Very nice, clean hotel. Very pleasant helpful stafPosted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Efficiency, cleanliness, safety, location
Cons: Nothing significant...
Location: Plaza and many restaurants nearby, Market on Sundays. I used the nearby Spar (food-store) to get fresh flowers and snacks.
It was my first time in Lusaka, and the reviews of this hotel were very good. They are very much deserved. This is a very good business hotel (and I met some businessmen who came several times a month from South-Africa, and always stayed at the Protea-Lusaka, as they considered it to be the best value in Lusaka). The hotel is very clean, and every precaution is taken to assure our safety and well-being. The staff is very efficient, and very friendly. The Wi-Fi was perfect - rapid and dependable, with very access through our cell phones and portable computers. The breakfast buffet is superb, and Chef Peter is there to prepare your omelet, pretty much any way you want it. Fruit is abundant, and several types of yogurt, breads and jams are offered. Service is efficient. I also had supper at the hotel, and the food was good and well-prepared. The hotel is contiguous to a plaza which offers many shops and restaurants. We have sampled several of these, and the food and ambiance were very good throughout. There is an upscale market on Sundays within the plaza, which is worthwhile. The Desk also arranged for transportation to the Protea Safari Lodge, about 1 hour away from the Lusaka Protea by taxi; I recommend it if you have the time (I did both the standard tour and Quad tour in the same day). I truly enjoyed my stay at the Protea-Lusaka, and there is no doubt that I will return there should I return to Lusaka.

Handy and pleasantPosted Apr 24, 2014
We (a family of 4) stayed here twice, both times with good service (although quite a lot of the menu wasn't available), helpful and friendly staff. Conveniently located for shopping, airport etc. Perhaps a bit expensive, but very nice, spacious family room with plenty of space for 4 people. We will be using Protea again!

OK but there are better hotels in Lusaka.Posted Dec 29, 2013
Pros: The airport transfer
Cons: The hotel is unattractive and in need of more colour and light.
Location: Did not experience as we were not there long enough, however we know the area and it is ideally situated for Lusaka.
We arrived after 11pm due to flight delays and were told that they had no room service. The room was ok but very noisy being near a nightclub? With less than 5 hours sleep we went down to breakfast which was fine and our transfer to the airport was on time.In general the hotel was ok however the rooms and common areas are fairly drab and in need of a bit of colour and light The staff were helpful and friendly at all times. We have stayed at a hotel 300m away in the last 2 months and it was cheaper and far more well appointed, if we had to choose it would not be the Arcades Protea.

Protea Arcades,, LusakaPosted Oct 2, 2013
While staying at the Protea I was admitted to hospital with malaria which I had contacted in Congo. I was travelling alone from Australia on business. The hotel staff provided an excellent service while I was in hospital bringing me my essential supplies from the hotel. They also picked me up from hospital on my release and checked on me in the room on the day I returned. The staff certainly went beyond their basic job description in order to provide a brilliant service.

Close to everything you needPosted Sep 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very good - full breakfasts are a bonus; hotel had surprisingly good food & wine; Arcades Mall has supermarket, banks, hair/nail salon, Sunday market, fast food, lots of restaurants, a few bars, taxis, and more. You can't beat the location, esp. if you are a business traveler and need amenities at hand.

No AtmospherePosted Sep 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
A clean and fairly comfortable hotel, but the bar and restaurant area was totally devoid of any atmosphere. Unsurprisingly, even though the hotel was almost fully booked, there were very few people using the hotel facilities. Much better to go into the next door Arcades.
