The Shangri-La hotel was a terrific pick if you want to be right near the ocean in Santa Monica - a great strolling area with the 3rd St. shops and restaurants quite nearby. Staff was terrific and helpful and the rooms were quite lovely - this hotel has just undergone a huge remodel and has wonderful prices because it's a "soft opening" with the pool and restaurant not yet operational. However, they did provide a nice continental breakfast in one of the suites and that was convenient and of good quality. We'll return, for sure, as we have family in the area.

What a jewel of a hotel! Close to the beach, close to the promenade and close to fine dining. The hotel is still undergoing remodeling (the pool and dining facilities not open) but within a few fhort weeks this will be the place to stay in Santa Monica. Great rooms, great service, with a great location. That says it all!

“Comfortable, clean and Would recommend”

We were pleased with our stay at the Shangri La Santa Monica. It was smaller hotel but clean, nice rooms and had a very helpful staff (For instance, I called down and asked where the ice machine was. The guy told me in the kitchen so he would bring me some in about 10 minutes. I had barely hung up the phone and a nice, smiling man was at my door with an ice bucket filled to the top). We did not utilize the pool area but it looked very nice. The hotel location was excellent... down from the 3rd Street Promenade, the Santa Monica Pier and across from the ocean and beach. The only strange part was the hallways to the rooms were outside so it made me feel like I was at a really nice motel rather than a hotel. I liked that there was free wireless throughout the hotel but thought the valet parking was a bit expensive. We would definitely stay at Shangri La again and would recommend it to others.

“Beach luxury”

The location is perfect, steps from Third st. Nice pool, big hot tub. Choose to lounge there or on the beach. Try the surf lesson with Pete from Learn to surf LA. The only bad thing was even though we check in with 4 people they did not have sheets on the pull out queen sofa. We had to call down to the desk, but they came right up and made up the bed.

Hotel was in a great location. Hotel service was exceptional. Highly attentive staff. Pool was amazing. Only problem was the bathroom floor got very wet when you took a shower - owing to the design of the shower curtain so we had to keep calling cleaning staff to mop up! Other than that we would definitely go back and highly recommend the hotel.

My husband and I loved this hotel! Yes, the room was small,but it was everything we needed, great/fabulous comfy bed, great bathroom! The windows opend and was nice to have fresh air! No matter what food we had, it was fantastic, a little pricey, but you are in Santa Monica, so it was expected. The staff was very nice, friendly, helpful - hotel courtyard/pool area is fabulous and roof top bar with views of fabulous sunset off the ocean, priceless!! Not a huge/large hotel; which really made it more personable, simply fantastic! Only slight down side was were were there in December and court yard/pool bar, and outside dining was closed for winter. We sat out there anyway at night enjoying the fire pit with wine!
