A relaxing rejuvenating stay

Posted Mar 29, 2015
Needed a rejuvenating stay after a minor medical procedure. It was worked like a charm. I love this place not only for its clean upscale decor and exceptional choices but it's close proximity to shopping and the LAX. Love this place!

Great stay, but not excellent.

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Very friendly staff. Wasn't too crowded.
Cons: Lower prices of rooms facing the Beverly Center. Not fair to have someone pay the same for that room as a room with a gorgeous city view.
Hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. My main issue with the hotel are the expectations set when booking. Many rooms offer a "city view" and are advertised as such. When you book a city view, you expect just that. Many of the rooms offer a view of the Beverly Center parking lot which is not a pleasing experience. Two of the rooms I booked had type of view and luckily I was able to change one of them to a view on the other side of the hotel with a view of the hills which was great. The staff had no issue switching my room but it should not be advertised as "city view" if your view is of building of a mall.

Could be better

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: Location is excellent. Valet service is incredibly fast.
Cons: Concierge is snooty. Hair salon charges a ridiculous amount for a so so blow dry. See above re cleanliness and lighting
Location: Ideal for Melrose and Third St shopping. Can walk to wonderful restos.
Overall quite good but for this brand expect better room cleaning - stuff on carpet under desk in full view on check in and for two days later. Terrible lighting in bathroom and for reading in bed. As I am from a French speaking part of the world, it is so pretentious that everyone says "Bonjour" but can't speak more French. The Hotel's idea of a room looking to the Hollywood Hills is one that pretty much faces into a school where the rooms are lit up at night. Value for $$$ - not really.

Nice hotel

Posted Mar 21, 2015
The hotel is nice but our room had a broken A/C system. We had it set on low, but our room was hot all night. It's hard to sleep in a hot room.

What an odd experience!

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: Location, decor, restaurant, friendly staff (mostly)
Cons: Not telling guests that you've emptied their room!
We actually had a fabulous stay at the Sofitel. We had a small but nice room for our first night, and upgraded to a larger room with a separate living room for our final 2 nights in LA. Both were well-appointed and well maintained. While I loved the cozy robe and nice toiletry products, I really didn't enjoy that the beds had no top sheet -- while the linens were 'luxurious', the beds were made simply with a bottom sheet and a duvet. If I/we got warm at night, it was an all or nothing situation with the bedding. So what was odd? There was clearly confusion about the extension of our stay, and when we arrived back at the hotel at about 10pm for our final night's sleep there, our keys didn't work. We went to the front desk to find out what the problem was, we were told by the manager that they had expected us to check out that morning and had moved all of our belongings into storage. We asked why they hadn't contacted us -- why we had received no phone call, text or email; he was stumped. We waited in the lobby for quite a while, over 15 minutes, while he "checked it out". He called us back to the desk and gave us new keys to the room ---- false alarm ---- they hadn't moved our things, but they also hadn't serviced the room. Very strange indeed.
