves to have an adventure into the past as well as the real feel of being on a ship to stay overnight as well do the tours. Oh yes, I did get to meet Stella Stevens, who was in the original movie "Poseidon Adventure"and scenes were shot on the Queen Mary. What an added treat!!

"This is a travel hotel not the Ritz Carlton"
The staff here is awesome. The rooms are big with clean roomy bathrooms. For a travel lodge I have seen worse. The security is great so there are no creatures of the night walking the halls. The hotel does not have many amenities. However, there is also a great coffee house next door and a great restaurant on the other side for all 3 meals including brunch. I am baffled by the negative reviews. I guess these people don't travel a lot or they expect much more for their dollar. The hotel is right on a bus line and a quick ride to anything you would like to do in L.A.
