Playa Grande Resort & Spa

Posted Apr 15, 2014
The hotel appearance was nice, the staff was very friendly and the hotel had many activities scheduled each night. However, the hotel management is not very flexible or accommodating. Hotel comps do not exist at this hotel, you pay for everything. There is a miniature golf course and tennis courts along with a fitness center, to use any of these facilities you have to pay a fee. Every hotel I have stayed at that has a fitness center or tennis courts, I could use at no extra charge. The spa is world class and I enjoyed all of the treatments that I had scheduled. The suite we had did have a full kitchen and I would suggest that if you intend to stay at this resort, you buy most of your food and prepare it in the suite. The pool and beach was beautiful and the property is located right on the beach for romantic moonlit walks. This hotel does offer time shares and after check in you need to see one of the staff who will try and get you to attend a breakfast or lunch to hear the sales pitch, they will offer discounts on activities, meals and spa treatments to get you to attend. We declined since we have no interest in purchasing a time share in Cabo or anywhere for that matter. All in all we would stay at this hotel and resort again but would be prepared for the "no frills" environment at the hotel.

Nice resort, comfortable room

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: The bed, the shower, the pools.
We stayed at Playa Grande with our 3 kids (6, 9, 12). The resort was beautiful, our room clean and the king size bed was extremely comfortable. The pools were great. As a guest and not an owner, we could not go to the pool that was part of the ridge but the other 3 pools were great. You cannot swim at the beach that the resort is located but you can play on the sand and enjoy the view. The food was good as well. Overall we had a great experience at the hotel.

Comfortable home away from home

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Our first trip to Mexico was a sun filled relaxing reset. The resort was every bit as lovely as the pictures. The staff was all overly helpful and extremely friendly. The pool area was large and left plenty of activities for the kids (8&10) to do. Short walk to Marina and downtown. Once out of the resort we were hit up left and right for some kind of purchase: tours, music, rides, trinkets etc. we learned the polite "no" quickly. Some other reviewers mentioned the time share. Don't waste your precious vacation time doing this unless you are truly interested in buying. We were promised two activities and a food credit. After wasting 3.5 hours at the other resort we were told neither tour had reservations available for the next 3 days, therefore we were unable to utilize this "gift". Overall a really great trip and highly recommend the resort.

Better this time around

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Location is the best; only 15 minute walk to downtown restaurants and bars.
Cons: Some of the housekeeping staff don't understand basic English so a simple request to make sofa bed every night wasn't done.
Location: The hotel is perched on the pacific side of the peninsula but a close walk to all of the downtown attractions which means you don't even need taxi.
We had a very pleasant short stay at the Hotel (4/3 thru 4/7). This time around we ate outside the hotel which worked well for us since there are so many upscale options a short 15 minute walk. Did have a 2 for 1 bloody mary and couldn't detect a drop of Vodka. The biggest improvement over past trip was we avoided the timeshare push by the hotel staff. Our room was very nice and comfortable with an excellent view. We were in building M on level 4 which means we were above palm trees and had a great view of pool and ocean.

The perfect hotel for a fun family vacation.

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: The hotel was clean and provided a very safe atmosphere for the entire family.
Cons: The excellent cleaning crew did not show up to our room until 2:00 or 3:00 pm each day. Understandable since they new to do the check out rooms.
Location: Hotel is a medium walk from downtown, short walk to Marina and backs up to the beach.
The location of the hotel is very good. Medium walking distance to downtown area. Short walking distance to the Marina. Located on the beach. The grounds are beautiful. There is a good pool, excellent beach and 9 hole putting course for the family. The staff was excellent. Very professional, helpful and friendly. The best part for me was the rooms. Large rooms that were extremely clean. As close to sound proof as you can get. The guest in the room next to us had three kids and I never heard them or the tv from inside the room. The room has a full kitchen with dishes. We caught fish one day and cooked it in our kitchen. It was the best meal of the trip. Room service was fast and great selection of food.

Spring Break in Cabo

Posted Apr 2, 2014
Pros: Everything…the food/drink, pool facilities, beach, views...and not too close to Medano Beach where most of the spring break college students hang out.
Cons: Didn't need the timeshare sales pitch.
Location: Great location and an easy walk to the marina and downtown.
Very satisfied…the resort had everything we needed.

Great Resort!

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Our family of 5 had a great spring break at Playa Grande! We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which worked for our family. The staff and food was good, we went the the beach party and Latino dancing show! The pools were very nice, but you had to go early to get your seats. The location was very good, close to the marina and town! The wifi was a bit spotty for the price we paid, though.

Nice hotel and walking distance to many places

Posted Mar 23, 2014
Pros: We enjoyed hanging out by the pools. The room was very clean and great view of the pools and ocean. We enjoyed happy hour from 2-4 everyday.
Cons: The gym charges a high price to use and too many people trying to sell you time shares.
Location: We enjoyed breakfast at The Office on the beach and Mama's. Go to Maro's, La Dolce, & Salavatore's for dinner. Baja Brewing for a great view.
We had a great time in Cabo. The hotel was walking distance from the Marina, beach, and restaurants/bars. The pools were very nice. Many people place towels early on the lounge chairs but never show up for hours.
