WonderfulPosted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: The hotel is steeped in history & has an amazing restaurant.
Cons: The bathrooms are in need of an update & if the toilets are to remain separate from the bathrooms hand sanitizer or wash basin should be provided.
Location: The location is just fantastic to explore the old town.
We arrived for a one night stop over whilst travelling back to UK.On arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink and a brief history of the wonderful building. We were taken to our room which was rather small but considering the history of the building was acceptable. The bed was most comfortable. The bathroom however was also on the small side with only a hand shower over the bath which was very disappointing. The shower screen was fixed which made it very difficult to reach the taps. The toilet was separate to the bathroom and did not have a wash basin to wash your hands. We dined in the hotel restaurant which was a truly magnificent experience....from the service & the food which was exceptional.

Pros: Part of the old city but with light and views. Outdoor pool and jacuzzi overlooking the city.
Location: 200 steps above the old city, easy walk up to the Roman Ruins.
Lovely hotel above the narrow streets of the old quarter. Beautiful rooms with views and lots of light

OUTSTANDING HOTELPosted Oct 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel is outstanding! We are on an extended driving trip in France & Italy and this hotel is one of the best in all respects. It was especially nice after a stay in Paris in a 5 star hotels.com hotel that wasn't anywhere close to the quality & experience of Villa Florentine. The present manager, Jerone is leaving the first of November to go to a different hotel to manage it for a different company and I personally think it will be a great loss for Villa Florentine and if they are loosing him just because of money, the owners are really stupid! But, right now you can't go wrong!

Unique experience in LyonPosted Jun 17, 2013
Pros: It is more than a hotel. It fits with the whole experience of being in Lyon. It makes it very special.
Cons: The staff is very well intentioned and friendly, but sometimes they lack the level of efficiency that you would expect from a de luxe 5 star hotel.
Location: It is in the middle of old Lyon, in between the two famous cathedrals (Fouvriere and St Jean) on a cliff overlooking the city. Perfect!
It was a wonderful weekend in Lyon. The hotel is gorgeous, centrally located and based on a reformed 17th century monastery. The restaurant is excellent, the swimming pool fantastic and the staff really friendly. I can't see a better place to stay.
