Santa Monica Hotel across the street from beach

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Location. Concierge was very nice and outgoing.
Cons: Check in staff rather cold (but not impolite). Could have been a Hampton Inn though as well... The hotel lacks any sort of character
Location: Location is what you pay for. Across the street from the beach and close to pier, downtown santa monica...
Nice hotel across the street from the beach (Only Shutters is actually on the beach). Loews is a no frills hotel, nothing special about it in any way. There is also nothing bad about it - but definitely not memorable. Location on the other hand is great, very close to the pier and pedestrian zones of Santa Monica. They do play music by the pool which is in the middle of the horseshoe shaped hotel. If you do not want to hear that during the day make sure you get a room facing the outside of the hotel - but the majority do face the pool. Music stopped around 8pm i believe.

disappointing stay

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: The location
Cons: a hotel with that location would be nice operating at a 5 stars level. all aspects of customer service should be improved
Location: beach front yard, lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance.
We had two separate reservations, one for a day and the other for remaining 3 days due to change of plans. In order to combine our 2 reservations and avoid a move, we were downgraded to this terrible room by the street level while our rate was kept the same. We had a reservation for 4 people, but the WiFi connection allowed only for 3 devices. The cellular signals were awful in the room, not the hotels fault, but WiFi availability would have compensated for that fact. In the morning, when we tried to get a drink, the staff could not serve us because they closed between 11 and 11:30. Seriously? for a hotel with close to $600 a night??

Room too small for the amount of $$$ spent.

Beach is just a walk away, but room not spacious at all.

have stayed here a lot but it is tired.

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: location is good. Food pretty good
Cons: Rooms/bathrooms need a facelift. $44 for parking is exorbitant.
Location: great location.
Have stayed here a dozen times but not acknowledged while checking in. Checked into a room that was like being on the freeway. Asked to move to a new room, guy at front desk made me feel like it was my fault as I didn't have a higher grade. Said to upgrade and I would pay for it...took several hours for new room to be ready. Finally got in the room which was quieter and nicer but these bathrooms need an overhaul. Food in restaurant and service were very good. No turn down service, for 550 a night, should get it. Overall a bit disappointment.

Great location - but watch out out - there's fees

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Tried to stick us in a basement room facing an alley of garages for same price as an upgraded room -($500) nice try - also when we got our new room, toilet leaked , shower drain was clogged & during our stay - never replenished washcloths - had to request. Staff at pool was exceptional - props to those working to make our pooltime or evening cocktails very relaxing & enjoyable

Nice hotel close to Pier and beach

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: Immaculate hotel in a great location.
Cons: We were charged $32 each for a very average breakfast buffet served by staff who seemed like they didn't want to be there.
Location: It's right by the Pier so plenty to do there. They have a bike hire on beach so a ride around to Venice Beach is interesting. 3rd Street area is nice.
Excellent service at check in time. Helpful staff, beautiful lobby area. Great pool and spa facility.

EPIC MANAGMENT FAILURE

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: CHANGE THE MANAGER !
I booked a hotel stay with Expedia in Newport beach for a Tuesday check in and I booked a stay in Santa Monica for a Thursday check-in Santa Monica. The trouble is there was a misundersanding and both hotels got booked for the SAME check-in date ! Now you might say that's my fault but I would have expected that the hotel would have gone out of their way to accomodate me when I arrived on Thursday only to find out they expected me there two days ago. Instead of the hotel manager at LOEWS trying to figure out a way to help me they simply said I would have to work it out with Expedia and there "was nothing they could do to help me out". Now keep in mind this was mid-week and the hotel was mostly empty (that's what they told me !) So correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't a well educated Hotel Manager figure out a way to keep me as a happy future guest ?,Offer up some sort of solution ?They were PAID $535 for the empty room ! Nothing but crickets out of LOEWS ! Nice job on the 5 star service. Not. The hotel had many rooms available and left me and my lady "high and dry" with no solutions ! I will always remember that LOEWS HOTELS DOES NOT APPRECIATE THEIR GUEST. I'm out $535 for that trip. NICE buisness model LOEWS, send your guest away without even offering up a solution that actually might win over that client for the rest of their lives.

Dear Ron, Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that you accidentally booked your stay for the wrong dates. Unfortunately, when you book through Expedia, any changes must be made through their site. We are sorry for your frustration and that your impression was not a better reflection of our commitment to excellence. We do hope that we will be able to welcome you back in the future.
