Nice hotel, close to our destination.

We booked our room last minute for an event. Front desk was very nice, explained our options and rooms. When we arrived they checked us in early as we explained over phone we needed to check in early. Hotel is 90 years old so I didn't know what to expect, overall stay was good, people were very freindly.

Not what I expected.

The surrounding area of this hotel was very shady. The only good thing about the surrounding businesses was the 711 a block away, but there isn't much else at walking distance. Nor would I recommend walking anywhere in that neighborhood. It was a bit off putting to have to pay for parking in their parking structure as their hotel guest. I'd much rather have them add that cost to the total and tell me it's free to park. The hotel lobby looks just like the pictures, but everything else needs major remodeling. The elevators alone seemed to be unreliable which was scary. The hotel room was super hot when we first walked in but luckily they had an ac unit. They also provide a pretty sizable fridge with freezer, which was a plus, but no microwave. Stains on the carpet and dusty old box tv set. Furniture looked like it was falling apart. The only thing that looked really clean were the sheets. Bathrooms super small. Boyfriend joked he had to pee to the side. Found hairs from previous guests between the towels and in the tub. That was a bit gross. Would not stay again.

Great value for the money

Pros: Ease of parking-handsome lobby, very good breakfast buffet.
Cons: I had a non-smoking room, and it was odorless. The hallways reflected many years of smokers. New carpet should handle this.
Location: Not much of interest in the immediate neighborhood, but downtown LA restaurants, Staples Center and LA convention center are within easy reach.
I enjoyed my stay at the Historic Mayfair. It has been nicely maintained. It enjoys an excellent location to downtown, the equal of the Bonaventure at much less cost, and with lots easier access to parking. The Staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good. I highly recommend this hotel.

Poor experience staying at Mayfair

Pros: The front lobby was decent; The location of the hotel, near to USC, about 10 minutes drive.
Cons: Needs remodeling. Small room, with a tiny little bath room. Needs cleaning the vent, redecorate.

We had very bad experience staying at this hotel. Room was very small, the bath room was even smaller. The bathroom was the basically the size of a stall at a public restroom. It was extremely difficult to get into the bathroom and get out through the narrow doorway. There was no exhaust fan in the bath room. The exhaust vent was very dirty, hadn't been cleaned for years. The window curtain were dirty, the blanket on the bed appeared very old and may not have been cleaned either. The decoration of the room was poorly done. The only positive part of the hotel is the lobby-extremely fancy and large.

Location is fine and public transportation like buses stops in front of the hotel. They have reasonable choices for light breakfast. Lobby is decent BUT the SLEEPING ROOM WAS FILTHY YOU DON'T WANT TO STEP ON THE CARPET WITH BAREFOOT. Small bathroom and dark hallway. Hotel could be nice if properly maintained and taken cared.

Called the hotel about 7 times before check in and it just rung, no answer whats so ever. Room was dusty. Bathroom looked gross. I do not recommend. Not worth the cost.

Overpriced Hotel

Lobby is nice, elevator makes a lot of noise when in use, wall paper in hallways needs to be reapplied, rooms are small, restroom is smaller, there are lots of areasof the room that hhaven't been cleaned in a long time, $15 dollar parking fee, beds didnt even had comforters, when I asked for extra blankets I was told there was none!

Great place to crash

Beautiful lobby, wonderful, quick service by the hotel staff. Not a penthouse suite, but very good place if you just want to look for a place to crash.
