Great location. Accommodating staff ... But really needs an update! Foil wallpaper, hard beds and late 90's fixtures detract from what I expected from the W.

Fashion Over Substance

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: It was located adjacent to UCLA, so very convenient if that's where you're going.
Cons: Choose furnishings that fit the looks of the hotel, but are comfortable. No one that sat on that couch for more than 5 minutes would approve it.
Location: UCLA and Westwood at your doorstep. The rest of LA just beyond.
Very fashionable, as might be expected from a "W", but sitting on that great looking couch in our newly renovated room felt like I was sitting on a church pew. Hard and upright...but with slippery leather. Combine this with all the construction, and what seems to be most hotels' policies (not just this hotel) that puts Expedia customers in the worst room on the floor (i.e. next to the stairwell, which BTW had plastic covered carpet covered with dry wall dust, and people going in and out starting at 6am) and I'm not even sure I'll use them again.

Under renovations

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Booked this not knowing it was under renovations meaning the lobby, bar and restaurants were all closed. The outdoor bar was the only thing open. People stay at the W for the experience and ambiance. There was none of that but there was a lot of hammering and noise from renovations taking place all over the hotel.

My favorite hotel. Customer service is key.

Top notch! Always seem to get free upgrades.. Maybe because they were renovating.

Under renovations - no heat in room

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Cons: Heat? if I'm paying $300 a night, a little heat would be nice
All was mostly ok, except there was no heat coming out of the AC system, only cool air, so we were pretty much cold at night.... make sure you ask for heat if you come there in the winter...

Relax and stay this way..

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: Service, room decoration and friendly check-in. Pool area and music in the hotel.
Cons: Valet parking price! As always tooo expensive!!!
Location: Beverly Hills.......what is more to say
A friendly, hip, fashion, under construction, but who cares, nice pool and friendly staff hotel. Super friendly check-in and good (again) hip rooms. Yes, you can go there if you are between 23 and 49 years. That is the what W Hotel wants. Hip and friendly (good) looking people. If this is ok? No, but who cares...it's Beverly Hills!

Not the W I expected.

Posted Nov 8, 2014
I have stayed in W around the world and this one is not up to the standard. The hotel room is not clean and I can still see the dirt on sofa. The TV controller is not functioning and I have to use the spare one to control the TV. The airconditioning is awful as I was freezing even though the temp was set to 26C. The elevator access key slot is not functioning and I need to swab the elevator few times. The worst part is the staff: I was carrying a large luggage when I checked in and the guys standing at the entrance just didn't help. Last but not the least that I was not informed about the renovation there in the lobby and the environment is really not pleasing at all.

Housekeeping services were sub-optimal. One day, we did not receive maid service. There were spilled french fries in the hallway for 24 hours before they were cleaned-up (they still missed one).. There was trash in the pool that was being used by guests. Over many hours the staff just walked-by it. My wife cleaned it up before we went into the pool. The pool restaurant was incredible. They had a very creative menu, and the food was cooked to perfection. We would go back to the hotel for this alone, it was so good. Really, only the housekeeping was sub-par.
