Perfect stayPosted Oct 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
We decided to stay in this hotel while visiting Lucca because it's only 15 minutes away from the city but in a typical quite and beautiful Tuscan country side. And it was the right choice. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice. When he first showed our room to my husband, he must have seen the disappointment in his face (because the room was smaller then we thought), he switched it to a much bigger one without even we mentioned anything about it. The room was clean, nicely and simply decorated. And the breakfast was more then we expected. We will definitely stay there again.

Old but Still Needs WorkPosted Oct 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
We arrived at night and it is a miracle we found this location. Hotel did not appear on my gps, so the first I did when we arrived was put it as a saved location. Room was very small and the beds seemed like army cots. One night it rained very heavy and the ceiling in the bathroom leaked. Since the staff leaves at 10 every night, no one was available to call. The staff is nice and helpful.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Lucca, this isn't the place. If you are looking for a place to stay near Lucca, this it the bomb. Great value. Accommodating staff. Comfortable and clean. I would go back.

We loved this hotel - might be hard to find without a car, otherwise fantastic location, opened our window to sun streaming in & stunning view of Tuscan vineyards - very close to medieval walled village of Lucca & not to far from Pisa. Lovely service, good breakfast, good coffee always a big plus!

Cons: Noise, uncomfortable mattress
Location: Too far from the city
Hard to locate. Mattress very uncomfortable. No sound proofing, could hear plumbing, conversations etc. Staff unwilling to address issue, prepaid, no reimbursement.

A retreat close to Italian villagesPosted Sep 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
A car is a must, but for a few bargain days in the Italian hills, this is a nice choice. Breakfast and service are both somewhat uninspired, but the historic location in the hills is nice compensation.

Away from Crowds But Air Conditioning Doesn't WorkPosted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: The croissants are wonderful
Cons: Needs better beds and air conditioning.
Location: Not really near anything but close enough to drive to a good restaurant.
The hotel was away from all the August crowds we have been experiencing but the air conditioning didn't work. When we asked the hotel they said it was working. With temperatures at 33 degrees C/102 F it was extremely uncomfortable. When we opened the windows at night to let the breeze in we were bit by mosquitoes.

Hotel with character!Posted Aug 11, 2013
A lovely location off the beaten track, a wonderful building with lots of character & history. The old building does mean old drains, & one of our rooms had a odour problem, the maid did try to help remedy this, but its a difficult problem to deal with in the heat of the summer. Outside seating areas were limited, the car park doubled as both not very restful but it had a great view of Lucca & the countryside. Alternate sitting areas would be nice, somewhere to sit & relax if you wanted to chill for a bit before or after sightseeing. Situated not far from Lucca & some great eating establishments close by.

Rooms are minuscule and don´t go in the sunmer since A/C does not work...I experienced one night with a peak of almost 100F with no A/C...like an oven.Breakfast is very basic with liitle choice and warm bottled water (in the summer).

A peaceful and pleasant havenPosted Jul 16, 2013
Pros: Staff, surroundings and ambience
Location: Fantastic! So close to so many things, but hidden away from hustle and bustle
We had a fabulous experience. Staff so helpful, diligent and friendly. Hilde especially was fantastic. The surroundings were lovely, all very well maintained and a great base from which to make day trips. Thoroughly recommend, we're sorry to leave!
