Beach hotel

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Once a very nice place I'm sure. It is very run down and noisy. Felt sorry for the pilot and flight attendant having to stay there. I booked and paid in advance to save a few $$ sure glad I did.

Very old hotel with nonfunctional bathtub.

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything.
The trip lever that opens and closes the drain didn't work so couldn't have a bath. The water temp fluctuated hot to cold randomly. The handle was so temperamental that my mom couldn't adjust it right to get a hot shower. I will not stay here again.

Dear Spencer, We value all forms of guest feedback as an opportunity to continually improve our services and facilities for our guest. It is of great concern that I have learned your experience fell, not only short, but well below par, of your expectations. Our building and rooms do have some years on its neck, and we are indeed waiting for a renovation, an the discussions are already in motion. Your feedback is valuable to the renovation discussion, so thank you again for your comments.

Old, rundown, standard from 30 years ago

Posted Sep 2, 2014
The hotel seemed to have had its time in the 60-70s, now everything is old, and no money was invested in upgrades regarding the rooms. Had old tube TV with one channel only, which was some bible channel. Cracked sink in the bathroom, scratched off wood veneer and metal everywhere. Ball of black woman's hair in the bathroom. The shampoo provided looked, smelled and had the consistency of a mans body fluid, had luckily some shampoo left from an another hotel. Room AC loud like a diesel truck. Enough said

Redondo trip

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Hotel is in dire need of being upgraded. Elevators are dirty and scarred, there are no amenities other than vending machines, and not a big deal but to get the point across you get a small golf pencil instead of a pen in your room to take phone notes. Shower and bath are both old, mirror had been broken at one point. OK for a $75 hotel near the beach but not $159.

Shows it's age; Internet unacceptable

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Staff was great and very helpful Lots of pilots stay there, so can't be all bad
Cons: INTERNET!!! Beds! Update the decor!
This hotel had been around since at least the '70s, and you can tell. Thought that would be OK, since it's a good location close to the beach. And Pancake house next door was fabulous! But would NOT recommend this hotel, because of terribly uncomfortable beds and also because of unacceptable Internet. Although it's "free wi-fi," most times the server wouldn't even show up In the room, and if it did, we'd lose it a minute or 2 later. We had to sit in lobby to use it, and even then, it was so slow that often only the subject lines would load for emails.

Nice sunset view, but dated hotel

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: location and sunset view.
Cons: new pillows, mattresses and decor.
Location: Bucca de Beppo is in walking distance - that is nice. Waffle place next door was yummy.
Last minute trip with my daughter - left me with little choice. The rooms are very dated, but generally clean. When I checked in, the front desk person was eating her dinner at the front desk and she had stains on her shirt from the food. The bed was uncomfortable - the pillows were totally flat.

Overpriced, but not terrible

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: it seemed to be a family place, no loud parties etc. staff was excellent, and it was a calm and peaceful place to stay.
Cons: The "falling in on itself" remnants of a diner in the front was a bit off putting upon arrival, but I'm pretty sure the owner has noticed?
close to the beach (sort of).. and would not want to ever pay that price for a room like that again.. but we did not have a bad time there and it was clean enough.

When did they stop caring?

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: The location in Redondo is good. Everything else is not worthwhile.
Cons: Beds, furniture, lighting, carpeting, d├ęcor........
Location: Redondo Beach is a great area. Lots to d by the pier, great dining and located around a lot of activities.
From the outside and in the lobby, the hotel looks nice enough. Then you step in the elevator and it gets sketchy. Step out of the elevator and it goes south fast. The halls are dark and uninviting. The decoration is best called odd and out of date. Stepping in my room the first thing I started to do was look for another hotel. The carpet appeared to have been installed during the Regan administration and was dingy enough that I wasn't sure of the original color. There were no baseboards just a long back streak from years of vainly vacuuming the floors. The furniture was either purchased from a thrift store or just so old and beat up it was embarrassing. I sat on the bed looking for another room and after 10-15 minutes my rear end hurt just from sitting on it because it was so hard. They advertise free Wi-Fi but it was so slow that my phone working off cell signal was faster. It stopped, started and kicked me off. Finally I gave up. I complained/inquired once showing them my constantly loading I-pad and they seemed unconcerned. When I checked out they likewise we're polite enough but unconcerned with my experience.

Fine but not fancy

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Feels a bit tired and worn and could definitely use updating. Staff was very nice. No breakfast included and pancake house next door has a long wait in weekends so not an easy option.

Thank Goodness for the Ocean Breeze

Posted Jun 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Hotel is close to the beach and a short drive to the Redondo Beach Pier. It was clean but in need of repair. Our A/C sounded like a Boeing 747 but we were on the 4th floor and felt comfortable leaving the balcony door open. I probab;ly wouldn't book there again but it was convenient to the places we needed to go..
