Loved it! It was a great trip!

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Staff was awesome and the resort was very clean, quiet and absolutely beautiful. In the mountains so you have a bit of a 5-6 min walk down the hill to the marina and shops. You'll love this spot but definitely avoid the '90 minute' tour of the property / timeshare pitch. They try to lure you into going and then waste half of your day.

Fantastic hotel and staff!

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Our family of four, including my wife and 2 children, ages 7 and 4, traveled from NJ and stayed at the Playa Grande from 8/8-8/14. We had a terrific experience there - superb facilities and attentive staff, especially Luis who served us at the pool. We definitely go back again!

FUN, Relaxing

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Rooms - Beautiful and Comfy. Kitchenettes- Loved that we could have breakfast, lunch and beverages in our room Staff- Pleasant Location- Excellent
Cons: More cost effective kid friendly activities More cost effective all inclusive options (especially for kids) "Complimentary Shuttle to the Marina"
Location: Close to the marina. Walking distance. Close to beach via water taxi Close to shopping Dolphin Encounter- Wonderful
The hotel itself is beautiful; but the restaurants in my opinion were average with the exception of the pool or room service. We picked this hotel primarily because it was beachfront; but no one had told us that the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo San Lucas was not "safe" to swim in; therefore although the view was spectacular, the ability to play in the ocean was not an option. The all inclusive option in my opinion is not "cost effective" and therefore we choose to opt out. Although the hotel advertises several "restaurants", 2 of them are not actually on site; but in walking distance. I recommend "Romeo and Julietas"; but "Coyote Hacienda" was just "OK". The adult pool was under construction which didn't effect "us" since we have kids; but it left for limited pool space at the other pools which caused for some inconvenience in and of the fact we had to get out there early to get seats. If you weren't at the pool by 10:00, don't plan on having an umbrella or chair. Pool activities seemed fun; but needed to be more "kid" friendly. The rooms were "wonderfully" decorated and comfortable and all came with either pool, garden or ocean views. Although the property is private and atop a ridge, the inconvenience of walking up and down the hill to venture out was taxing. Overall our stay was fantastic; but wish the hotel staff was a bit more forthcoming about Marina restaurants and off site things to do that were not part of the hotel.

Nice hotel on beautiful quiet beach.

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: The location is excellent. Close to marina, arch rock and within walking distance to swimmable beach. Nice hotel pools, friendly staff great service.
Cons: Make the fitness center free to use and open the Ridge pool to Playa guests since they have closed one of the Playa pools for remodeling.
Location: The hotel is close to the marina which has shops, restaurants, activities and convenience stores. Walking distance to beach in Sea of Cortez.
We thought the hotel and staff were great. There are many landscapers, maintenance staff and other hotel workers cleaning, trimming, painting, raking sand etc. You can tell they really go the extra mile to ensure the hotel is kept up to a high standard. We did experience the downside to this however. We were given a ground level room upon check in. It was at night and we worried that our view would not be great as many other reviewers said 3rd or 4th floor provided great views of the ocean. We were very pleased to wake up the next morning and see a beautiful view of the pacific. It was great, pool right out our back door and wonderful view of the ocean so we were a little disappointed that on the 5th day of our stay they enclosed the pool area in tall black plastic and drained it. We were told they are retiling the pools beginning with the one closest to us. So it obstructed our view some and it got a little noisy with power tools after that but at least they are working to make it even better for future visitors. I didn't think it was bad enough to need remodeling but that is the key I guess, to make the change before anyone notices it is needed. So if you are staying there soon you might want to stay away from ground level places on the east side of the complex if possible. We found a quiet, swimmable beach within walking distance. When you leave the lobby go downhill and take a right on Blvd Marina. Not far to beach and we walked to Lover's Beach that way.

Pleasant, clean , great food and kid-friendly!

Posted Aug 2, 2014
We had such a wonderful stay at Playa Grande. We were actually housed in the luxury suites, Villas at the Ridge and was nothing short of excellent. Room was clean, spacious and plenty of room for our kids to run around. We have visited Cabo before and stayed at another 5 star resort and food did not even compare. Variety was delish and making dinner reservations was a breeze! Staff was genuinely hospitable. We loved it so much, that we actually purchased a timeshare at the mother resort, Grand Solmar. Would definitely recommend this place!!!!

No Swimming in the Ocean and No Coolers :-(

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Air conditioning in room was good
Cons: Allow epople to bring drinks to pool area
Location: Plenty of restuarants in downtown cabo 5 minute taxi ride from hotel
This hotel is located at the south end of Cabo behind the Marina and on the Pacific ocean side. I booked this hotel not knowing that there is no swimming allowed in the ocean. You can take a taxi to Medano beanch, Cabo Bay side, to get into sea water which will cost you $12 US for a 2 mile drive. Ocean swimming is prohibited all around Cabo due to dangerous rip tides and just me its no joke. The other thing that really ticked me off was that I bought a six-pack of beer from the Hotel Store and went down to their pool and was told I could not drink anything purchased from the store and had to order from their menu ($5-14 US per drink). Overall not at all what is advertised. If you are just looking for a nice hotel to hang out in with a nice room with close access to downtown Cabo, then maybe this hotel is for you. But if your like me and go for the ocean, go to one of the Medano Beach hotels.

Beautiful scenery!

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: The scenery and the staff.
Cons: No timeshare pitches and free WiFi.
Location: Marina is a 10 minute walk downhill for restaurants, shopping and excursions. Downtown area is about a 30 minute walk.
This hotel is just beautiful, and the scenery more stunning than the photos. The entire staff is wonderful. It is a 10 minute walk downhill to the marina, shops, restaurants and about 30 minutes to downtown. Felt very safe walking in the evening. Two drawbacks: (1) timeshare pitches and (2) WiFi is extra. Would definitely recommend.

Honeymoon

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Location and luxury.
Cons: Have more information about local attractions and things to do, in the hotel. Otherwise, it was the nicest place I've ever stayed at.
Location: Lots of shopping, some sights, and lots of activities close by. Dinner cruises, shopping in the local shops for souvenirs, good food all over town.
I enjoyed everything about the stay on our honeymoon, except the high pressure time-share people that we were directed to, as soon as we got there. We weren't even told what they were about initially. We ended up sitting through a supposed 90 minute presentation (we did get a fantastic breakfast free during the presentation), that actually lasted closer to two hours. When we said "no", we were sent to get our gifts for listening, instead, it was another person trying to sell us on it. Then when I firmly refused, we were sent somewhere else to get our gifts. That ended up being yet another person wanting to sell a "reduced package" to us. After firmly and politely saying no, we went our way. Otherwise, the hotel was gorgeous, the pools wonderful, the location was perfect and the room was very comfortable. I'd stay there again, in a heartbeat, but I'd refuse to listen to the sales pitch next time.

summer vacation

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Pros: close to the marina, private beach
Cons: free wi fi could be nice. other resorts do
Location: walking distance to the marina and town. private beach but not able to swim
our overall vacation experience was pleasant. from staff at front reception, valet and restaurant all were very accommodating. didn't upgrade to all inclusive for two reasons : food wasnt that good and price for upgrade was too much.
