Beautifully preserved hotel with helpful and friendly staff! Nice to know it was the home for the Oscars in the 1920's. Will surely come back if I can.

Great Hotel

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: The history and the location
Cons: The bathroom; would have been nice to have a counter to put our tolitries on and an exhaust fan in there would be a good addition.
Location: Chinese theatre, Wax Museums, Starline tours (TMZ was awesome), In-N-Out Burger, Pinks Famous Hotdogs, Jimmy Kimmel, Dolby Theatre, Hard Rock Cafe
We had a great time. We felt a little un-hip, as this seemed to be where the cool kids come to play in Hollywood. We loved that it was right across the street from Graumans Chinese Theatre. It was also not far from many of the other places we wanted to go. The staff were all very friendly and nice. Parking is expensive, but we knew that before booking and was no more expensive than most other hotels we looked at. The history of the hotel and the old hollywood atmosphere really made this hotel special. Even though we were an overweight, midwestern, middle aged couple we were still treated great and had fun. We just didn't look like most of the fabulous people staying there.

Fantastic Night Away

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Loved almost everything. Fantastic Staff from right when you arrive, to check in etc.
Cons: Rude girl at the door to "The Public House" where the bowling alley was... it was empty and said me and my girlfriend could get in but not our guys.
Location: We went to see a Concert at the Greek Theatre... took a cab there.
GREAT Hotel. We stayed in the newly renovated side overlooking the pool. Very cool. Nice guest and the pool bar was great. "The Library" was incredible... fantastic food and Alex which mixed anything and everything to give you a fresh cocktail to your exact liking was a true Drink Artist. We had a fantastic time.

Great location right on the main tourist strip, very close to transport and they have some great bars and an awesome pool area, staff are friendly and rooms are a good size. Rooms are clean and the hotel is very well known so if your lost just ask and basically everyone knows where this hotel is.

Really load construction noise!! Front desk staff seemed confused. I got billed twice for my internet. You have to double check everything they do. They will try put you in the worst room ever. Big plus is is pet friendliness and cleaning staff.

2nd visit- a bit disappointed

Posted Aug 1, 2014
I have stayed at and loved the Hollywood Roosevelt before , which is why I chose it for my boyfriends first time to LA. The first day we were there we were unable to use the pool due to a private party which is fine but the bouncer "promised something nice to be sent to our room for the inconvenience " which wasn't necessary but nice. However, the promise never came. Then the next night, our air conditioning stopped working and the heat climbed through the night making the next morning very miserable at 80 degrees. I notified the front desk twice but they couldn't so much. I hope I saved the next person using the room. I would expect these things from other hotels but not a Thompson hotel where I am paying a lot of money.
