It has always been a dream of mine to stay in a real medieval chateau. We had an exceptional experience! Not only is the chateau absolutely beautiful, the staff and food was superb! They are all so friendly and accommodating. They go over and beyond and I would recommend a visit to everyone! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

Our stay at Château de Mercuès was fantastic. We stayed for one night and swam, dined, drank and slept wonderfully. The staff were helpful, friendly, knowledgable and discreet. I cannot speak highly enough of all of them. The pool area was build in the 60s and although maybe showing its age slightly, was charming, providing sunbeds and parasols The evening service at La Dueze (on-site michelin starred restaurant) was impeccable. The food and wine were some of the best I have ever had. The room was tidy, clean and comfortable and well equipped with tea-making, wi-fi and small minibar. The wine tour is a must. The cellars were immaculate and a testament to the care and dilligence of the staff thoughout. The hotel is one of a kind. A genuine castle on top of a hill with some of the most breathtaking views I have ever experienced.

Hotel disappointing - Restaurant exceptional
The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The decor was very old and tired and the air conditioning did not work - no matter what the wall machine said. The worst part was that there was no shower in the bathroom. Only a bath with a hand held (no not attached on high). The restaurant, on the other hand was exceptional

A truly amazing place! The view is spectacular, and the service and the food are extraordinary. It‘s very well maintained (which is very hard work for such a place - an old castle). It‘s worth a stay!

7 Nights overlooking the Lot
We had an evening meal from the Bistro menu (restaurant closed that day) and one from the main restaurant menu. Both times we felt the meals were disappointing. Portion sizes small esp for this part of France. The flavours were not up to Michelin star rating. My husbands steak was dry and overcooked and my lobster was miniscule and mushy, and that was after waiting an hour for the food to arrive. Better meals can be had in nearby villages at a fraction of the price, less touristy, and with true French flavour. We didn't bother with the breakfast at 29 euros each. Our room had a private balcony with a magnificent view, and the room was comfortable in the gentrified, decrepit chateau style.

Beautiful Château steeped in history - only negative was no air conditioning in main bedroom although we had a second bedroom which had an air conditioning unit which helped cool the suite. Food gorgeous and attentive service.

A most incredible property - a medieval castle/fortress on top of the hill overlooking the area. Beautifully restored with charmingly appointed rooms. Front desk staff good, however, restaurant staff was hopeless. It is a one Michelin star restaurant and the food is at a high level but the waiting staff is not up to scratch. They served us lukewarm white wine and it took them another hour to bring out the bottle of red and almost 2 hours to begin serving food. Just as bad was the wine tour which was conducted by a Young man half in English and half in French yet the he spent 90% of the time talking to the french crowd while we were forced to wait up to half an hour at a time for a 5 min speach. Have up in the end.

Château, winery and hotel in one
First a caution. Our GPS (and we were told most GPS devices) will not get you to the hotel. Once you get to the town of Mercuès, follow the hotel’s signs not your GPS. The hotel is a true chateau with a long and interesting history. The building and grounds are lovely as are the rooms. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant is starred and the food is extremely good. Prices at the restaurant are somewhat high but generally in line with other comparable restaurants. The chateau is also a winery. If you like wine, it is worth a visit.

We had a fascinating room in one of the turrets. We cooled down (it was over 30C) by the outdoor pool. We sampled wines from the Cave. We ate at the Michelin 1-star restaurant. We enjoyed the vintage Jaguars from the antique car club that also stayed at the hotel. The only suggestion to make is to install a shower curtain around the bath for those who prefer to shower rather than bathe.

A truly amazing place to stay
The chateau is stunning, great pool and ground. The staff are wonderful and helpful (the manager gave us a lift in to Cahors when the local taxis said they were too busy). The food in the restaurant was incredible - one of the best meals I have had. Overall, a phenomenal experience.

uniqe place
the place is very uniqe' its an old castel that has been renovated. the room is actually an old bedroom and a batroom in two separte floors. it is not convinent, the stairs are too narrow and quite not safe. my partener sent to the bathrom down the stairs and slipped over hurting her leg and knee. i think the hotel is very special and uniqe but the wa the rooms are seperated from the bathrooms is unsafe. my partner is lucky that she didnt hurt her leg more seriosly. also the breakfast is poor and expensive,

Our stay coincide with the grape harvest. We watched from the safety of the gardens above the cellars as huge amounts of red grapes were processed. All very modern...no purple feet here!!!

Wonderful hotel. No air conditioning though....
It was unusually hot in the beginning of September. Temperature outside was about 100 degrees, our room was amazing, but had no air conditioning. It was impossible to get any sleep. Only three rooms at Chateau de Mercues have air conditioning. Personnel stated that they will have more air conditioned rooms next year.

beautiful region, castle and hotel
all good except for 2 major things. 1/ The bathrooms do not have either a shower or a shower head holder above the bathtub. Hence it is impossible to take a shower without uncomfortably sitting in a bathtub and holding the showerhead above your head like in a "one star" hotel. This is totally unacceptable and extremely unpleasant 2/ The Wifi is terrible and maxes out at 1.5 MBS download so basically worthless for anything else than texting The access code varies by bedroom and is complicated enough to protect you from the NSA while requiring constant repeat of the needlessly complicated login procedure . All in all a huge waste of time for foreigners needing seamless WIFI for personal or professional use at an age where 2 star hotels in remote places of the globe have decent WIFI access and speeds

Fairytale Castle Awesome!
This castle is extraordinary. I stayed twice in a short span, classic room both times. First room was gorgeous, second room needed updating of carpet, etc. the food was definitely a 5, across the board and the wine offerings were great as well as reasonably priced. Grounds were gorgeous and it's in the center of a very interesting area to visit.

Fantastic hotel, great location, incredible food
One of the best hotels we have stayed in in France. Perfect for a romantic break, with lovely rooms, fantastic views and delicious dinners set in a beautiful courtyard. Well placed for trips to local Cahors vineyards and for the town itself, which is charming. Both waiting and front-of-house staff were attentive and engaging and the sommelier suggested great wines at reasonable prices. Definitely deserving of its Relais & Chateau status and well worth a route deviation to enjoy.

Memorable Experience
It's a trip that me and my wife have planned for a long time after our 3 year was born. It was an immediate choice to stay in the castle as soon as we saw the property. The service is no doubt a five star plus quality from the entry, dining and the winery visit. The property is a bit old but of course, it's an castle since 13th century (I recalled) so what do you expect? The room is full atmosphere of a castle should be with quacking sounded wooden floor but everything else if pretty new....well, fairly new. However, the view is fantastic. It's definitely something worst of remembering. The service in the restaurant is superp however the quality of the food was so so not the greatest but okay. When visiting, you gotta visit their cellar. It's compact but the guide gaves you lots of details and knowledges of the entire process. During the tasting, you can tell if they really care you and the wine. Is that they will washed off your glass with wine (some third cru class we went in Bordeaux will just pour straight into your empty class when switching wines). For my personal preference, I highly recommand their white. There are three kinds, try them all and you'll appreciate it!

WOW
Excellent, Excellent and from were to start. Once we arrived at the hotel we've been greeted by the luggage porter. The checking took about 10 min, but good 10 min: the hotel receptionist had made a tour and showed us around and our room. In the room a good touch of customer service from the hotel management and chef. The room was huge and the bed( i think 4 people could sleep in it) Very clean. Beautiful view and good swimming pool. The restaurant is A LA CARTE, never felt so good looked after in any hotels that i have stayed in.This was the best Hotel ever.
