Immaculate room, great people.Posted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness was impressive, followed closely by an excellent staff taking care of the guests and facility.
Cons: The building is a few decades old minimum (probably thirty or forty years old at least) and has a few minor signs of that age.
Location: Lots of restaurants, grocery stores, coffee shops and the like nearby. Try the Four N 20 restaurant nearby, great people there too.
The rooms are super clean, facilities well maintained and the staff genuinely eager to be of service. The beds are comfortable and the maid and maintenance teams are on top of their game and do a fantastic job keeping the building, rooms and grounds looking tip-top. I felt safe and secure during my entire stay. The breakfast provided is above par compared to other places I've been. The front desk staff is as helpful as one can hope for, always eager to please, help or otherwise assist with all the little questions and requests I had during my week at the Mikado. The location gave me easy access to the rest of the LA area. One of the best stays I've ever had. Give this place a chance to wow you too.
Updated Room, but very load highway noisePosted Feb 18, 2014
The room is ok if you have a low expense budget. VERY loud right by the 101 Freeway and I was surprised that the doors open to the outside. I didn't really feel comfortable while staying there. Even thought it's an ok neighborhood.

Ok for the pricePosted Feb 18, 2014
I stayed on the first floor, and you can hear everything that's going on upstairs in the room above you. Te walls are so thin. Because of this I could not sleep.

Rm 135 needs maintenance!Posted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: They offer good free breakfast.
Cons: A heated outdoor swimming pool, maybe.
Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, love that it's close to Universal Studios ( where we celebrated my son's birthday), i rarely have a bad experience from other hotels/motels i stayed previously, except on this one . The Rm 135 which was assigned to us is fronting the swimming pool, wished that the pool is heated but its not, my son must have gotten frustrated when he found out the water's iced cold. At least the jacuzzi works! Found out the bath tub's clogged, my legs immersed in water while taking a shower! Try to call the front desk to report the problem just to find out the phone's not working at all! We checked the line, hooked the cable back & forth, still no dial tone! I have to walk to the front desk to tell them about the bath tub, which is just a short walk which i don't mind. The staff apologized and offer to change room in the morning since its past 10pm already, it didn't happened the following morning because i have to call them using my own mobile phone within 30 minutes requesting to transfer right away since i cannot sleep because the ac is not working too! Oh, what a disaster and a hassle first night experience at Mikado hotel!..But i must say, the breakfast was great, by far exceed to other hotel who offers the same service.

Nice hotel close to restaurants and shopping mall.Posted Feb 17, 2014
Cons: Room ceilings.
Location: Restaurants and shopping malls.
Simple but comfort rooms. Some improvements such as room´s celings may be nice. Small bathroom. Close to restaurants and shopping stores. Nice staff.

Okay hotel.Posted Feb 8, 2014
Pros: It's quiet.
Cons: The bathrooms could use remodeling.
The room was pleasant enough. But, there is no room service or a bar that is open after 10pm. Also, the floor was damp from the carpet being shampooed when I checked in. I would only recommend it if you're a local and just want to get away from your everyday routine for a couple of days (like i did). But, you might be bummed out if you're from out of town and have limited transportation and nowhere else to go.

Glorified motelPosted Feb 6, 2014
Another aged motel trying to market itself as a hotel. The management has renovated some aspects of this establishment but the overall facilities and rooms are unsatisfactory. The lobby and Japanese gardens are nice but the rooms, rugs, furnishings need complete renovation. You can still see where the Best Western sign was posted on the front exterior.

Fair price hotel for the areaPosted Feb 1, 2014
Pros: Staff were accommodating. Free breakfast.
Cons: The eggs were terrible but the rest of the breakfast was fine and plentiful. Walls in room are badly repaired and painted over, although clean.
Location: Close to shopping and Warner Brothers Studio.
Fair price for a fair hotel in this area. Most hotels seem to be very expensive or they are cheap and for good reason. The Mikado is ok for the price and has everything you need.
