“A small but GREAT hotel!”
My wife and I really felt at home staying in this hotel for 6 days 5 nights. It was like going back to one's own apartment each night after a long day's exploration of L.A.The staff are all very polite and helpful. The lady at the counter (sorry, forgot to ask her name) lended us 2 tap cards knowing that we would be using the Metro rails and buses most of the time, which proved to be very useful and saved us lots of money. Special thanks to Patricia, the lady serving us at breakfast every morning. She was very attentive and cheerful. Talking to her in the morning really brightened up our days! Just cross the quiet road in front of the hotel you enter the Hollywood and Highland Mall where the Dolby Theater & the Chinese Theater are. Outside the H&H Mall is the happening Hollywood Blvd with all the famous tourist attractions such as the Walk of Fame, El Capitan Theater, Egyptian Theater, Hollywood Museums and tons of restaurants! This hotel is your best choice if you wish to explore Hollywood and its neighboring areas with public transportation because the Metro train and bus stations are all within walking distance!
“I love the Orchid Suites”
This is my fifth trip and my first time in a single room. It was bigger than my last apartment and had twice the closet space. I have been there previously with family and have had four in two rooms and we never felt cramped. This time, frankly, the room was way more than I could use. And the addition of breakfast is great. Since they tore down the Burger King across the street, we had to walk to Hollywood Blvd to eat. I was on a diet and didn't eat, but it looked great and was well attended. The hotel is run-down, but is kept as clean as possible. I would never hesitate to stay there or recommend it to anyone. My only complaint is that they changed the shampoo brand and don't include conditioner.
“Can't wait to go back!!”
I can't say enough good things about this hotel!! Its location was ideal, very close to all attractions but quiet and peaceful. EVERY staff member was nice, friendly and helpful. VERY clean, very spacious rooms - we ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS HOTEL!!! We will DEFINETELY be staying again.
“great price and location”
Spent three nights at this hotel on a short trip with my family. It's a bit outdated, but the room was clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Could't have asked for more at that price. It also has a great location, just steps from Hollywood Boulevard and its main attractions.
“Great location, clean, helpful staff.”
GREAT location, just behind the Kodak theater. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, spacious and had full kitchens. Breakfast was included and was really good. Great place if you're visiting LA. Will definitely come back and recommend it.
“Bravo for Hollywood Orchid Suites!”
The first question most of ask is: What was is wrong with the hotel or is it in a bad area? I couldn’t find any negatives about the place. Sure, its an older hotel but unless your looking for every little flaw, who cares how old it is as long as things are nice. The room was clean. No smell in the room. Free underground parking at the hotel (other hotels charge for parking and others are offsite). The hotel is at the end of a side street which really kept down any noise. It was quiet. About a 1 minute walk to the Chinese Theater/Hollywood Blvd. I felt safe the entire time. I don’t know about the other rooms but the Executive Suite room was great. So much room! The balcony was a major plus which made the room feel even bigger. The complementary continental breakfast was good. If you want a full meal, go to IHOP but the breakfast the hotel provided was good enough to get you started before you head out for the day. The staff was great. Greeting with a smile. Ready to direct you anywhere you need to go. Also, the hotel has Universal Studios tickets for less than at the park.. I read the good reviews about the hotel before I booked it for my trip and now I can see why they have such good reviews! For those of us on a budget, you simply can’t beat the location, the room, the service, and the price. Bravo!
“Peasantly Surprised”
Like yourselves I read through all the reviews for the surrounding hotels because it was important for me to be within walking distance of hollywood boulevard. The front entrance is litterly minutes from the strip walk out the front door and walk through the mall. I felt very safe there, there was plenty of free parking and the parking was secured with a gate opened only with a key. There is a free continental breakfast that was very fresh and well stocked and the wireless internet worked flawlessly. There is a nice clean pool, and I was really surprised that there was noone hanging out drinking and no noise I slept like a baby both nights. The room was clean and the maid and staff were very attentive. The price was comparable with the other 3 star hotels in the area and half the price of the two big hotels in the area. The staff at the door was very knowledgable about the tours restaurants and entertainment venues. One more thing my room hod a full eat in kitchen that I didn't need not sure if all the rooms have that because I didn't request it but it would be nice for a family on a budget.I am planning to stay there on my next trip.
“Surprisingly Nice”
The hotel is directly behind the Kodak Theatre... you literally walk through a tunnel and are in the shopping center. They offer free parking which is awesome. The continental breakfast is very basic, but that's how they keep the rates low. The furnishings in the room are a bit dated, but clean. They have an outdoor pool, small - but clean. In fact, all I saw them do was clean! The ladies at the front desk all seemed nice and helpful. I got the room cheaper on Expedia than the hotel's direct rate. I would definitely stay here again!
“Best choice for the $$”
First, I do travel a lot so I'm looking for the best bang for the $$. This is a great choice if you are interested in the Hollywood Blvd area. I arrived by train in the early morning and they put my bags behind the counter until check-in. I wanted to take pictures of Frank Sinatra's star/s for my grandson so they even looked them up for me. The room was huge and absolutely spotless (even behind the doors etc.) and the help as nice as I've ever found. Ever! Even though it is security key entry only, they monitor the doors very closely. Even though I saw no need, it is a very secure environment for those who worry about such things. Everything about this hotel is excellent except the wireless internet really really sucks. May as well say there is none but the PC in the breakfast room even has a printer. Great place to stay and you can not beat the price. I will book here again. Tips: Cut through the mall to get to Hollywood BLVD. (slight right angle out the front door, up the ramp to the mall, take a left to the mall courtyard and look right. Hollywood gets up late (for a country boy like me) and the Hotel doesn't even make coffee until 8AM. Neither does anyone else but McDonald's is just a short walk left down the Blvd and they do. Lots of tour guide services along the Blvd and I suggest you take one but negotiate the price. My open top van trip cost $20, not the $39 they asked for. *I think these reviews are a great help so I hope my review is useful to you.*
“Great Location!! Great Place to stay for the PRICE!!”
The Orchid Suites is a little hard to find but well worth it!! The location alone was amazing! You are directly behind the Kodak Theatre, Graumans Chinese Theatre, and all of the STARS! The Hotel is older but well maintained! The room was extremely comfortable. It was nice that it had a full kitchen all though we were not there long enough to use it!! The under hotel parking was nice and it was included in the price!! The buffet style brakfast was nice, all great stuff from Costco!! If you want AMAZING Italian food walk down to Miceli's!! I would definitely stay there again!!
