Nice hotel, but food isn't the best.

Posted Aug 17, 2014
The all inclusive was great. We had some issues with a rowdy neighbor and a ceiling leak, but we were switched to another room promptly. The breakfast was good, however I do NOT recommend the sushi place it was pretty bad. The Mexican Fiesta dinner was great on our last night. Please remember that this is Cabo San Jose not San Lucas so it is more family oriented and quiet.

the people was great , but

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: this is not for party people, every nite it closed up by 11pm
Location: to far from anything to do much. all fun was in san lucus. this is a family place only to me.most couples we met will not be back.
watch out for the ocean view.there not ocean view. there suppose be ocean front rooms. they first put us on bottom floor by a swimming pool. but finally got moved to another room so we could almost see the ocean. other than that the rooms were nice and clean.and the workers were very nice.

Outstanding Cabo Experience

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: I liked that it was an all inclusive Hotel.
Location: The location is near the Mar Cortez, there a very close shopping district and the hotel provides tours for you to do.
My Daughter and I stayed at Barceló for 18 days and we had an amazing time. This Hotel was an all inclusive, all our meals and drinks where provided. The staff was friendly and very helpful and insured our stay was the best. The entertainment staff was the best and always had a positive attitude. The restaurants where amazing quality, our favorite was the Sushi bar up in the sky bar. They only thing we didn't like was that you couldn't actually swim in the beach because the waves where dangerous. Overall I cannot complain I had a great stay will diffidently recommend and book Barceló for our next trip.

Okay, But Needs Work

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The pool, proximity to the beach
Cons: The food
We were booking a very last minute trip on a budget, so the odds were stacked against us. The hotel was great under those circumstances, but had I planned in advance, I would have likely been disappointed. We reserved a King room but ended up spending our first night in two double beds. They fixed the problem the next day and offered free internet (which we thought was included) to make up for the mistake. The first room needed work--they definitely need to re-caulk the shower tiles, clean or upgrade the upholstery and replace the curtains. The second room was a huge improvement but overall, the hotel needs updating. The staff was friendly (most were English speaking) and we enjoyed the amenities. The food was average, but good enough to keep us fed. As an aside, beware of being scammed at the airport. We thought we were being shown to the taxi's, but ended up being convinced to "tour" a local property the next day. The tour was, in fact, a 3 hour Time-Share presentation that we were tricked into attending. We ended up with a few free activities, but it was not worth the hassle and we did not appreciate being tricked.

A Very Pleasant Stay Not in Actual Cabo San Lucas

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The staff were always incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was really tasty. I enjoyed the days of just lounging and playing water volleyball.
Cons: Rides to and from the airport are a sketchy deal. It would be very helpful if Barceló had their own shuttle to transport guests without the trials.
Location: The location, right on the beach, was beautiful. The sand is very course, though, and the current is rough. 'Lots of tours: zip lining, snorkeling, etc
I got a great last minute deal, giving me about 1.5 days to prepare and pack. I knew nothing about the Barceló chain of hotels, and because I had already been to the town of Cabo San Lucas four times and stayed a week there each for three of them, it was a nice change to be off the beaten path. For Americans who assume that all hotel chains are the same, it's important to realize that certain aspects of U.S. hotels aren't necessarily top priority for the rest of the world. A minor example of this is how ice machines are not placed where guests can just walk down the hallway and fill a bucket. I had to go to the bar or a restaurant to get ice for my swollen lip. This is not the case at the Barceló, but there are places in Mexico where the pipes aren't up to flushing the paper through, so trashcans are placed for it near the toilet. Tipping is important, so bring a large stack of 1's and 5's with you, as getting cash and change is not always convenient, and there's no ATM on site. I went to get away from the stress of life in my own beautiful city, and it was a mission accomplished. Just be ready for all the people who will "invite" you to see hotels or condominiums, any place you go. I told them they were giving me a new source of stress, and with a smile of understanding, they left me alone. As a resort property, Barceló is beautiful and has a wonderful pool with lots of activities to keep guests occupied. You should know that the sea is way to rough to swim!

Not the greatest.

Unfortunately the food was terrible most of the time. I didn't expect fine dining but the food quality can definitely improve. Other than the food, the hotel is okay.

Had a Wonderful Time

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: The staff, the food, the all-inclusive package
Cons: Cleanliness of dishes
We had a great time at the Barcelo Grand Faro. The staff was the best! When we first checked in they assigned us to a room with two twin beds. We went back and asked for a room with a king bed, but were told none would be available until the next day. Then, about an hour later, one of the managers actually tracked us down in the bar and told us a room had opened up, and we could move right away! I was very impressed that they went through the extra effort to actually let us switch that evening instead of just making us wait until the next day. Also, the new room had a much nicer view. A couple notes: 1. They do not give you conditioner, so if you use it, you should bring your own. 2. The cups the drinks are served in are simply dipped in soapy water, quickly rinsed off, then reused. I noticed some people brought their own cups - if you are concerned about the cleanliness of this practice, you may want to do that too. 3. The Mango Fresco is the best drink ever! If you like mango, get one of those. 4. If you want a spot in the shade, you should reserve your lounger EARLY, like before breakfast. By 11AM, very few shady spots are left. 5. If you don't like splashing kids, the Infinity pool near the beach is much quieter than the main pool.
