Luxurious hotel in busy location

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: The rooftop pool!
Hotel lobby and rooftop pool was gorgeous. Free coffee in lobby but no coffee machine in roon. Room was small but well fitted out and trendy.

Wonderful hotel!

My partner and I loved this hotel! The staff were so pleasant and helpful. Concierge was amazing. Shannon helped us with credit card issues, told us good places to eat and drink and organised our trip to Disneyland. The facilities are great. Jazz night on Sunday is a must see. Overall, we would stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Perfect Hotel

Posted Apr 2, 2014
Pros: The Bar, the rooms, the pool everything
Cons: Nothing
The W was all we could have hoped for. The bar down stairs was always full of action. Plenty of people to mingle with and have a drink. No need to leave the hotel to go for a night out. The restaurant was top quality. Amazing food. Will be staying there again if we go back to LA! My wife and I loved it

Great Hollywood Hotel

Posted Mar 24, 2014
We had a lot a fun - awesome location across the street from the Pantages, and plenty of great places to eat and hang out. Very friendly staff. Lively Saturday night scene at the hotel bars. Only problem we had was requesting a iPhone cable, and not getting it for 45 minutes, until after we talked to the 3rd person to cancel the request. It's pretty expensive, but the location and overall experience made it worth it.

Beautiful Hotel Horrible Staff

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: The beds and room itself were very comfortable.
Cons: The bar staff can't make the simplest of drinks as they seem to only be able to pour shots and be rude. There is a very limited bar in the pool area.
Spent the day at the pool and was disappointed by the staff and quality of service and goods. The food I ordered was cold, I had to tell the bartenders how to make a gimlet and then it was still gross as was a margarita my friend ordered which was just sour mix and tequila. Nothing was fresh, the bartenders were rude and I expect more if I'm paying what I paid for the drinks and the room! Would not go back here again.

Gorgeous!

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: The staff was very friendly and the pool on the rooftop was incredible!!
Location: The location is excellent because you have buses, metro lines, cabs, restaurants, museums, theaters...literally feet away!
I took my mother and sister for a one-night experience of the Hollywood strip...we just loved it! My sister and I couldn't stop taking pictures of all of the views, especially from the rooftop swimming pool. The hotel's guests were ethnically diverse, which made it even more fun for me! I will definitely go back to the W!

Good, not great hotel.

Posted Mar 16, 2014
There were two options for wifi. If I remember correctly it was $10.95 and $21.95. I went for the $10.95 options, but at check out I was billed twice for $21.95. I had to email the hotel manager... a credit was issued. The shower in the room was clogged. Every time I showered water would get as high as my ankles. Other than that, everything else was good. Staff was very friendly.

W Hotel in Hollywood - "W" stands for waste.

Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: The location was perfect and booking it through Expedia was very easy.
Cons: There was so much attitude from the moment we stepped out of our car. Take five minutes and ask the staff to at least "act" like they like their job.
I wanted to get away for a night with my wife. We really needed it. If I'm going to pay $600 for a room. $100 for 2 drinks and an appetizer at the bar. $36 to park my car. And $60 for a pot of coffee and some eggs - it would be nice if one of the employees acted as if they were glad we were there and not look at me like I'm putting them out when I ask for some help with my bags. We also got a nice eye roll from the hostess when we went to the hotel restaurant for dinner. - I don't mind paying a lot of money to stay at a hotel - I don't mind carrying my own bags up to the room - but it would be nice, if at some point, at least one staff member smiled or at least lost the "attitude". I called and requested a high floor but that was ignored. - I loved the location of the W.

Unless you're famous, don't stay at the W

Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Hold a reservation!
I was shocked to find out when I arrived at the W that they were overbooked and had given our room away! I booked the room three months ago so don't know how this could have happened. I arrived at 4:00 so was not late checking in. The only thing I can imagine is someone with much more clout called and requested a room and rather than saying no, the W elected to boot us. They did arrange for a room elsewhere, but my wife and I were set on staying at the W because we were seeing a show across the street. Last time I trust the W to hold a room for us.
