Cheap, good location, friendly staff

Pictures do not represent hotel well. A little run down and the rooms smelled. Trash and food left in room from previous guest. Staff was excellent however and very friendly.

Convenient location

Posted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: Location and friendliness
Cons: Upgrade the rooms with flat screen TVs, replace furniture, shelving in the bathroom to put toiletries on.
Location: Close to many Thai restaurants, Griffith Park Observatory, and the Hollywood Walk
The owner was super friendly and accommodating. The unit was bigger than we expected with a separate kitchen. The unit was not updated but all the basic amenities were there. The hotel itself was quiet and convenient to the freeway and within walking distance to several Thai restaurants. We had a view of the Hollywood sign and the hills from our room. I would stay there again.

Convenient location, but not a lot nearby!

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Location. Comfy beds
Cons: Decor Pool Breakfast
Location: Handy for the tube - and walking distance to Hoolywood & Vine / Highland - not a lot else nearby
After a long day's travelling, on arrival at the hotel I must say I was slightly disappointed. The hotel looked dated and in a poor state of repair. We had to wait outside reception as it wasn't big enough for more than a few people with cases. We were allocated Room 9, upstairs on the 1st floor. The room decor wasn't great and it reminded me of a 70's detective series. The beds were comfortable and the room cleaned daily, with towels replaced - which was excellent. The pool looked less than inviting, with the floor appearing to have large areas of tiles broken / missing. Breakfast is served at a nearby Mexican restaurant. On the first morning, we got there early 08:30 and the choice was excellent - bacon, sausage patties, eggs, potato, coffee / juice, however on days after this then the choices were random and sometimes it wasn't great. Refried beans, egg with peppers & tomato and boiled rice - all looking like remnants from the Mexican the previous evening. Would I stay here again - yes on balance I would - although you get what you pay for.

The room was a little dirty, but otherwise very comfortable. Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. Good location, close to metro stops. Great free breakfast!

Pros: The bed is very good - firm mattress, clean, extra pillows and blanket provided. Pool is small but clean. Free parking, convenient location.
Cons: Our room had numerous areas that could be repaired/fixed, but really all we were looking for was a clean bed & a convenient location at a good price.
Location: The hotel is within 5-minutes walking distance from the Hollywood/Western subway station, plus grocery store, coffee and amenities.
This is a bargain-priced hotel right on Hollywood Blvd., so people who stay here should not be expecting high-quality digs. But we felt secure, the staff was friendly, the room was clean (albeit in need of repairs here and there), the water pressure in the shower was strong, and the bed was terrific. And despite our location on a busy street, the noise at night was not discernibly distracting - we slept soundly! As for their complimentary breakfast, well, I give them an A for effort: Breakfast is served next door at the House of Tacos restaurant, where the staff is welcoming, but the breakfast itself is lacking in flavor, and the presentation is haphazard. But again, for the price we paid for our room at the Hollywood Downtowner, we couldn't complain about a free breakfast. (Besides, there are several terrific breakfast options within a few blocks of the hotel.)

Friendly staff. There was still food in our fridge from the last guest which gave me the feeling they don't thoroughly clean their rooms between guest visits. Towels were old, ratty, didn't look like they'd been washed recently.

Great staff/people

The hotel is a 6 block walk to the main Mecca (walk of fame) but this is an interesting stroll, seeing the real hollywood along the way. The staff were great and even have me a free upgrade due to being tired and needing a really good sleep! They noticed and offered this as the hotel wasn't fully booked. Would stay again!

Receptionist had a bit of an attitude.

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: Location is about all.
Cons: Probably not possible
Location: Walk of fame etc.
Parking is not the best, park in the rear and space is limited and awkward. The place is old but clean. Fortunately, we were at the back so missed the noise that would be emitted from road traffic in the front.

Place to hang your hat in a central location

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Location, free parking, friendly staff, complimentary breakfast,
Cons: Bathroom remodel
Location: Central to access Griffith Park, Hollywood Blvd. attractions and 10 minute ride to Sunset Blvd night life. Nowhere Bar across the street is a must!
Overall, our experience was pleasant and the hotel served our purpose of a place to sleep for two nights while we explored Hollywood for a weekend. It is a great hotel if you are looking for a place to hang your hat for a night or two. I would not recommend extended stays nor would I recommend it if part of your plans include spending substantial time in the room beyond sleeping/getting ready. You get what you pay for. Otherwise, the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. They also offer free parking (HUGE PLUS) and a complimentary breakfast.
