needs improvement but price, location goodPosted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Location, price, breakfast, beds
Cons: Cleaning, management of rooms be ready on time! ,fly prevention by closing door while cleaning and not having big trash by a room.
Location: On 460 near Bedford. Roanoke 25 mins went to Roanoke Star on Mill Mountain. Peaks of Otter/Blue Ridge Pkwy, hiking overlooks, lodge, etc. D Day Mem
We arrived at 5, our room was not ready! Told a few mins, then given a different room, had to go back to check in, wasted 20 mins. Then our new room had at least 10 flies in it! We spent another 15 mins killing flies, not feeling like moving again. Source of flies was trash can outside our room, which management did immediately empty. Maid must have left door open while cleaning. The beds were comfortable, good pillows, large tv, frig, ancient micro but it worked. Sink area separate, a plus w/ 3 females! bathroom tiny, but good shower pressure. Fine for our height, but too short if you are over 5'6". It was old, but functional, just not particularly attractive. Cleaning needs to be improved, a very thorough in the corners, under the edges type obviously hadn't been done. Pool was small, but great temp, clean. A bit of a walk from the rooms. Hours weren't posted, but open til 10. Breakfast had hot oatmeal, juices, cereal, 3 types of toast, waffles. No fruit or eggs like sign said at check in. Had to get additional towels, but were given as many as we wanted when asked. Our room was quiet, never heard other guests. Ours was in building off the highway, might be noisy at front bldg. All employees were polite. It had easy access, near Bedford, not too far from Roanoke or Lynchberg. A 20 min. drive to Peaks of Otter/BlueRidge Pkwy area. We chose this hotel over another for the pool, not sure I would do it again. But it was fine for homebase for hiking trip.

First and last time to visit.Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: It was NOT a hotel, it was a motel. Horribly outdated, poor lighting, bad food and hot as hell!
Cons: Nothing was good in my opinion.
The room was well over 80 degrees when I arrived at 10:30PM and the outside lights were out so the security was not good. The lobby was very hot and the "deluxe" breakfast was terrible. The oatmeal (the little bit that there was) was cold. The toilet in the room (87) did flush IF you held down the handle and was very patient. I didn't realize that it was a motel or I may not have make the reservation at all.

Pros: Staff, breakfast, location
Cons: Nothing I can think of
Nice, clean , good breakfast. Evening clerk Carrie was outstanding, showed me where everything was. Terrific to be treated like that after along day. I would go back for sure.

Good location, bad smell.Posted May 15, 2015
Pros: Location - not far from the D-Day memorial.
Cons: Renovate, and improve the smell of the rooms.
Location: Close to the D-Day memorial and not far from a great restaurant that's in an old train station.
We booked 2 rooms. When we checked in, the rooms were no where near each other. Since our kids were to stay in one room, they managed to locate adjoining rooms for us. I don't know if we would've gotten better rooms if we had stuck w/what they were going to give us originally. Both rooms were supposedly smoke-free, but there was an ashtray in one of them & they both smelled strongly of smoke. A little dated and run-down too. Nice sized rooms, and comfy beds, but I didn't want to spend more time there than needed. Breakfast was typical, but ample.

OK for place to sleep.Posted May 11, 2015
WiFi did not work. Hotel is old but was clean. The dresser drawer was broken so could not be used. Slight funky odor to the room. Worked for what we needed (location and a bed to sleep in) but for the price I expected a bit more.

Did not have correct type rooms (per our reservation) available, burn holes in sheets, rooms filthy, ashes on bedside table of Non-smoking room, grounds are falling apart, "deluxe breakfast" was awful, cost was outrageous for the quality! Very disappointed that Expedia would recommend this place.

A okay roomPosted May 11, 2015
The coffee pot didn't work, sheets not cleaned or changed. We asked for the Bex to be changed but only received fresh towels. Building is old and ran food. No Meat on the breakfast menu. MO newspaper available. Only n an extreme emergency would I recommend this motel. No iron or board to use for clothes. The front desk clerks were nice and accommodated us and our needs under the circumstances. However no one changed the sheets I slept on top of the blanket, bummer!

Not worth itPosted Mar 12, 2015 on Hotels
The employees were friendly but limited in what they could do. The room was old, dirty and in disrepair.
