Old school charmPosted Jul 29, 2013
Pros: Location, pool, large room, comfortable bed Clean
Cons: No comment
Location: Hotel in easy walk to main part of city, Great ace to explore- good offerings of nature, Museums, history, and shopping and eatries.
Stayed one night, arrive on train late, so it was great to Walk right across the street, check in and still Get in a late night stroll & beverage. It IS old school style, not brand new in any way. However, it was clean, staff helpful and friendly, and The beds were super comfortable. Pool was a big plus, Too! Price was good.

Close but not very comfortablePosted Jun 16, 2013
Pros: Proximity to the Train Station
Cons: Reception could be a bit more courteous and pleasant, considering the high cost of rent and low coverage of amenities.
Location: Down Station Straat, there are excellent bakeries and coffee shops, at a fraction of what you'd pay in the hotel.
Cool reception, very bare furnishing, slow elevator. The one thing that is going for the hotel is its proximity to the train station, which is literally across the street, so it is easy to find. I didn't use some of the other features of the hotel, like their diner, the pool, etc. But in the rooms, there was not much, besides a shower cap, and soap. The little fridge in the room was completely empty, except for a bottle opener.

Maastricht Amrath Grand HotelPosted Apr 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel is across the street from the Maastricht train station, so it is very convenient to get to by public transportation. It is a short walk to nearby restaurants...and just a little bit further to get to the city center. Their breakfast was good...and of course expensive (as all hotels are these days). My room was quiet, clean and I found it comfortable. Not the cheapest place in town but I felt it was a good value. I would stay here again.

One word: RUNPosted Mar 19, 2013
This is the worse hotel I have ever been to. It is meant to be a a four star hotel, I was expecting a nice place. What a disappointment! They advertise the hotel showing a lovely period stone facade, but actually the hotel is in a huge big 1970's block adjacent to the nice looking part. The lobby, corridors, the lift, the pool, and of course the room: It all looks like an airport 2 stars hotel which has never been decorated since 1970s. The decoration is ghastly, the furniture is outrageous: bedside tables from the 70's are discoloured and have a built in safe (not working of course) and radio. The TV is resting on a plastic top table from the restaurant of the hotel downstairs. We woke up on the Sunday morning to find there was not hot water!! It obviously wasn't the first time as the receptionist didn't seem too worried or embarrassed about it. He was most unhelpful, not even polite, which as quite shocking, as everybody is so nice in the Netherlands. he came up to the room, not to repair, but just to make sure we were saying the truth, as if we didn't know how to use a tap! We were then proposed to go the the floor below to take a shower in a room on a different floor! We then got a call letting us know that the boiler was being reset, and hot water should be back in 5 minutes. By then, we had lost 30 minutes already and were already late to go to our meeting, so we had to leave the hotel without taking a shower. A simple advice: DON'T GO!!!

Do not go therePosted Feb 9, 2013
Cons: The room
Location: Great, the perfect spot!
The breakfast buffet is great but it does not compensate for all the bad things (carpets are really dirty and smelly, the housekeeping is awefull,...).

Tired grand hotel.Posted Jan 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
Despite the grandeur of the building the the interior is begging to look and feel tired. The room was very basic with a recently renovated bathroom. Could have found a much better small, independent hotel for a similar price in the area. Location however is fantastic, directly across from the train/bus station. There is also a rather nice swimming pool on the bottom floor.
