A reasonable choice but not 5 starPosted Feb 19, 2013
This hotel is a reasonable choice but it is not as claimed a 5 star hotel by any measure. The hotel is architecturally interesting. Upkeep is a bit off. Staff is pleasant. There are many hotels of varying quality in Luang Prabang. I think you could find a place of equal quality closer to the center of town.

A meditative place, from another timePosted Dec 5, 2012
Wonderful, authentic boutique colonial style hotel befitting its special city of LP. Rooms and overall finished in great detail to very high standard, service to match. A quiet area, but convienent to all, enjoyed biking aound. We visited other more expensive hotels around during our stay, none matched. Room 321 and our friends in 422 were perfect. Single beds we initially tried in another room a bit to firm for us. Look forward to a return, and Guest Relations Ms. Mem special.

Satri House, Luang PrabangPosted Feb 7, 2012
Pros: The tasteful decoration, the helpful staff, the excellent food, the tranquillity of the gardens, the mosquito nets, the open fire in the library
Cons: None, but be prepared to be woken by neighbouring early morning roosters!
Location: An easy walk to the town centre, even quicker by bike, passing local shops, cafes and petanque players
This is a beautiful hotel that feels like a country house. The rooms are spacious with lovely local furnishings and antiques, and there are several sitting rooms, one with an open fire. The gardens are lush and green; there are two pools and various attractive and secluded areas where one can be served snacks, drinks or meals. The staff are friendly and smiley and the breakfasts superb. An added bonus is the availability of bicycles free of charge as cycling is a great way to get around Luang Prabang.

Sheer delightPosted Jan 11, 2012
Pros: The lotus pond
Cons: The mosquitos
Location: Well placed, just outside the main centre but very quiet
Delightful hotel, well located with the friendliest of staff. It is well worth the effort of getting to Luang Prabang just to stay here. The hotel buildings are beautifully furnished and the breakfast is one of the best we've had at any hotel in the world.
