The Skyland Stables offer one-hour guided rides daily. The trail takes you through a wooded area along the Limberlost Trail, past an old apple orchard. From Memorial Day through Labor Day a 2.5 hour Whiteoak Canyon ride takes you to the first falls of the canyon. This ride departs daily at 8:45am and 1:00pm. Departure times subject to change.
You must be 4’6” tall to ride and weigh less than 250 lbs. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Pony rides are available for children and are a first-come-first-serve basis.
Explore and Explore guided hikes and rock climb/rappelling programs are scheduled weekly. Lead by the Shenandoah Mountain guides, you may trek to a mountain summit, waterfall or a backcountry area known for its historical significance. Rock climbing/rappelling takes place from Little Stony Man and all gear is provided.
Weekly wine tastings, monthly events such as Blackberry Celebration, Backyard Barbecue & S’mores and the popular Apple Butter Celebration are just a few of the fun things you can enjoy.
Hiking in Shenandoah is one of the most popular activities of Park visitors. The Stony Man trail which is adjacent to Skyland takes to you a mountain peak with vistas of the Shenandoah Valley to the west.Dark Hollow Falls at mile 50.7 is a 1.6 RT hike with some steep sections. This trail takes you to a 70 foot waterfall.
Shenandoah Seasonings Vintner Dinners include an elegant four-course dinner highlighted with wine pairings from a featured Virginia Winery. The Vintner will provide insight for the selected pairings. The dinners are available for booking April 13, May 18, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14 and November 9 at Skyland Resort.
Cooking Demos feature the chef as he prepares one of his favorite items at Skyland Resort. Guests can pamper their palette indoors when the trails outside are too wet for their taste.
