“Like being in a living infomercial”
Hotel rooms were extremely modest and one of the rooms smelled very funky. Most of the hotel staff was extremely nice and friendly but the main reason I wouldn't go back is the hard sell of their time shares. As soon as you step inside the hotel from your long journey, expect to be bombarded with many pitches and discounts for you to attend a time share seminar. Even after we said we'd rather pay more than sit through a seminar on our vacation, our "concierge" (he was no help with anything we asked) called our rooms to see if we changed our mind. I wouldn't be surprised I if all the all-inclusive hotels here worked this way - I will think long and hard before deciding if I want to go back to Los Cabos. It's really a pity because the area has plenty to offer in terms of hospitality, activities, beaches and shopping.
“Won't go back”
I have traveled many times to many different hotel's in Mexico. Los Cabos, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta. I am by no means a picky traveler, basically give me a comfy bed, a hotel with good service, and a nice beach with tasty drinks and I will be happy. When we arrived at the Royal Solaris Diego who helped us with check in was great, but that about was the end of it. When we got to our room we had 2 full beds instead of the 1 king we booked back in May. When we called the desk we were told it was based on availability. I told them that was unacceptable and they moved us to a king room. When we looked at our safe we needed a lock, we called the desk and were told they would not have any locks until the following morning. We checked out the hotel then went to bed. The bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on in my life, literally we had to call and ask for a pad, that did little to help. The breakfast buffet was ok, but nothing to write home about, the "lunch" buffet is tiny and always has a huge line, the dinner buffet left much to be desired. Overall this hotel had a nice beach and a decent bar, but the staff besides Diego was not very friendly, the bed was awful, the bathrooms were tiny. I will not be staying there again.
“"food was mediocre "”
We felt pressured from the minute we got to hotel to be forced into a seminar or presentation to buy a time share. The drinks and liquor were limited in choice and quality. The food was of low grade quality, like cafeteria food. The front desk staff were not helpful or that friendly. We bought a box lunch from the hotel to take fishing and it was awful, not impressed by any of the restaurants at the hotel. This hotel was average at best for an all-inclusive.
“Good value for the money”
Excellent service, rooms are very clean, grounds and pool are meticulously kept up. Recommend getting a rental car (beware that you will need to pay mandatory liability insurance), get an ocean view deluxe balcony if you can afford it and tip waiters and bartenders $1 per drink. They really appreciate it! Best way to get money is ATM, pesos are better if you are doing a lot outside the resort. We took side trips to Los Barriles, Las Frailes (in Cabo Pulmo) for snorkeling and to Todos Santos for a half-day trip. For snorkeling, we practically had the beach to ourselves and Todos Santos is lovely (beware the road there has parts that are unpaved due to construction--ask at the hotel to see if it has been completed) and has a lot of good artists. San Jose De Cabo also has some good art galleries. Food at Royal Solaris is average, recommend that you eat dinner when you can at the a la carte restaurants ---Marco Polo and Panchos. For vegetarians, they have a special menu. Buffets has vegetarian selections too but can be repetitive.
“Strongly recommend”
Very relaxing resort
“Fabulous”
This hotel was fantastic. We traveled with our children, ages 5 and 7, and they had a great time. The hotel and pool are beautiful. The staff is so friendly and the service is great. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment.
“will go back”
Was very satisfied.
“Great service! going back ASAP!”
The hotel is great! I loved it! the food was very good! the service is excellent especially from two servers Yaneth and Koray (I think that was her name) . I loved that they have a snack bar that stays open until 1 am!!!! they have cheeseburgers nachos cake ect .... the alcoholic drinks were good too! the only thing I disliked was that there was roaches in the room but it could be because the weather is so humid! and the bed was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! :( It was super hard! those are the only two things i dislike.
“Had a fantasic time!”
It's in a great location. Not too far from the airport and close to the little town of San Jose. It's also not very far from Cabo San Lucas. The hotel was very accommodating. Erick was our resource for the week and was very helpful and super friendly. The shows they had were EXCELLENT! We had stayed at another Solaris and the shows were not as well done as this one.The food was good and the beach was absolutely beautiful.
“disappointing”
- a bit run down, terrible mattresses! - friendly reception - nice animation crew, very active and performing good shows - buffet every evening the same despite fancy names (latin, mexican, international, french) - breakfast: disappointing fruit selection for Mexico (melons, melons, melons) and you become a tea drinker because of the coffee (amazingly no improvement since 20 yrs)! - no longer real Mexican...adopting to American food taste - partly slow and lousy service by the waiters (Ramon and Erik were great!)
