“Horribly Misrepresented”
The Expedia reviews as well as the hotel's website made this place seem like a great idea for my fiancee's 30th birthday. Once we got there, we realized that the hotel was in no way as advertised. The hotel itself is dirty and dingy. The toilet and shower in the bathroom were filthy, the bed was uncomfortable and low to the ground, and the room was tiny. This place might appeal to some as a surfer-style hotel, but for the price, this place was a horrible deal.
“Charming Hotel”
Located right in the crazy mix of Venice Beach, the Venice Beach Suites and Hotel is a charming boutique hotel. The building is old, however the rooms were adequately equipped. Each room has one queen bed with a rollaway bed offered. Satellite TV was available as well. The room we stayed in had a small kitchen area with a stove, microwave, and refrigerator. I loved the hardwood floors. Yes, there are no a/c units. But you don't need an a/c unit most days in So. Cal. Yes, the building is old. It is what it is. The rooms are not big and there are brick walls. But what do you expect from a building from the early 20th century? There is no parking lot, but they have a parking agreement with a lot about two short blocks away. Not a big deal. In fact, the gentleman at the front desk walked down to the lot to make sure everything was okay. About the neighborhood. If you get uncomfortable around any type of counter-culture, you won't like Venice Beach. Venice Beach is wacky. It is busy. There are hippies and bums and punk kids and freaks around the boardwalk and side streets. But most are harmless. Still, if the idea of anything other than boring whitebread suburbia makes you nervous, you need to stay in Santa Monica or Marina Del Rey. Just expect to pay more. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I can't say enough good things about they way everyone treated us. It was quite refreshing. Overall, I would stay here again and recommend to others.
“IT'S WORTH A TRY!”
Venice Beach Suites And Hotel was located on the boardwalk and the front room had a dynamic view of the beach... that was all that was really necessary! The hotel room was like an apartment and was clean. The manager was friendly (though no Saturday maid service). Would not hesitate to stay again but am looking for something a bit more. Parking Was Expensive if you are from the West Cost but we paid anyway for safety and convenience.
“Mats”
In a typical bohemic neighbourhood. Both homeless and very expensive homes mixed in the surroundings. Worn but clean. Friendly staff. Location perfect at V beach
“Never again !”
If you like homeless people every where, scratchy towels, uncomfortable feelings after dark when you leave your hotel, constantly being approached by someone to buy something, no secure parking, then this is the place for you. Good luck
“will return”
for someone with diet restictions, having a kitchen was great, and great price. good location too. front desk was very helpful with maps, directions, and information about the area and where we wanted to go. the weather could have been better, but they cant control that.
“Extremely interesting, comfortable and exciting for a couple of days stay”
Hotel employees were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The whole area is worth checking out. Enjoyed walking out the door straight across the boardwalk and onto the beach. There is a wonderful small BarBQue cafe about 1 block away. I think hotel a little overpriced, but worth the experience. Lots to see or do for a couple of days.
“right on the beach in LA's funkiest neighborhood”
We were staying with friends in the area and realized it would be best to find a hotel for our last night before flying home and rather than staying near the airport we searched for a hotel on the beach and found Venice Beach Suites, which is truly right on the beach. We didn't have a car which didn't matter, there's tons to do within a few blocks. I fulfilled a life long dream and got my first tattoo (my astrological sign) and had a super Italian dinner at the south end of the boardwalk with my hubby, good times, good red wine... When I come back to LA, I would stay here in a heartbeat. (and probably get another tattoo!!)
“Bad customer service!!!!”
When I arrived to the desk the guy was cleary on a personal call and when he saw me he was clearly annoyed by my presence and rolled his eyes and told the person on the phone, "Ill call you back!" He seemed to hate his job because he wasn't smiling or friendly at all.
“AMAZING!”
This has been one of my fav experiences ever. My bf (Jeff) got us this room for the week and I couldn't be happier. I can see the ocean from bed when I wake up in the morning and we didn't even get an ocean facing room. The kitchenette and brick walls and hardwood floors make it feel homey and warm instead of like a cold hotel room. The parking was difficult, and we ended up just paying to park, but from what i can see, none of the hotels directly on the boardwalk have parking and the stay is COMPLETELY worth it. Plus the manager was really cool and helpful about everything, even with finding our way around town since we're new here.
