Decent hotel but disappointed with the servicePosted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: The service has a lot of room for improvement.
Location: Solmar has a great location within walking distance to the marina.
The hotel is dated but still in great condition, the rooms are clean, the beds are great, and there's a good menu variety in the restaurant. With that said, the service was not very good. My family and I have been traveling to various locations throughout Mexico over the last 10 years, this hotel had the worst service when compared to all of our other Mexico adventures. There were a few great servers such as a gentleman named Vicente but there were many more bad servers. Our dinners averaged 3 hours, partially due to the under staffing in the off season and partially due to the lack of service. We increased our tips in an effort to get better service, which did little to help. After several days of poor service, I spoke with Enrique Vargas, the hotel manager on duty. Enrique apologized for the service and promised to address the issue. For the rest of our stay the service was marginally better but still not up to par when compared to other all-inclusive resorts. Unfortunately my family and I will not be returning to Solmar.

Service bad!!Posted Sep 7, 2014
Worst resort I have ever been to. Food and drinks being served on the all inclusive pkg was bad. You had to go to them all the time for service. Had to sign for everything even with wearing bracket. Do not go to this resort.

Beware, the hotel is under constructionPosted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Hotel and Expedia should be un front about construction
Location: Great location
If you like to wake up to jack hammers and construction noise, this is your hotel. Staff was great, but the experience was dreadful. Also, no swim up bar, it is also under construction

Almost beach frontPosted Aug 31, 2014
The hotel needs a complete redo. Very run down and A/C didn't cool room enough.

6 days too longPosted Aug 30, 2014
Pool closes at 8pm, which is too early. Rooms have what appear to be mini ants in kitchen areas, only when coffee or food is present. Because of the low grout in the bathtub, there was no getting the sand washed out, taking a bath was out of the question. My room leaked when it rained. house keeping had to barricade the windows and slider with towels. Maintenance came by late one rainy evening with sandbags.

Solmar 1 week stayPosted Aug 30, 2014
Very disappointing as the pool closed at 8 pm ever night - hot tub was unusable 2 out of 6 evenings due to garbage being in it and no net around nor did staff around know were to get a net- On booking info said we could eat at sister hotel - yet when we got there was not allowed unless full pay- also no corona- only two types can beer and all cocktails tasted like extreme lime One couple with us there room flooded on two nights and the other couple refrigerator didn't work the entire stay even after multiple calls to front office- we were locked out if our room due to battery dieing in door which took 2 hrs to get us back in and door working

Great view but long walksPosted Aug 26, 2014
The staff was amazing, the rooms awesome and spacious. Food wonderful and pool great. The downfall was the walk to the room. No elevators and it you get the large suites they are on the upper part away from the restaurant and water bar. I have to admit it was a workout and I almost vomited once after having a awesome dinner.

Great view...great price...but boring!Posted Aug 24, 2014
It seems they are putting all their time and energy into new hotel. However, staff and food is great, but the pools are hot and the environment is mundane. If you want to just eat and sleep...stay here. If you are looking for fun, adventure or entertainment of any sort...this is not the place for you. This was our second time in Cabo and we wanted to be closer to downtown, but it was a wrong choice. I would rather go to San Jose Del Cabo and save money and have more ambiance than just a room at Solmar.

Nice secluded hotel walking distance from DowntownPosted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The food is amazing! They have 2 restaurants- Trebol and Tejaban and they have a Sushi bar. Everything I tried there was delicious!
Cons: More bartenders at the bar and faster service at the restaurants. I'd also ask for music at the bar during the day.
Location: The hotel is walking distance from Downtown. The marina is across the street also. The shuttle provided makes going to these places convenient.
SolMar is a very relaxing hotel with great staff. It's small size (100 rooms) makes the experience very intimate. It is easily accessible and I loved the fact that we didn't need an elevator to go to our room. We were upgraded to Room 2121 which is a 1-bedroom suite. It was walking distance from the lobby and about 20 feet from the pool. The Pacific Ocean is located behind the resort but you cannot swim in it due to the high currents. I was greeted by every staff member I came across during my entire trip and I met some amazing tourists there from California, Kentucky and Canada. Everyone always had a smile on their face and your presence was welcomed by every individual there! The pool bartenders Francisco and Jorge were always so happy to serve you and you never had to ask twice for a drink. The servers at the restaurants were extremely helpful and patient-Emmanuel, Miguel, Raul, Gerardo and the rest were so nice and make the experience there memorable! You do have access to the pool next door but after enjoying the small intimate pool here you will want to come back to SolMar to drink and swim.
