Gorgeous Views, 5 Star Wannabe, But 'Dissatifiers'Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Wonderful views, nice salt-water pool, bed is superb (like the feather bed my grandparents have), staff is very pleasant.
Cons: Get rid of 'dissatifiers'; give staff authority to resolve problems themselves - they don't have it; get rid of $25 fee - is that for breathing?
Location: Nothing is really close to the resort; plan on driving a fair amount to get anywhere else at all. Oh, your car will cost you $25 per day to park.
My wife and I and several relatives stayed for several days recently in connection with my son's wedding which was there. The ocean views are stunning. The resort was built within the last 6 years as a luxury resort and the layout is very nice with numerous paths, an excellent pool and several restaurants on site which serve excellent food. The staff was uniformly friendly and attentive. So why do I only rate it a '3'? Because of what I call 'dissatisfies' - things that aren't a basic problem, but are things that were done poorly, were irritations that normally aren't, etc. Here are some examples: In the bathroom there are two lights - one on each side of the mirror. One of ours was out, making it a bit difficult to shave. So I reported it to the front desk first thing the next morning. Nothing was done. Same story next morning; nothing was done. By late afternoon of the second day, I unscrewed the burnt- out light and took it to the front desk and asked for a new light offering to screw it in myself. They were horrified and wouldn't let me do it and contacted Maintenance. It was fixed within a couple of hours, but when we walked by the front desk, the staff didn't know it and asked me (!). Other simple examples: stains on the carpet (in more than one room because I asked my relatives); a cobweb in a room; stains (I hope they were coffee) on the tile in the bathroom. Another irritant: They charge extra for a lot of stuff, but there was no disclosure anywher

Nice hotel lacks classPosted Sep 9, 2014
Cons: Staff training
Many rooms too far from services, food average, too expensive for class of hotel.

Been coming since they opened.Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Close to our home and perfect 'staycation' option with little kids.
Cons: Better scheduling of corporate events, so other guests are not inconvenienced or shortchanged.
Location: Not much to do I'm afraid. PV is a remote location, and the only activities are driving distance or onsite.
My family and I have been coming to Terranea for the past five years, since they opened. I understand that the resort is popular and want to accommodate more people, but our last stay was a nightmare. We live less than 5 miles away, but have small kids so we come to Terranea for 'staycations'. The stay started well with an upgrade to a casita, but it was all downhill from there. 1. I checked with Catalina Kitchen to see that kids 4 and under still ate free, before making reservation, and the manager told me they did. Well, nope! We were charged $12.95 per kid. If the kids weren't free we would have eaten at Nelson's. 2. A group bought out the pool area for a private party, so when we came down to the pool on the day of, a server told us we had to leave by 3PM, or 4PM (she didn't even know). WTH! Why couldn't this info have been given to us prior. It turned out that they opened up the adult pool to all ages from 3PM-5PM. Small consolation. 3. They scheduled an adult pool volleyball game at the adult pool, so my kids had to stay in a little corner of the pool the whole time. One of the attendants even had the nerve to suggest that we leave so my kids won't get hurt. How about you prevent my kids getting hurt by rescheduling the volleyball game?

Great weekend get awayPosted Sep 3, 2014
We had a wonderful 3 day weekend at Terranea with two other families. The hotel was able to give us three rooms in a row so we were able to enjoy lots of time with our friends. The staff was great from the front desk to pool side service. This spot really feels like you've gone away

I recommend !Posted Sep 3, 2014
I recommend to all my friends and family to Terranea hotel. Really clean and comfortable bed and the hotel staff are friendly and courteous. Also pool and restaurant was fantastic and I love hiking trails too. The restaurant must be reservation before you going.(breakfast, lunch, dinner) If not have to wait long time.

Beyond Beautiful Location! Stunning ViewsPosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Beautiful Design.. Attention to Details!!
Last Minute Deal.. and what a surprise!! First Class Property.. the experience is pricey but the quality and service befit the price. Obvious that locals in Palos Verdes love the place. The Adult Pool is a great get-away but the resort is equally as functional for families as singles. Would highly recommend this experience for those who would like the luxury with out the snobbery. Extra Helpful Staff... All this ...and twenty minutes south of LAX.. !!

Stunning hotel overlooking Pacific & CatalinaPosted Aug 10, 2014
This is our second time in the hotel, once when they opened in 2009 and this past weekend. The only issue I had is that I requested an ocean view room on an upper floor, we were on the ground floor and had to keep the sheer curtains closed as we had a constant parade of guests walking but of our lanai was a make-shift soccer field-not the romantic get-away we had in mind
