One of the worst hotels for sleeping comfort

Posted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: Nice view of mountains.
Cons: The beds are absolutely terrible! If I could have, I would have left after the first night and found another hotel.
Quick and friendly check-in. The rooms were clean. Beds were about the hardest I have ever slept on. The breakfast was well stocked. Check out was quick but not friendly.

Great location, run-down hotel.

Staff was nice, but if you're used to staying in nicer hotels, this one ain't for you. It was just myself and my husband, but I would have gone somewhere else if our kids were with us. Our room was grungy, bathroom tile was cracked, and pink mildew was on shower head and corners of walls. Carpeting and comforter was were old and musty and I didn't feel comfortable walking bare foot. Bed was comfortable but we removed the comforter before sleeping in it. Access to rooms are from the outside and it's not very well lit at night.

Needs a facelift.

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: One thing...the mattress was actually very comfortable.
Cons: Everything, except the mattresses...The entire property is shabby and kinda creepy.
Location: Luray was quaint, but other than caverns and the Mimslyn, not much else. We were bored by the 2nd day.
Not sure exactly where the hotel was located we booked it with our fingers crossed. The location was good, next to the roadway we planned to travel while in Luray. We were greeted by a very nice young lady who registered us, however, she answered the phone while doing so and instead of asking them to hold, she continued to register them before us, wasn't too happy with that. The hotel overall when you pulled up was worn, and even a little sketchy. We chose the 1st floor wanting to stay close to our car. The door to our room even needed a good cleaning and painting. Inside, fortunately the bed was clean, but the place was again, just worn and needed a good scrubbing and updating. There were cracks where the ceiling and wall met, and cracked plaster on the ceiling. The bathroom tiles seriously needed some bleach and a scrub brush. For what we paid in Luray we could've had a much nicer and cleaner place at our final destination, Williamsburg. Some top notch hotels are only a few dollars more and soooo much nicer, and cleaner. Sorry Days Inn Luray, won't ever be back.

When I arrived the exterminator was treating the rooms. My refrigerator did not work and when I brought this to the attention of the hotel clerk, I was told it would be looked into. When I checked out, the refrigerator was still broken.

Beautiful setting but lacking

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Staff
Cons: Upgrade rooms with more attention to room cleaning. Provide a little better breakfast.
Location: Location was perfect. Right on the main road but set back just enough.
When I came into the main lobby I was met by a professional and polite staff. Lobby appeared clean and presentable. But, when I entered the room EVERYTHING needed to be updated. Bathroom had 1970's floor and wall tile and cracks in the tile. Furniture and carpet old. TV was alright but an older model. Didn't even want to sit on the cloth chair. Looked surface clean but the corners, vents and behind things were dirty. Continental breakfast was lacking. Not happy but OK.

Easy drive from Days Inn to Shenandoah National Park. Accommodation and breakfast all fine.
