Best Family Spring Break Vacation

Pros: Absolutely everything!
Cons: Nothing I can think of
Location: Perfect location, far enough to feel secluded in nature, peaceful and relaxing yet close enough to city to do everything offered in the city as well,
We've traveled a lot over the years staying in many nice resort hotels but this one takes the cake. We have a 16 year old son and a 12 year old son. We were looking for a reasonably priced luxury resort where it was warm and sunny, relaxing, good food and had activities available if we wanted them. We struck gold with this choice. Customer service was best we've experienced in US. Steve at valet service was fantastic upon arrival. Malia and Darron by the pool went over and beyond. Each and every employee was friendly, helpful and actually seemed to love their job. The food was excellent. The activities were endless and most free of charge, bikes, tennis, hike trails, lazy river, slide, pool, s'mores over fire every night, pool table, checkers, chess, roaring fires to sit by, lawn movies, games, playground, popcorn, exercise room, basketball goal, frisbee golf, animals, wifi, self parking...all freebees! Natural, peaceful surroundings were breathtakingly beautiful and made us breathe deep and relax. A very short drive to austin airport and downtown made it easy and fun to have a rental car. Kayaking Barton springs and LBJ library worth trips.

All Encompassing Resort

Cons: Fitted sheets on the beds would be an improvement. Also, consistent delivery of morning newspapers to the rooms would be appreciated.
Location: Bastrap is a great little town to visit.
The location and the facilities are ideal for a long getaway weekend. Golf, swimming. horse back riding, biking, hiking are all very good. The hotel staff was exceptional. Everyone was friendly and customer oriented. Whatever they are doing from a training perspective is paying off. Couldn't have asked for more!

Beautiful scenic

Arrived in the hill country to find a blustery day however the hotel had activities available. And when the sky cleared I went on a bike ride around the premises through the scenic area.

It was only a quick stay but will have to go back for a long weekend. Love the room, the grounds were beautiful, and everyone was very helpful/welcoming.

Family vacation in Feb.

Beautiful grounds and plenty to do even on the weekdays in Feb when there are very few planned events. Tennis, frisbee golf, visit horse, long horns, mini horses donkeys, and alpacas, the pool with lazy river and slide and hot tub, bikes, pool table and game room with checkers and such, these are all available FREE! The pub restaurant on the first floor is expensive and nothing special, after an expensive meal we ate out! The rooms are large and staff is pleasant. Have fun!

Fire Wheel Food Service

The stay was good. I called in advance for crib to be placed in our room, but there was no crib and I had to ask for it again and wait for them to deliver to our room. The Safe Box was not working when we arrived, so I had to wait for them to reset the safe box also. The Fire Wheel Buffet for the PRICE had lack of varieties of quality none protein food selections from last year.

Nice resort but noisy

Cons: Stop permitting pets in rooms.
Location: Mountain biking in Bastrop State Park.
Nice, isolated resort in a beautiful setting, but the abundance of small and large barking dogs and unsupervised children make it a noisy place. We were wakened at 4:45 am with happy dogs barking next door.

We had such a great time. The attentive and friendly service stood out from the moment we were greeted at the door. There were so many interesting things to do. The spa was wonderful too.
