Very beautiful hotel popular area

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Offered a lot of things to do in the area and in the hotel
Cons: bathrooms and parking
Location: Shopping at fashion district
I did not like the fact that my room did not have a restroom inside the room we had to walk out in the hallway to use the restroom. There is no parking available for guest staying at hotel they send you next door where you can be charge $15-$20 for the night.

Noisy and uncomfortable

Posted May 15, 2015
Took the risk and stayed for 1 night. It's very old and in need of general improvements. There was a long line and wait at reception checking in. They ask for a $50 deposit for damages that do not return checking out, but several days later. Worse they lost my paperwork and could not good my receipt. The room was bare but OK for 1 night. The bed was hard. My neighbors were very noisy, yelling and moving stuff around in their room and hallways all night. Not recommendable!

Disliked that they don't have their own parking. Didn't like the valet service right next to the hotel.

Totally out of a horror Movie

Posted Apr 27, 2015
Where to start! Don't let the pictures fool you. Facility is nothing like it shows in them. Lobby is very misleading. I booked a queen bed with shared bathroom (without knowing what it actually meant) how is that even an option for them??! Of course i check in and get to my room to find a match box with two twin beds and no bathroom whatsover!! 😳👎 I go back to the lobby in horror and ask for a refund to go somewhere else and I am told that is impossible but I could upgrade to a private bathroom for 23 dls. Room was super small and lacked of everything. Bed was very uncomfortable, super noisy, sheets were stained and ripped. private bathroom? A toilet and a shower that flooded. I felt i was in prison! Totally nasty. Towels were so stained. I paid 128 + 23 upgrade for a " hostel" room right out of a horror film. Parking is $15 dls a night. Deposit is 50 dls and still isnt back in my account. I didn't even dare see the continental breakfast. I saw 3 couples complaining about the same thing that night. Take ur business elsewhere. Check the cecil hotel history!!! Several murders in there! Seems hunted and not to mention how loud the area is! Emergency vehicles wake u up every 15 mins and that is if u manage to sleep!!! I couldnt be more disappointed. Super expensive. Place is not worth more than 40 dls a night!

Queen with shared bathroom

Pros: Location and creepy history
Cons: Noise and smell
Location: Bars, Grand Central Market, Little Tokyo
It was a toss up between this and Airbnb for a one night stay in LA, and I'm still not sure I made the right choice. I paid $68.00 for a noisy, smelly room, but at least I had privacy. My room faced inward towards another wing (The building is shaped like an "E"), and the traffic, siren and mechanical noise from what I assume was a generator was quite loud. I suspect a room facing the street would actually be quieter. Don't forget to pack earplugs. The slamming of room and bathroom doors was also annoying, and the room and halls smelled of bug spray. In the end, the creepy history of the former Hotel Cecil was the deciding factor, but I would not stay here again unless I was just in town for a Skid Row bender and guaranteed to pass out every night.

City hostel/hotel

Posted Mar 26, 2015
For the price very convenient, you won't find any other hotel that centrally located, directly in the midst of the café and bar scene. Wonderful. You leave the hotel and you are directly in the midst of life there. Don't be afraid of homeless people and dogs though! For those who seek to find the comfort of a true hotel don't go here, because it's rather a convenient choice for people who want to be close to the LA scene. So some lack of comfort.
