Butlins in LuxorPosted Mar 28, 2015
Pros: Friendly and welcoming staff. Large, well maintained grounds on the banks of the Nile.
Cons: Swimming pools, which are unappealing. The restaurants' ambience
Location: Loads of fantastic ancient sites nearby.
Let me start by saying that there is no problem for foreigners coming to Luxor. There are no issues or concerns about security. You are hundreds of miles from the areas where there have been problems. Right now, business is way down, and ordinary Egyptians are really suffering fom the lack of tourists. Yet the sites remian fantastic, and the few tourists make for good viewing. And the weather remains as good as ever. This hotel has a lot going for it: 1. Quiet location just outside Luxor 2. Beautiful well-maintained grounds 3. Fantastic staff who are delighted to have you staying and cannot do enough for you. 4. There are a range of activities laid on, and plenty of sports and other facilities. But there are some drawbacks: 1. The hotel is very large, with over 500 rooms. It seemed about a quarter occupied. I would not fancy being there when it was full. 2. Whilst the food quality is reasonable, the ambience in the restaurants ranges from bad to dire. The main restaurant is a big barn of a place, resembling a school canteen. 3. The comfort rooms appear to have little privacy and are cramped. They look like accommodation at a holiday camp. 4. None of the swimming pools are appealing. Two of them have childrens' pools and flumes, and neither had much in the way of loungers. The adults only pool was the best of a bad bunch. From what we could see, the vast majority of the custom was repeat business. The hotel claims to be 5* deluxe, but in our view it is more like 3*.

Beautiful location on the Nile, beautiful groundsPosted Mar 18, 2015
Spent four days at this lovely resort. Although it is a fair commute into Luxor, this secluded paradise became our refuge from the busyness of town.

Lovely, peaceful and relaxing placePosted Mar 10, 2015
This hotel is really a beautiful gem - the location is beautiful and peaceful - the grounds are stunning and well kept. We truly enjoyed the nature of the island, the birds and other animals that we saw - the peaceful views of the river, the beautiful trees and flowers and fresh smells of the basil and zaatar and other lovely plants growing on the grounds. The room we stayed in was very nice, clean and well kept. The pools are beautiful. Food was great, staff very friendly. There was a kids playground, and just all of the outdoor space is great for kids. For a weekend away from busy Cairo, this was a perfect getaway. It was extremely depressing to see how empty the hotel was during high season for this part of Egypt. I highly recommend anyone who wants to visit Egypt, enjoy the peaceful views of the Nile, see some historic sites and just relax in the warm sun - to not be deterred by the news! We had a lovely stay, and we really hope that we will return next winter to visit again.

Nice Hotel For PricePosted Feb 7, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, staff, location is beautiful.
Location: Right on the Nile
The hotel is very nice in relation to what many hotels in Egypt have to offer. I found the room very clean and overall a pleasant place to stay. The bed was a little stiff, but that is being nit picky. Additionally, the wifi was very weak. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at this place. The staff was really nice and the food was pretty good.

Paradise in the NilePosted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Serene parklike setting, dedicated waitstaff, restaurants, shuttle service from airport and into the city center.
Cons: More frequent shuttle runs to and from the city center.
Location: Located on an island in the Nile just outside of the center of Luxor Egypt. There are tours of ruins, donkey and camel rides, cruises on the Nile.
Maritim Jolie Ville Kings Island provided a serene, parklike setting surrounded by the Nile River. The waitstaff and reception desk staff were excellent. When we arrived after midnight, a driver was waiting for us at the airport. The next day they arranged a tour for us with a local guide who was excellent, Laila, along with a driver and car for less than $100/day. We felt extremely safe, were awestruck by the temples and tombs and have decided we will return for a longer stay. The economy in Egypt has been hurt because of safety concerns, but we felt completely safe at all times. We were asked to spread the word to family and friends that Luxor is a safe place to vacation. Prices are reasonable and we have not met a group of people who were so friendly and willing to help us with every request. The breakfast buffet was extensive and was included in the price of the room. There were multiple restaurants on the island to choose from along with room service. One morning a man with a camel was outside our room so I took a quick ride before breakfast. It was the trip of a lifetime for us and we will definitely return.
