“So-so”
I want to start by saying I hated LA so much that sleeping was probably the best part of my trip. So the hotel did not seem so bad. It's definitely not high end by any means but it will suffice as a cheap place to stay. I probably wouldn't go back, but only because LA is not my cup of tea. I didn't eat the continental breakfast, but it was very sparse in variety. The room was comfortable enough, the neighborhood really is not that bad, unless you're skiddish. I got bug bites from the hotel and I think my sister and I both got sick from the room. It's not the complete hell-hole other reviews are making it out to be, but my standards were so low that when I finally got there, I was actually grateful for the exaggeration. You won't be luxuriously smitten, but it's a room and it's cheap.
“Really Bad Experience in a Hotel ( The Historic Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles) in USA”
The Historic Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles is very bad. AC was not working. Bathroom hot/cold water condition was very bad.
“Convenient, affordable, everything working, clean”
My first contact with the hotel was encouraging: the parking attendant had my reservation and I was let in without a hitch. An old hotel, but renovated and generally in good condition. Staff was friendly but not overbearingly so, the room was clean, somewhat spartan, but spacious. Internet worked without any hassle. Neighborhood is nothing special, but good and affordable Thai restaurant one block away. Well located for most LA business locations.
“Great Place to Stay in L.A.”
Room was clean. Location was convenient.
“Best place to spend night near downtown”
This is the good hotel if you need some place to sleep near the downtown of LA. Yes it's old. But it's clean and quiet. Just 5 minutes walk from Metro station. I'm totaly satisfied! It gives you more than you can expect for paid money.
“Very unorganized”
We arrived an hour and a half before check-in at 3pm. We finally got into our room at 4:30pm. The parking is $10 per day. The restroom was so tiny we had to put one leg over the toilet to close the door. When we checked out, my daughter forgot her pillow in the room. I returned immediately to retrieve the pillow and the maid was in there with the door blocked with her cart. The bathroom door was closed and I could hear the blow dryer. She didn't even realize I had entered the room, got the pillow and left. It was historic, the lobby was gorgeous but overall I would not book this one again.
“Nice place for the money.”
It worked well for us as a place to lay your head. It's not fancy but it is comfortable and clean. Not a great neighborhood but there is a parking lot that is inexpensive. Wouldn't use it for a long vacation but for a few nights you can't beat it.
“Good hotel and close to USC”
Good price and location.
“kind of disapointed.”
Historic hotel, but kind of run down. Restaurant is not opened for lunch. They are short staffed, so customer service was not good. The room was tiny and cramped. The window had no screens and there was a 9 story drop which is dangerous. We were frustrated with the lack of effort to try and accomodate us. The room doesn't have. an individual thermostat. The parking was not included in the price. It was an extra $10.00 per night which was not quoted in the reservation site. I will not be staying there again.
“If ever in L.A. stay at this hotel”
First time in L.A. Stayed two nights. This hotel is within walking distance to the financial district, the subway station, the freeway, and much more. I would recommend this hotel to others and would stay at this hotel in the future. An older hotel that has charm. The surrounding neighborhood at night can be a shock to someone not astute to urban living. A good price, great location; overall a well run little hotel.
