Very basic; nice staff but decor needs a refresh

We stayed here for a dinner at nearby Paul Bocuse; location is great, hotel itself is adequate but could be a sweet little place with some updates. The two women staff members we interacted with were very nice; the free wifi worked. Room was very basic; smelled like stale smoke, but we saw signs that the entire hotel had gone smoke-free as of Jan 2013, so it will take awhile for that to have an effect. The room was clean but in need of updates; no decor to speak of, old carpet, outdated lighting but did have a flat screen TV. The restaurant below where breakfast was served (nice spread, 10 E) was modern & pretty; if they can do the same for rooms, this could be a sweet little boutique hotel. It's right on the river and not far to drive to other restaurants, etc.; nothing else really right around. There is a factory complex of some sort right behind the hotel; it didn't smell, just lots of steam coming out and some beeping (windows sealed up OK and air conditioning worked) so not a deal-breaker. There is a good fenced in parking lot right behind the hotel; convenient. All in all, it was adequate and the location what we wanted for our dinner at Bocuse; we took a taxi to and from dinner for about 10-15 Euros each way; expensive for a short ride, but it was totally walkable.

30 days in Europe

Posted May 15, 2012
We originally booked just two days here, but after just one day, decided to stay another night rather than moving on to another town. The staff were all very helpful, and the restaurant was very good. We spent 30 days in France and Italy, and this was one of the three best places we stayed.
