Lovely renovated hotel. Very luxurious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately the gym was still under renovation. The bar/cafe is worth a visit. Breakfast is nice (but mornings are cold, so bring a sweater because it’s outside!).

The property is aging. There was no air conditioning in any of the lobby or downstairs area of the hotel. The entire hotel could use some paint and sprucing up. It is no longer among the elite Lusaka hotels and therefore, overpriced. We will be using the Taj Pamodzi for Lusaka trips.

The hotel rooms were filthy! Carpets were stained! Toilet flush was broken! Had to change 3 rooms to find a bed to sleep! High cost for poor value!

I didn’t like anything at intercontinental hotel I was so disappointed. The corridor smells bad, the carpet is dirty you can see it. The bathtub was very dirty you can see it wasn’t cleaned properly, the white bath mat had black stains. I had to wear my flip flops to have a shower. Breakfast meals where terrible and the gym equipments needs replacement, treadmills belts are worn out they need change. Intercontinental hotel is just brand not quality. It’s expensive from nothing just brand. Don’t book there, don’t book for brand book for quality.

Central location
Hotel needs a face lift because most things are out dated inside. The staff is ok but could use more training in terms of being attentive to guests. Going up to the room, immediately you enter you are greeted by a foul smell which I later concluded that was from the fact that shower extractor fans don't work. Shower heads were throwing water in all directions and for a tall person like myself it was a nightmare. I honestly feel like bathrooms should be redone with new fans. I suggest doing walk in showers and removing old tubs. On one of the nights I stayed there we got notice that water was getting shut off in the middle of the night for maintenance. The place has potential to be the most amazing anyone would love to stay but lack proper managent and people with new age vision.

A Great Stay - A Last Minute Boo Boo
A few minutes to my check out, I noticed something: my Beats headphones were missing. I thought I had just seen them; thought I had used them while I was at the hotel. And then, they were missing. The Manager came to help me look for them, nothing. They were gone. And that, unfortunately, ruined a really good stay at the Intercontinental. The staff were just lovely; the food - nshima and beef - were delicious; sumptuous even. I enjoyed the nights; the bed was comfortable and the room was cozy. No complaints there. The hotel was also close to the office, so that helped me beat the Lusaka traffic. In the meantime, I am waiting to hear from the hotel and how they intend to review my headphone situation.

A nice place to stay in Lusaka.
Very nice food . we were picked from the airport even though we had not booked for airport transfer. The lady in charge of airport transfer (who was at the airport that time) is awesome. She welcomed us and made us feel very nice. The driver is super as he gave us an introduction about our Journey to the Hotel and he gave us some water. You have super staff . Bravo,,,

When I got there stuff where quite friendly and when I asked about late check out I was informed about 50dollas charge for a hour or if I am a member holder card I can check out at 14:00pm. I joined to be a member. The swimming pool was under renovation work so I brought it up with the assistance manager who she was quite helpful and apologize and offer other option for swimming. But I was checking out so she instead offered me points on my membership member card

Everything was as it usually except of the service at the pool and restaurant which was non existent. very frustrating and almost impossible to order and get the bill when finished, not good enough enough for a business class hotel

Just what we needed after adventurous 10 days in Zambia prior to flights home. Good hotel, good location. Bar service poor, waited forever for food but other than that a very enjoyable overnight stay.

A necessary safe & comfortable environment
Lusaka is a less-than-desirable place to be so it's nice to get away from that and stay somewhere that feels more like home in the west. It's a safe and comfortable hotel but quite clearly a little old and tired. You expect a lot from an InterContinental but you know you're not quite going to get the same standard in a place like Zambia, so we let them off where they were lacking, and we were fine with that. The most notable thing in this regard was that the staff were totally out of their depth. They were friendly and tried hard but simply didn't understand things that you would normally expect reception and restaurant staff to understand in a good hotel. No big deal, it just reminds you that you're in a backward country where standards in most things are low, including education. Probably wouldn't hurt to send committed staff to a busy city hotel in a western country just so they can see what their guests are used to.

Great potential not being realised.
Staff were very helpful and the food was great with a wide selection for both breakfast and evening meals. Lack of attention to detail was an issue for me. We did not have electricity in the room on the first night and one of the towels had evidently not been washed. Our booking included breakfast but staff were apparently unaware of this. Fortunately I had the voucher to enable me to prove this and get the charge removed from the bill. Would probably not recommend the hotel to anyone for accommodation but would be happy to return for a meal.

Wifi trouble
I stayed for 2 weeks and the wifi was consistently mal-functioning. An army of IT minions were running around puzzled and various staff provided a zillion stories like "we fixed the server now", "it should be working now", "the overdrive ZD switch has been re-configured for higher XT performance", "the IT team tell me it is OK", "the external provider did not deliver but it is fixed" etc etc etc. Every evening when coming back from work and meetings the same thing. I know Zambia is generally bad at IT, electricity, generators, and stuff like that, but I had expected a 5 star hotel to do better. Other than that all was OK. Good restaurant, friendly and effective waiters and staff, fine gym and pool and so forth.

The hotel is a nice corporate and has got a couple of good restaurants on the gorund floor (the Rosso Pomodoro is particularly good) both with fairly cheap Zambian prices. Not sure if Internet was a city wide problem whilst there (other hotels had the same issue) but it really made sending emails difficult. the reception said they will get IT to fix it but thought that could have been a bit better managed on a IC hotel

We went for the weekend with my parents. Took two rooms for two nights. Both rooms were seriously out dated and not well maintained or cleaned namely the carpet and the fridge. Breakfast on the first morning was good with a wide verity and awful on the second. The grounds are well kept and staff are friendly and welcoming.

Business trip to Lusaka and Hotel was recommended by a colleague. For the price that was charged I was disappointed by the facilities as both the air conditioning and fridge in the room did not work. In 30+ Deg C temperatures the room was unbearably hot. Overall Hotel is a bit dated and prices off food and drinks a little over the top for the average quality thereof.

Poor services with no care for customers.
We got married in Lusaka and needed a place to stay for two nights as we had our reception the next day - despite paying for the best room in the hotel - we got an average room with none of the things that I had sorted for my new wife in the room! Furthermore, we had no water in our room for both days - we were using bottled water for brushing our teeth - once again not what you want when you've just got married!
