Cons: Better up keep.
It would have not been so bad if the carpet were clean.

Don't stay if you have a sensitive nosePosted Aug 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
First thing I noticed when booking was that rooms for smokers needed to be special ordered. When walking up to my room I noticed all the doors had signs that said no smoking (including mine). They key card system was a little unresponsive. When I got my door open, the first thing I smelled was a pervasive odor of smoke. After 20 minutes I got used to it. I would reccommend storing your clothing in a sealed bag if you don't want the smell to get on them. I did however leave several times. Everytime I returned I needed to get used to the smell again. The doors were also slightly warped so there was a possibility that you could wake people up when closed it. On the up side they did have a selection of 60+ channels that most people tend to watch.

Average hotel at a good pricePosted Aug 13, 2013
Pros: Good price
Location: Its around 70 miles from the entrance to Yosemite. You would need aroud 2.5 hrs to reach any trail or point
Needed a place to crash and thats all this hotel has to offer. Though it says it will provide breakfast, it just had coffee and few mini muffins

Affordable and cost-efficient hotel in MercedPosted Aug 6, 2013
This Vagabond Inn is a very cost-effective and efficient place to stay for travelers (especially UC Merced students, faculty and staff) who will be spending most of their time in Merced elsewhere. The staff is very polite and friendly. Room service staff are non-intrusive and polite about knocking on room doors prior to entry. My only complaint is the noise of the evening trains that pass throughout the night near 15th street. They are quite loud for those who have sensitive ears. Then again, if you enjoy perfectly sound sleep and the other amenities of more luxurious hotels, then the Vagabond Inn probably isn't your first choice to begin with. All in all, I'm not quite sure why this hotel is rated below 4 stars! From my travel experience, the place is a solid 4 stars and a very cost-effective place to stay for those conducting short-term travel in Merced.

Smelly roomPosted Jun 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were supposed to be in their last non smoking room but when we walked in it smelled like cigarettes so bad. There's no way it was a non smoking room that someone mistakenly smoked in. That was a "long time" smell. After booking the room, we were told we had to wait an hour for them to actually receive the reservation. Not good when you are very tired. We fell asleep in my car while waiting.
