Pros: Staff - great service and compassion, accommodations, food (both pre and post hurricane)
We choose Barceló Grand Faro for a family gathering because of a favorable experience at that location in the past. We arrived the day before Hurricane Odile decided to make her appearance on the Baja Peninsula. The hotel staff prepared well for the storm and established safe areas for the guests to stay for the duration of the storm. They expedited inspecting the hotel grounds after the storm so we could return to the "comfort" of our own rooms. Even though the main power was out, we had emergency electricity in the rooms that provided adequate lighting and outlets to charge cell phones. The hotel has its own water system so we were only without running water for about a day and a half while they drained and refilled their storage tank. Bottled water was always available and, considering the conditions after the storm, they served three great meals a day. I have nothing but praise for the staff during this ordeal and especially want to thank Aldos, Arturo, Rigo and Pedro - they were especially helpful and considerate. The hotel provided up-to-date information regarding repatriation efforts and they also provided transportation to the airport to catch exodus flights. The next family gathering that is scheduled during hurricane season will definitely be at this hotel! (Note - the hotel facilities condition is the rating pre-hurricane...)

Great staff, we got caught in a category 1 hurricane for two days during our stay and the staff was very friendly and accommodating during that time. Food was great!!

Pros: The location on the beach. The hotel staff. The open air patio in front by the lobby.
Cons: The pool chairs.
Location: Short walk to downtown San Jose del Cabo. Close to bus line if you wanted to go to Cabo San Lucas.
We spent 6 days here and had a great time. Our first time for an all-inclusive and we were not disappointed. The buffets were good and the Italian a la carte restaurant was excellent. Good entertainment, especially the Mexican Fiesta, on our last night. The hotel staff was real pleasant and always willing to help out. For the food service, Lucio in particular stood out. He was very nice and always did extra to make our meals a good experience. Even though it was an all-inclusive resort we felt tipping was the same as if we were at home and we would encourage others to do the same.

Pros: IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION BUT THE SERVICE IS VERY BAD..
Cons: ALL SERVICE ESPECIALLY IN THE FOOD..NEED S MUCH IMPROVEMENT..

THE FOOD AT THE BUFFET VERY BAD TASTE EVERY DAY AT BREAKFAST WAS THE SAME THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING DIFFERENT IN THE BUFFET.I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE I WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED THIS HOTEL TO ANYBODY...ON ARRIVAL MY ROOM WAS NOT READY AND THEY SENT ME ANOTHER ROOM AND CHANGE TO THE NEXT DAY TO ANOTHER ROOM...SERVICE SUCKS..

We have stayed at the Barcelo before but it was down the street and their new location We had high hopes....Make sure your free upgrade is what it states because I originally got a room that was supposed to be ocean view and it was a view of a wall with ivy and a palm tree- no ocean. I didn't want to mention it but since our stay was short I did. They were nice about the room change. Hotel Rooms are dated- not like it was before. Front entry of the room had water on the floor during our entire stay and we could never find where the water source was coming from. AC can't be controlled in the room so you have to call front desk to turn it on. All inclusive food are set at a time frames- so you can only eat at certain restaurants at certain times and on certain days. I missed the old Barcelo hotel and it's standards.

Cons: could have used a few more staff for bar service and at times better trained batenders. several drinks were made off the menues and still made wrong
Location: On the beach near Los Cabos. Easy walk to Los Cabos for a little shopping, easy public trans to Cabo for shopping. quiet relaxing resort
When we checked in we were upgraded from ocean view to ocean front which was further away from the beach but had a straight on view instead of an angle view. Everything in and around the hotel was pretty nice. We were a ten minute walk to the Mege store where we could catch public transportation to Cabo, it's very easy so dont let them tell you any different, and a lot cheaper than a taxi. The only issues we had we inconsistencies with service. Some days we would not get face cloths or coffee in our room, on others the itinery we had for events and daily dining were incorrect. It was nothing major just a minor inconvenience. Overall we had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed our time in Los Cabos and our trips to Cabo. Our fishing trip with Cabo Adventure Sport Fishing (Fati fishing) in los cabos was excelent. Ricardo and Pablo Aripez are excelent guides and very friendly people. We had to book the trip oursevles though since the concierge for expedia at barcelo or the tour company at the hotel would not help me with the company i wanted to fish with..

The idea of the place is great and everything is included; drinks, food, mini bar, we were only charged for laundry service. It was difficult with the room situation because we were put in a room that we didn't book at first and it wasn't even ready; the cleaning lady was still in there and looked like she just started. then we were moved to the room we originally booked and a cleaning lady was there too finishing up. were my cleaning standards met? no, there were places that were blatantly not touched and my daughter was so excited to use the bathtub for a bubble bath and it was dirty and not cleaned once while we were there. the staff was excellent though, very nice and accommodating and always quick to greet us and do anything we asked them. food wasn't the best at the buffet, I liked certain foods over others. the Mexican restaurant, Los Jimenez I believe it's called was good and the waiters were super nice. If the food and the cleanliness was better I would come back.

Pros: The great shower and towels.
Cons: Send a map that can be emailed to help a driver.
Location: I only stayed 1 day.
The room was great and the view was tops. Food was excellent and the bar was well staffed.

Pros: the food in the buffet was always very good
Cons: service, follow thru, get rid of the bate and switch tactics, general customer service
Location: stayed in resort due to wedding and weather
1.staff had no follow upon problems : in room phone did not work for our entire stay even after repeated requests to repair. 2. towels - water - were not replaced when room was cleaned - with no phone we had to go down to desk to replace towels or communicate with others in our party 3. staff did not try to help, they tended to talk among themselves and ignore us when we tried to place drink or food orders by the pool 4.taxi service hotel told us to use had us pay up front for round trip fair, then when we scheduled our return to airport trip taxi service they could only take us at one time reguardless on the fact we told them this would make us wait at the airport for 4 hours 5.dinner at restaurant took over 4 hours to be served and the food was cold 6. air conditioning did not work for a bridal dinner of 20 - took over 4 hours to be served in a very hot and steamy room - people actually left because of the conditions. 7.not my issue but my sons room ceiling caved in -literally ceiling and water and there was delayed and no followup.

The all inclusive was great. We had some issues with a rowdy neighbor and a ceiling leak, but we were switched to another room promptly. The breakfast was good, however I do NOT recommend the sushi place it was pretty bad. The Mexican Fiesta dinner was great on our last night. Please remember that this is Cabo San Jose not San Lucas so it is more family oriented and quiet.
