Not worth it

Posted Sep 7, 2014
The hotel was dirty. We found a spider in the sheets. Breakfast was only toast and cereal. Don't waste your money or a good nights sleep.

Would not recommend it. the pool was dirty and no additional towels were provided for the pool anyway. We decided it was safer not to swim in it

Great Battlefield location/great Valley view!!

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable, nice pool.. EXCELLENT view of the Shenandoah Valley and the mountains!
Cons: Front desk staff left much to be desired Breakfast was not good...
Location: Southern Kitchen restaurant in town is a MUST! Virginia Museum of the Civil War (formerly VMI Hall of Valor) - definitely walk the field!
Stayed here while visiting the New Market Battlefield and the town proper. Hotel is right on the southern portion of the battlefield and next to a museum that is NOT associated with the Virginia Museum (Hall of Valor). Don't waste your time at the museum next door....Visit the VMI Virginia Museum of the Civil War instead. Hotel was clean, nice small pool. The breakfast left much to be desired and the front desk clerk who checked me in was not very friendly...seemed annoyed to be working. Great location near the small town with a

It was okay...

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: The location. Ample parking.
Cons: The beds and pillows. Continental breakfast.
The title sums it up. The room was okay. It wasn't a five star hotel, but both my wife and I have stayed in much worse. We stayed overnight with my mother-in-law for the Route 11 yard crawl. The staff was courteous and check-in/check-out was a breeze. Once we got up to the room, it was no-frills. We got two double beds. The sheets and pillows were clean. The bathroom and vanity were clean as well. The only negatives regarding the room amenities involved the lack of a mini-fridge and the older CRT television. The worst part about the room came that night when everyone was trying to get to sleep. The beds were quite firm and the pillows lacked any sort of density. Even with two pillows each, we each felt like we really only had one pillow. Between the lack of neck support and the stiffness of the beds, it led to a restless night for everyone. Upon getting up the next morning, we decided to grab a bite at to eat at the continental breakfast. This runs from 6-9 and we arrived around 8:15-8:30. We found that breakfast consisted of apple or orange juice, yogurt, milk, bread and waffles (which could be toasted), two types of cereal, and coffee or hot chocolate. Nothing spectacular, but we decided to swing by the McDonald's up the road to grab something to eat there before heading out for the day. Again, it was just okay. I probably could have ignored the other issues had I gotten a good nights rest.

Good value for the money

The room was clean and comfortable although the mattress was very firm. The pool was very nice and we had a beautiful view of the mountains. Breakfast was adequate but not outstanding. Overall a good value for the money.

Nice hotel, great pricex

Posted Jul 21, 2014
We received a special deal on this hotel, so we were not expecting anything great. We were pleasantly surprised! The room was clean, the bathroom clean - no mold or other yuckiness. They had a breakfast buffet that satisfied my husband and boys while I slept in. The pool came with towels provided. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was close to Luray, making it the right place at the right price...we would definitely use them again!

Poor customer service

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: Price and distance to the soccer complex.
Cons: Customer service, most definitely. More attention to upkeep of the hotel.
Location: Close to soccer complex, Luray and Shenandoah Park.
We were in town for a soccer tournament and arrived at the inn (9:30 am) after the first game in hopes of being able to check in early. My daughter was exhausted after a long car ride and tough early morning game. There were 5 vehicles in the lot.The desk clerk told us that we would be able to check in at noon. Great! We then went out and got some breakfast and arrived back at noon. The clerk then told us that we would have to check in at three. I pointed out that she told us to come back at noon. She said that the rooms were still being cleaned and that the manager was adamant that no one could check in early. I said, "Surely you have rooms available - there are only 5 cars in the lot!" She apologized and reiterated that the manager was firm about not checking in early. I asked to speak to the manager and she said he wasn't there. I then asked, "What kind of manager isn't present at his property?" She changed her story to say that he was cleaning rooms in the back and was unavailable. I would have understood if we were initially told to come back at 3, but don't lie and then compound the lie by heaping more lies on top of it. Very disappointed in the customer service. Inn quality was as expected for the price point - spartan but adequate. Front door latch was broken, the bathroom door would not latch and the tub drain plug was defective (no soothing bath). Pool was ok, breakfast offerings of premade waffles, corn flakes, toast, yogurt, instant oatmeal, apples.
