No Air ConditioningPosted Jul 22, 2014
The hotel was within walking distance from the station, the hotel staff were brilliant. However, in the heat wave of last weekend we wished we had known that the Hip Hop rooms did not have air conditioning. The fan was useless and we had a very uncomfortable stay of two nights. What a shame they do not rent some air conditioning units like all the shops seem to have! The cost of the room warrants some further expenditure to resolve this problem.

The Ideal Maastricht HotelPosted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: We liked everything about this hotel! Certainly the ambience, facilities, comfort and food; but especially the warmth and genuineness of the staff.
Cons: In my opinion, nothing needs improving. Some may wish for better wardrobes, but being a B&B, bedrooms are not large and the wardrobes are adequate.
Location: I've already covered location. An excellent Italian restaurant is nearby, also many nice shops, pleasant river bank, river trips and sight-seeing.
The Hip Hotel is effectively additional accommodation for the Townhouse Hotel directly situated opposite it, wherein is the hotel's reception desk, breakfast room and vending machines. Located less than 5 minutes unhurried walk from the mainline railway station, both the Townhouse and the Hip are ideal for the weary or luggage laden traveller. Some excellent restaurants are also within 10 minutes leisurely walk and the city centre is not much further on. We went for the Andre Rieu concert, having taken the train from Schiphol, and despite being over 65 we found it easy to access everything easily from this hotel. It was a second visit for us and it reaffirmed our previous opinion that not only is its location absolutely ideal, and the facilities therein, albeit quite simple, are more than adequate and comfortable. But in our opinion, the genuine warmth of the welcome and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are second to none. Being at this hotel was in itself a real pleasure; it was far more than just a convenient place to stay. We wholeheartedly recommend it, especially the main Townhouse segment.

Not worth itPosted Dec 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
Nice service but hotel building separate from check in/ front desk which is right across the street. Very simple design. Awful selection of TV channels. Nice location close to centre.

Wonderful hotel - great value!Posted Aug 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was exactly what we wanted - it was comparable in price to a hostel, yet it was quiet, private, and very clean. The hotel staff was very friendly. It's a VERY short walk to the bus station, and a short walk (or bike ride!) to the city center. We chose not to have the breakfast as there are several good coffee shops and cafes in the area. Overall, the hotel was perfect for what we wanted!

This hotel was well located for the railway station and the centre of town. The service was fantastic - very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was also very comfortable and well laid out. A good hotel overall.

Quirky, under-furnished. Fabulous breakfast.Posted Feb 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is in Wyck across the river from the old city but that's not a problem - it's only a ten minute walk across the beautiful old bridge (But walk over the modern one so you can see the old bridge.) The room is large - an interior entrance lobby has a sink, coffee machine and kettle - so good for a long stay. The bedroom looks like a teenage designer was given a free hand. Style at the expense of comfort. However, breakfast was wonderful. They throw in a glass of 'bubbly too.
