Nice overall hotel
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: Great location, beautiful interior, efficient staff, super big clean rooms.
Cons: The hotel room floors need a serious shampooing! Pool was not appealingly clean.
Pros: Very efficient, great complimentary breakfast and other niceties. Nice interior. Rooms super clean (except the floor) and spacious. Cons: Floors in rooms are dirty and you don't want to go barefoot. This is true of most hotel rooms though. Pool was cloudy and over-chlorinated, I didn't want to swim in it.

Noisy, stained sheet, cheetos in the sofa bed.
Posted Jan 6, 2013
Noisy bar and "courtyard" outside our door. Glass doors and side panels with sheer curtains made us feel like we could be seen through them. Clydesdales tap dancing above us. Stain on the bedsheet. Food crumbs on the sleeper sofa. Redemption came when the gal at the desk offered snacks, drinks for the road and apologized (genuinely) for our bad night.

Overall good, but fell a bit short of "great"
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: Loved the interior decor, the courtyard feel, and the room size.
Cons: Restaurant service. The breakfast service was great, but not the evening restaurant.
Location: Short on parking, but not too difficult to manage.
The front desk and breakfast staff were great. Loved the grotto feel of the restaurant and breakfast areas. Pool was a decent size, and not too cold. Biggest complaint was that the night we were there we waited in the restaurant 20 minutes before giving up and going out to eat. No one came to our table, even to see if we wanted anything or to say that they were running behind and would be by shortly. Disappointing. Room itself was great. I love the suite layout, except wish the sink was in the bathroom itself. Could have used more towels to start (after looking everywhere, I found three) and the upstairs plumbing made knocking noises in the ceiling.

Mostly nice, except for the maids' pep rally
Posted Jan 6, 2013
Pros: Breakfast buffet, suite layout, comfy beds
Cons: Noise.
Location: Convenient location off the loop.
When we first checked in, we were excited that our room was back in a hallway a bit, thinking that meant it might be quieter than others. We didn't hear any other guests or the noise from the breakfast buffet, but we were bombarded with what I can only describe as a pep rally for the cleaning team. It started at 8:30 or 9:30, I assume, depending on if it was a weekend day or week day and lasted for nearly 30 minutes. Apparently, our room was directly above the laundry and maids' supply room and the air vents brought the noise to our room as if we were participating. The front desk was very nice about our complaint and the cheering stopped within a minute after we called. Being directly above the laundry also had the additional annoyance of our beds shaking a bit when the washing machines hit the spin cycle. It reminded me of those "magic fingers" beds from back in the day where you could put a quarter in a box by the bed and it would vibrate. Aside from the pep rally issue and the vibrating beds, we had a very nice stay. The breakfast buffet is a nice addition and the hotel is much nicer than before Embassy Suites bought and remodeled it. This is where I always stay when I go to visit family in Lubbock and I'll continue to stay there - I'll just be sure to ask for a room that isn't directly above the laundry.

The hotel and surroundings were on par for what you would expect for a good busines hotel. What puts this hotel over the mark is their exemplary customer service.
