Great Location - Good Choice

Posted Sep 8, 2014
An enjoyable 2 night stay in the lovely city of Lucca, at the Palazzo Alexander. Good location within the walls of the old city, a nice flat stroll to the main sights and restaurants. The hotel has a lot of charm, nicely restored and decorated. Service was excellent, friendly, efficient and helpful. The buffet breakfast is very good, excellent quality meats, cheeses and pastries along with great coffee. Wi-Fi worked well, very fast and good coverage. Good place to stay

Old Worlde charm in a very good location

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Location, room (triple) , friendly service
Cons: Tea making facility in the room
Location: General sightseeing inside the wall, good restaurants, shopping
Very comfortable 4night stay. Mario and Son could not have been more helpful. A mixup with our booking when we arrived was handled well, and corrected as soon as it could be.

It doesn't get better than this

Pros: I loved the helpful staff and the wonderful food for breakfast including two tortes every day, croissants, eggs bacon toast coffee.
Cons: There is nothing I can think of........
Location: Location is central to many of Luccas sites. The whole inner city within the walls can be reached by walking in 20 minutes.
We stayed at this hotel for 9 days August 2014. The staff was exceptional and we really got to know the three main workers for the hotel who are Mario, Alexander and Gabrielle. They are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are a mix of traditional decor and yet functional and comfortable. It is very clean and well taken care of. The rooms are spacious and the air conditioning works well

Excellent hotel and location!!

Pros: Beautiful d├ęcor with a real Medieval feel. Friendly staff; excellent location.
Location: Right inside the walled city of Luca. This allowed us to walk easily anywhere we went.
We loved staying here! An excellent experience to stay inside the walled city of Luca. A gorgeous room, and a hotel. Great attention to cleanliness. And a gorgeous parlour where we had breakfast each morning.

Silver wedding trip

Pros: Beautifully restored. Ideal location for a celebration. Just what we were looking for in an Italian city break.
Cons: Tea / coffee in room would be good, as would a shower curtain !
Location: Circuit of the City Walls, climb the Guingini Tower for the best view in town, visit the cathedral, eat lots of ice cream, wander around for hours.
Beautiful hotel in a fabulous city. Attentive staff, nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Very atmospheric location with everything in close reach. Easy place to spend hours just wandering around. We were recommended Rama restaurant by the hotel staff - fantastic if you like seafood.

Messed up booking, had to shuffle between hotels

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: More trustworthy staff
I was told on arrival that my booking had been incorrectly recorded, that I would have to spend the first night of two in a another hotel, and would then have to return to the Palazzo Alexander (i.e. no chance of staying at the other hotel for two nights - it was much better). I had to pack up my belongings after one night in order for them to be moved back - a real pain. I didn't trust the hotel manager's explanations; I suspect that as a single traveller my reservation was changed to suit his other bookings. Breakfast was poor: e.g. the "fresh orange juice" was so diluted the orange was difficult to taste.

wonderful advice and service from owner and family

Posted Jun 3, 2014
This hotel is very comfortable, situated in heart of Lucca and with very considerate owner (fluent in several languages) and his family. All queries were answered and hotel facilities placed at my disposal - printing boarding passes, organising taxis, avoiding train / bus strikes etc. Can heartily recommend.

Wonderful Hotel, wonderful staff!

Hotel was beautiful, sort of baroque, a tinge faded, which made it more comfortable. Staff was amazingly charming & helpful, very accommodating. Lucca is a fascinating town & the Palazzo Alexander is the perfect place to stay to feel the flavor of the city.
