In heart of the old city. Terrific Staff & Hotel.

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: Staff, Family feeling (but professional), location and breakfast bar.
Location: In the heart of the old city -- everything is available in short walk.
From the moment we pulled up in front the welcome was warm, high service and family run. Hotel has charm of old Italy and conveniences of today (internet/wifi, TV, in room phone). Staff always available (24/x7) and super helpful.

Excellent Hotel

Posted Jan 27, 2015
We arrived 2 hours early but our room was ready and were taken straight up. The room itself was gorgeous, really authentic and old looking but spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and the mini bar was stocked with treats at a very reasonable price. The hotel is inside the walls and is right in the heart of the town. All the restaurants were only 5-10 mins walk away with some really nice Cafe/Bars around too. We took a train to Florence on 1 day and the train was only 14 Euro's and it took 1 hr 20 mins to get there. The bus to and from the Airport is only 3 Euro's each way and the hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the bus station of Lucca. We made the mistake of getting a cab from the airport to the hotel when we arrived and it cost us 75 Euro which is incredibly expensive being only a 15 minute journey. We really enjoyed our stay and the owners of the hotel speak English and are extremely helpful with recommendations etc.. I'm gluten Free and told them before hand in case it was a problem but was presented with a huge basket of gluten free treats and bread for breakfast. The restaurants are also really accommodating for Gluten Free, they completely understand and have lots to eat. We will be coming back to Lucca in the summer as we loved it so much. :-)

The Best! Ultimo! Grazie molto Signore Mario!!

Posted Jan 11, 2015
Pros: Everything. Staff, rooms, food, advice on dinning......
Cons: Add hours to the days spent at this hotel.
Location: Near great trattorias.Near the wall which I walked before dinner every night. The town is small enough to see all the wonderful sights on foot.
We stayed in Lucca for the first time after a visit years ago where we walked the outer wall. It was love at first sight. We decided to add Lucca to our list f Italian cities where we have spent time to learn the nature of the culture. We selected this hotel based upon a special deal they were running on Expedia. This is not a modern chic hotel. Rather a warm cozy friendly and charming abode. The staff, Mario, Gabrielle and Allesandro go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay, The rooms are large and rustic. The bathrooms are modernized and clean, The breakfast fantastic, I never had to ask Mario for double shots in my cappuccino! He always remembered. I'm not acake person, but every morning there were two typical local cakes hot out of the oven. I do love prosciutto with cheese and eggs for breakfast and there was all I could want every morning. The cornetti were wonderful and so were the fresh foccia slices. Last year were loved Lucca and this hotel so much that we cancelled two days in Rome and added two more nights in Lucca. This year we stayed for four nights. Again a sheer delight. It was hard to say goodbye. An ace of a place. Looking forward to another stay over the holidays next winter.

A real gem

Posted Dec 23, 2014
Pros: Staff, atmosphere, comfort, location, etc.
Cons: Nothing in particular. They do a really nice job for their style of cosy but modern boutique hotel.
Location: It is right in the old part of Lucca, where the main sights can easily be reached on foot. Lucca is stunning and well worth a few days break.
The well located hotel proved a perfect base for enjoying Lucca and made the entire trip extra special. It combined the atmosphere of an old palazzo with all the desired comforts and then some. The room was large and comfortable with a flat screen TV and free wifi. The heating was excellent and could be set for cool or toasty warm. The bed was large and comfortable. The breakfast selection was varied, with made to order eggs and cappuccino. The staff really is outstanding, warm, helpful and knowledgeable without being at all intrusive. I asked for tea in my room every night and it was provided immediately and without any fuss whenever I asked for it, without charge. I bought some local cake and the staff sliced it for my tea, then kept it in the kitchen for the next day. Restaurant suggestions were excellent as well as touring information. I felt completely at home and relaxed knowing that anything I needed would be taken care of expertly and smoothly. All in all, the balance between the feeling of being a welcome guest in someone's home and the convenience of a hotel was right on the mark and made for a special experience.

Elegant hotel in the ancient city of Lucca

Posted Dec 19, 2014
Pros: The large room (a suite) and the friendly staff. Beautiful, ornate, in-keeping with the ancient city, decor.
Cons: The toilet seat moved and needed fixing and there was a small leak in the corner of the bathroom too.
Location: The restaurant 'Puccini' was really good. The marinated steak (in olive oil and rosemary) was the best we had ever tasted.
We had a fabulous stay at this hotel. The hotel is owned by a really friendly family who cannot do enough to help and advise on restaurants etc... It was the perfect hotel for a short break in this beautiful old city, close to many shops and restaurants.

un palais pour notre romance

Posted Nov 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
