PERFECTLY FRENCH SMALL HOTEL--WONDERFUL STAFF!

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: The Staff and charm. As I do not need a gym and large TVs the lack of these only enhanced my stay. So the room rate was not affected my their upkeep
Cons: The Air Conditioning did not seem to be working very hard.
Location: Visit silk weaving studio to see how family lived in their workshop in late 19C compared to Lumiere brother's, who invented moving pictures, Manson
Hotel Royal is centrally located on the Peninsula between the Soane and Rhone Rivers. It is just across the street from the Metro and many choices for meals and shopping plus short walk to either river. The staff is very friendly, know English and eager to please. The breakfast is lovely, the chef right there to prepare an omelet or eggs to order. Lyon is part of the The Silk Road and influences from the far east are evident in the decorations throughout. My room looked out toward Bellecour Square from perfect French windows. The bed was very comfortable. My only concern for American travelers was the A C. I had it on high although it was only in the 70's as the sun was quite forceful coming in from the east. While I was wearing a light cotton dress, I saw many local residents in heavy coats and scarfs tight to the neck, perhaps people enjoy hotter weather here in Lyon? The bar kept the window closed most of the time and I found the air stuffy although the room itself was welcoming. The Hotel is connected to The Paul Boucuse Institute so be sure to dine there--I had lunch in front of the large window where I could watch the chefs cook and plate up my entree This was one of the highlights of my trip. The concierge in his full morning atire, was delightful, helping me to understand the subway system and mapping out places I wanted to see. I would definitely return to this hotel but not in summer heat.

Excellent position in centre of Lyon

Posted Mar 28, 2015
Pros: Location and excellent staff
Cons: Our junior suite was spacious but a little "tired".
Comfortable room but in need of renovation. Staff were helpful and efficient. We had an excellent lunch in the Paul Bocuse cookery institute next door. Hotel is close to all central attractions.

Fabulous

Posted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: It's style and grandeur
Location: museums, restaurants and shopping.
I loved the Hotel Le Royal - although I do like old style hotels. Le Royal is a little run down but I understand that steps are underway to fully restore it. We had a classic room on the 5th floor with views over the Place Bellecour and the city. The hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance of many of Lyon's attractions. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and the breakfast was good - if a little expensive.

Albergo raffinatissimo in pieno centro

Posted Jan 3, 2015

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Die Toplage am " Place Bellcour ". Das gute Frühstück.
Cons: Eine persönliche Note,
Location: Wie erwähnt an allerbester Lage

Posted Dec 23, 2014
Pros:
Cons:
