“Great spot”

Really nice staff that were super helpful. Also, the room was comfortable and very spacious (massive by European standards) and quiet. And the location was convenient for all the major sites! I would definitely return.

“perfect lccation”

The Hotel and the City of Lyon were great. Lyon is simply beautiful, a little Paris, but much calmer a real charm of a city...............Our hotel was great, B and B was expensive but delicious. Thanks Expedia.

“Great stya”

This is a great hotel in a magnificent part of Lyon. The "old town" is like many others in other cities but they are all lovely places. Be sure to walk through the back alleys and you must walk through the Traboules - the secret lanes used by The Resistance in WW2. The hotel desk is very informnative about this. Rooms are very spacious and breakfast comprehensive.

“Charming little hotel”

Le Phenix is a small hotel made up of three old buildings along the banks of the Saone River in Lyon. It is close to the historic medieval part of the city, therefore a good choice for those who like a good walk and enjoy history. It's quiet and very comfortable for a short stay of a night or two. There are many restaurants nearby, as well, and excellent little bakeries around the corner. The hotel's pretty breakfast room and first floor lounge are filled with light.

“Lovely hotel if you get an OK room”

Be careful. I was first given a first floor dark small room on an alley. I would rate this room dreadful, not worthy of a 3 star hotel. I then asked if they had any rooms on a higher floor. Since they weren't full and they didn't know whether I was an Expedia spy, they gave me a lovely large room on the 3rd floor, overlooking the Seine. This room was a pleasure, with nice chairs to sit in and read if I wanted to. The hotel is very well located on the edge of the old town and next to a bridge into the newer Presque Isle section. There must be 30 to 50 quality restaurants within a 5 - 10 minute walk. From the main railroad station one can take a cab or the C3 Bus to a stop quite close to the hotel.

“A Well-Situtated Boutique Hotel”

Hotel Le Phenix is a well-run hotel. The staff was warm and consistently helpful. Front rooms facing the Saône River could be noisy as there are several nearby late-night clubs and discos. My room (108) faced an ally which also was noisy in spite of the double-pane windows. A room facing the rear seems preferable. The hotel had an attractive, covered courtyard which functioned as a restaurant/breakfast room. The room was spotless and very nicely decorated with tasteful wooden furniture and a refrigerator. All furnishings seemed new. The bed wasn’t quite as firm as I preferred, but after sleeping on it for two nights, I did not need spine surgery. The bathroom was well illuminated and outfitted with a hair dryer, small bathtub, nice shower-head, and shower curtain. The bathroom was gleaming – and seemed new. (Not all rooms have shower curtains so one much squat in the bathtub whilst showering – not uncommon in France. When in France….). There was a heated towel rack so towels dried quickly, as well as clothes after washing them in the sink. Hotel Le Phenix was a well-run, attractive hotel that was well situated for tourism (a short walk to the Vieux-Lyon Metro station – easily accessible from the train station). It would benefit from a clock in the room.

“great romantic stay.”

The place is perfect for a couple get away. The room has so much personality and the location is PERFECT. Romy and confy. We did come back late one evening and were scared because no one was there and we were locked out, but it was just the night staff had gone somewhere for a few minutes, so don't panic but ring the door bell a lot.

“Very well located”

Nice hotel centrally located in between the old Lyon and the shopping district.
