Close to the Santuary

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Cons: The utensil needs to be improved; a couple of English channel would be good; stronger wifi.
Location: It is easy to find and is close to the sanctuary, shops and restaurants - able to get everything that we need - including stamps for mailing postcard.
I and my mum enjoyed my stay at Hotel-Residence St Jean. The room is clean and has a veranda, TV, microwave, cooking stove, fridge, spacious bathroom, etc. However, I find the room is very small, the wifi is very weak in the room (got to come down to the lobby to do my online airline check-in) and the utensil is a bit limited - but still can make do. In front of the hotel is a city bus route that you have get on for a ride. Excellent location!

Good practical accomodation

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Really helpful and friendly staff
Location: Lourdes is a strange mixture of extreme tourism with religion, but is next to the mighty Pyrenees
Went to ride l'Etape du tour from Pau to Hautacam and found this accomodation for the trip. When my van broke down the staff were helpful in extending the booking at short notice. Really nice people.

Good self-catering accommodation in Lourdes.

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Cons: The décor in the rooms was tasteful, but could be improved for a more luxurious touch. A kettle, washing up liquid and sponge could be provided.
This apartment complex is an excellent choice for those who wish to self-cater in Lourdes. Rooms are simple but spacious and very clean, with daily servicing. Rooms contain a small kitchenette (microwave, 2 hobs, sink and fridge) and a crockery/ cutlery set can be rented for a deposit of 20 Euro. I have specific dietary needs - the choice is very limited in French restaurants for me - so the kitchenette was perfect. There is a limited supermarket next door - best to go to the large MonoPrix supermarket in the new area of town (5-10 mins. walk). Fadil, the manager, was very welcoming and accommodating. I had a room with a view of the river and surrounding hills which was very pleasant. The accommodation is directly on a corner of the bridge and main street to the Grotto, so there is always a hub of people walking up and down - great for people watch. Some traffic, but nothing too intrusive. Completely quiet at night. The location is excellent - 5-10 minute walk to the Sanctuary area (Grotto and Basilicas). As a single, female traveller, I felt very safe at this hotel and in this area of town. There is a boulangerie opposite with lovely fresh bread and croissants for breakfast and plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby if you prefer to eat out. Breakfast is available in the hotel for 9 Euro, although I didn't try this. A good choice and I look forward to staying here again. A sincere thank you to Fadil and his staff.

Small hotel about 10 minutes walk to the grotto.

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: This hotel is close to the grotto.
Cons: Hotel management could take a second look at their laundry service to where guests can use it at their convenience.More space between sofa bed & table
Location: Location is about 10 minutes walk to the grotto and a lot of shops and restaurants all around.
We arrived at our hotel around 9 pm and the front desk was kind enough to have waited for us since they close at 8:30 pm. The main bedroom was alright but the space in the living room were the sofa bed was and 2 in our group were going to use as their sleeping quarters was tight. You have to sit on the sofa bed while eating at the dining table. On our second night our bathroom facilities stopped working so we informed the male front desk and since it was late already he would have to call the plumber the following day. The next day we reminded the female front desk and when we returned after the day's acitivities she was nice enough to give us the key to the room next to ours so we could use its facilities while ours was not fixed yet. However, there was no need since by afternoon our own was working again. The reception is not open 24 hours. They close around lunchtime and at 8:30 pm. With that being said, it was an inconvenience when we needed to use the laundry service since when they leave they have to turn off and close everything. The good thing about this experience are the 2 male and female front desk personnel who were patient and kind in their willingness to assist us.

Well-priced accommodation near the grotto

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: The service, the amenities, and the cleanliness.
Cons: Cannot think of any at this time.
Location: Close to grotto but also walking distance to city center.
Manager made prior arrangements for me to check-in even though my train from Paris arrived late. He made sure I got in and everything was okay. The hotel is comparatively cheap but clean with a refrigerator, microwave, and sink in the room. There are also a number of restaurants one can easily walk to if one is not inclined to eat in one's room. Overall, I will stay here again.

Good location but not worth the money

Posted Jan 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
Good location, but definitely not worth the money. Service was not good - was difficult to find anyone at the desk to check in or out and amenities were basic. Not value for money - can get a much better hotel for the price paid.
