Beautiful place, great view, wonderful activities

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Comfortable
Cons: Food took a while at some of the restaurants.
Location: Walked to the beach and Cabo Wabo which was one of the things we had planned to do.
Rooms were comfortable and staff was exceptional. Close to the many fun activities that are offered as well as entertainment which made our vacation a time to remember.

Nice hotel, great service, mediocre food

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Comfortable stay, quiet.
Location: Seems like the location would be convenient, but it is not. The hotel is pretty far (20 minutes) walk from most of the restaurants and Medano beach.
Hotel's located on Pacific side of Cabo, which means the beach on the pictures is unswimmable. Some of the pools are undergoing the restoration so limited facilities are available. That being said, rooms are really nice and clean and stuff is very helpful and friendly. Concierge stuff is a bit sales-oriented, though. We didn't like food at all. Our local macdonald's would be ashamed of the burger and fries we got at one of the restaurants, meat and shrimps weren't much better. House margarita defies description: you would be better off with beer. Overall, there are plenty of hotels in Cabo. No special reason to pick this one.

We. Loved. This. Hotel.

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Pool, location, rooms, activities,
Cons: We had some items taken from the pool area... No idea how or who but i guess just hold onto your belongings
Location: Close to the marina (1 minute walk). Very short drive (<5 mins) to Medano Beach. PG sits on a private beach that is beautiful but not swimmable.
I recently went to Cabo with my mum, we wanted to relax by the pool and the Playa Grande Hotel was perfect for us. Great location close to the Marina and a short drive to medano beach. The hotel is beautiful, great pool and our suite (Jr) was so nice we thought we must have been upgraded! We loved the mexican fiesta hosted by Roberto, Humberto, Sylvia, Luis and Rose. Roberto is hilarious as host and it was a great night. They also run the activities at PG which are a lot of fun. During our stay at PG it was mostly a family crowd, which suited us perfectly, so it was peaceful and quiet at night (note we stayed in early august so I'm sure it does get busier in high season) Overall a great stay, I'm so glad we booked Playa Grande! I would recommend it to anyone and definitely stay again.

Loved it! It was a great trip!

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Staff was awesome and the resort was very clean, quiet and absolutely beautiful. In the mountains so you have a bit of a 5-6 min walk down the hill to the marina and shops. You'll love this spot but definitely avoid the '90 minute' tour of the property / timeshare pitch. They try to lure you into going and then waste half of your day.

Luxury Resort with a Club Med Program

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Spa is wonderful. Rooms are spacious.
Cons: They have become a Club Med type program whereby there are activities going on all day long and night. It makes the pool area noisy.
Location: Locationally excellent in downtown Cabo. Within walking or taxi distance to everything.
I have been going to Playa Grande for over 10 years. I love this resort, but if you are looking for quiet and tranquility you should consider Las Ventanas or Esperanza. They had the adult pool under construction and the other pools are noisy and very busy. The construction was terrible and detracted from the experience. On top of that the property next door to Playa Grande was under pool contruction too. Our building "A" was sandwiched in between this noise. I was upset that neither Expedia or Playa Grande advertised this information about current construction. I would never have gone. For two nights I was woken up by a drucken group of young men staying at the resort as well. Playa Grande never attracted people like this. It was like a spring break type of situation. However, Playa Grande quickly and quietly handed the situation by moving the occupants to another section of the hotel. I do not believe this would ever have been handled as efficiently in the US. The room services both housekeeping and maintainence were outstanding. Response time was excellent to any needs or concerns. Service at the restaurants was slow, but always has been. This is an architecturally beautiful resort that is well laid out with beach access to the Pacific.

Fantastic hotel and staff!

Our family of four, including my wife and 2 children, ages 7 and 4, traveled from NJ and stayed at the Playa Grande from 8/8-8/14. We had a terrific experience there - superb facilities and attentive staff, especially Luis who served us at the pool. We definitely go back again!

FUN, Relaxing

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Rooms - Beautiful and Comfy. Kitchenettes- Loved that we could have breakfast, lunch and beverages in our room Staff- Pleasant Location- Excellent
Cons: More cost effective kid friendly activities More cost effective all inclusive options (especially for kids) "Complimentary Shuttle to the Marina"
Location: Close to the marina. Walking distance. Close to beach via water taxi Close to shopping Dolphin Encounter- Wonderful
The hotel itself is beautiful; but the restaurants in my opinion were average with the exception of the pool or room service. We picked this hotel primarily because it was beachfront; but no one had told us that the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo San Lucas was not "safe" to swim in; therefore although the view was spectacular, the ability to play in the ocean was not an option. The all inclusive option in my opinion is not "cost effective" and therefore we choose to opt out. Although the hotel advertises several "restaurants", 2 of them are not actually on site; but in walking distance. I recommend "Romeo and Julietas"; but "Coyote Hacienda" was just "OK". The adult pool was under construction which didn't effect "us" since we have kids; but it left for limited pool space at the other pools which caused for some inconvenience in and of the fact we had to get out there early to get seats. If you weren't at the pool by 10:00, don't plan on having an umbrella or chair. Pool activities seemed fun; but needed to be more "kid" friendly. The rooms were "wonderfully" decorated and comfortable and all came with either pool, garden or ocean views. Although the property is private and atop a ridge, the inconvenience of walking up and down the hill to venture out was taxing. Overall our stay was fantastic; but wish the hotel staff was a bit more forthcoming about Marina restaurants and off site things to do that were not part of the hotel.

Nice hotel on beautiful quiet beach.

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: The location is excellent. Close to marina, arch rock and within walking distance to swimmable beach. Nice hotel pools, friendly staff great service.
Cons: Make the fitness center free to use and open the Ridge pool to Playa guests since they have closed one of the Playa pools for remodeling.
Location: The hotel is close to the marina which has shops, restaurants, activities and convenience stores. Walking distance to beach in Sea of Cortez.
We thought the hotel and staff were great. There are many landscapers, maintenance staff and other hotel workers cleaning, trimming, painting, raking sand etc. You can tell they really go the extra mile to ensure the hotel is kept up to a high standard. We did experience the downside to this however. We were given a ground level room upon check in. It was at night and we worried that our view would not be great as many other reviewers said 3rd or 4th floor provided great views of the ocean. We were very pleased to wake up the next morning and see a beautiful view of the pacific. It was great, pool right out our back door and wonderful view of the ocean so we were a little disappointed that on the 5th day of our stay they enclosed the pool area in tall black plastic and drained it. We were told they are retiling the pools beginning with the one closest to us. So it obstructed our view some and it got a little noisy with power tools after that but at least they are working to make it even better for future visitors. I didn't think it was bad enough to need remodeling but that is the key I guess, to make the change before anyone notices it is needed. So if you are staying there soon you might want to stay away from ground level places on the east side of the complex if possible. We found a quiet, swimmable beach within walking distance. When you leave the lobby go downhill and take a right on Blvd Marina. Not far to beach and we walked to Lover's Beach that way.
