“Thanksgiving Night Renewal”

We have friends in Loves Park who have us each Thanksgiving and we stay overnight to go shopping on Black Friday. What a welcome surprise the Quality Inn and Suite in Loves Park was. We had our 2 grown children with us and they gave us a Queen and King bed. Lots of pillows. Large room. And a nice free breakfast with freshly "make your own" waffles. The kids were out shopping at 4:00 a.m., so ma and me enjoyed a quiet breakfast. The kids found many bargains so we joined them and found our own. The shoppers are so friendly and everyone is smiling and in a good mood. We look forward to returning next year.

Area recommendations
This motel is right off I -90 north of Rockford, Il. The area has many things to offer such as shopping, dining and hiking in a great forest preserve. In the summer there is a great mini golf complex for the kids up the road. I spend time in the Farm and Fleet next door to the motel. The wife stocks up on the bargains at Woodman Grocery Store. Rockford is a little Chicago with no traffic jams. A great shopping center on the south side called Cherryvale. An assortment of chain restaurants from hamburgers to steaks. A small town feel with big city activities.
Traveler's tip
Save some time for a ride about 10 mile east of town to explore Edward's Orchard. Fall is the best time with the apples in season. The hot cinnamon donuts are the best. Downstairs is a little restaurant for a great lunch.

“traveler”

Our one problem was a smoking issue. We requested a non-smoking room, and we were indeed on a non-smoking floor. The problem was that the corridors reeked with cigarette smoke which came into our room. Signs were up everywhere forbidding smoking, but to no avail. Yuch.
