We had room 345 and were very very annoyed at the noise outside the room as we were located next to some stairs which we could hear every foot step. This would make it hard to sleep and would often keep us awake over our two night stay. The room was also dusty with some bugs in the corner of the room. I have pictures if needed.

As a gold member, the staff couldn’t do anymore to make my daughter’s 18th birthday anymore special. The spa was. Fabulous, outdoor jacuzzi amazing in the very cold wet weather and the coffee shop catered well for gluten and lactose free options. Our Spencer Suite was quiet, Newley renovated with stylish touches and a very homely feel, Eldmis toiletries and a fabulous deep bath and powerful shower, the pillows were amazing and 4 poster bed big enough for 5 people, so very comfortable. The view is the entire courtyard spanning 5 grand windows to the front of the hall. Carringtons delivered a delightful and exceptionally tasty and well presented dinner options. The main bar was quiet, lacking atmosphere and music hardly heard, which kind of spoilt the evening as we would have hoped for a more busier and a bit more personality.

Lift was not working at property which made getting round very hard as the hotel was booked for 2 people in their 80's for a 60th wedding anniversary. Had to check out early due to personal circumstances. Hotel staff said they would reimburse fir the might we missed and they cancelled our last night. Afterwards we never got any reimbursement as the hotel said they were unable to di this. Very disappointed as it ruined their weekend

Loved this place, the grounds, decor, staff and food. We booked a last min stay the day before for a birthday as a family of 3, thought it would be nice to be spontaneous. From entering the spa staff were so nice and guided us the whole way up to reception. It was my husbands birthday and i managed to sneak in a cake and the staff ensured it was kept safe and took it to the restaurant. Ordered a travel cot too and it was in the room 10mins later. We will be fab 💜

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Pleasant staff. Generally good and a very comfortable sleep in a great bed. As I booked at the very last minute due to a problem elsewhere, and through this third party site I did feel the check process was a little confused. It turned out my room needed to be ‘allocated’ and then the room I was ‘allocated’ seemed very far away from reception and had chips in the bath and no luggage rack. None of which was so dreadful as the space was adequate and the hotel is clearly 4/5 stars so for the price £168 it really was quite good value. I’d only say if this hotel wants to put rooms on a third party site then make sure all clients feels cared for and not slightly ‘second’ class. Otherwise I had a very good stay.

The Worst!
Room not ready at 5pm! One person on at the bar all evening, the worse breakfast service and food I've ever had the misfortune to experience. Receptionist didn't even ask 'how was your stay?'. While checking out, a party of three people were grilling the manager on their 'rubbish' weekend.

Great stay
A lovely hotel, spotless and beautiful grounds, the garden at the front of the hotel was a mass of colour. The only downside was having to pay extra if you wanted to use the pool, as a guest I think it should be included in the price.

Very dissapointing
We booked months before the trip from the US to Champneys. We applied for early check in 2:00PM as we had been traveling over 13 hours. We were told no that 3:00PM was the check in time. We were ok with this but when we checked in again at 3:00PM we were told the room was still not ready. After another 40 mins we were told that the room we had originally booked was not available but they would "upgrade us " the upgrade was anything but it was a very tired older room nothing like the room we had booked on line. The whole place was tired looking and no where near depicted in its blog

Very uncomfortable stay
We were in the quiet zone. It was the most noisy stay in any Hotel I have ever had, from 3 am till 7.30 people were screaming and running up and down the corridor. There was only one socket to charge the phones ( for 2 people ). We had to balance the kettle on cases by the socket to boil it. No tea bags in the room. We will never stay in a champneys hotel again.

Disappointing experience
Beautiful building and setting. Customer service was poor, no explanation on services . Reception phone was not answered despite repeated calls. Corrdors were full of trolleys, dirty laundry until.late. Hoover was left outside the bedroom door all.night. Spa area was.on first impressions stunning. However after buying an evening pass, no explanation provoded on what services were available and how to access them. One pool closed, no discount provided. Towel bins were overflowing. No shower gel. Bedroom was comfortable howere hairdryer broken, mug cracked and pillows were so hard. During the night other guests were so loud I was repeatedly woken up and at one point I had someone trying to get in my room, banging on the door and rattling the handle. Breakfast and front of house staff was outstanding and by far the best part of the experience. There is a clear need for customer service training and consideration for facilities training too.

Beautiful hotel fabulous spa.
Had a lovely stay with my daughter it was last minute so only managed to book 2 spa treatments but they were both fantastic. The hotel is beautiful however prices at the bar were a little expensive for what you got and their choice of cocktails was limited. Breakfast was lovely and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

A hostel would be a better option than a stay here
Absolutely awful stay!!! Arrived to find nobody on reception stood around and still nobody turned up, we asked a member of staff walking past and he told us he didn’t work reception and just walked off so we went to find someone to check us in!!! Got to room which we’d booked for 2 adults 1 child to find just one king size bed!!! Asked reception where our daughters bed was she said “well did you request an extra bed?” Silly me I thought as I’d booked a family room for 3 people they’d supply beds for us all without me having to ask!!! The TV wouldn’t work as it had no signal, the air con didn’t work which wasn’t great when the room was hotter than the weather we’d experienced the week before during the heatwave in Turkey and the fan supplied just blew the warm air round!!! We opened the window but couldn’t leave the blinds up as the hotel has disco lights flashing around the spa area all night for some reason!!! Then much to our delight after trying to sleep all night in a sauna at 4am the deliveries started arriving right outside our window by 6 we gave up and got up!!! The hotel is so bad I was actually expecting to be greeted by Basil or Sybil Fawlty at checkout turns out we weren’t greeted by anyone as there was nobody on reception then either!!!

Comfortable stay. Lovely breakfast. The shower screen was broken and so the shower flooded the bathroom floor. The usual mould in the bathroom every hotel seems to have these days. Housekeeping tried to enter our room 2hours before check out, thankfully we had locked the door and put the safety lock on.

I had booked for my daughter and her new husband’s wedding night. Paid for spa access and breakfast. When they turned up for check in Mottram Hall had overbooked so there was nowhere for them to stay. They then had to pay for a taxi home. Incredibly disappointing and sad.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with a staff member bursting into my room at 11pm one night who woke me, I complained about it and to this day despite complaining about it no satisfactory explanation or investigation. Receptionist on checkout no idea of my complaint or what happened, receptionist I reported it to said discuss on checkout. Further problem getting a 20kg case down four flights of stairs, 5 calls to reception for help with no answer, resulted in me lugging it down myself. Insufficient staff on reception. No satisfactory complaint process for the room intrusion, single female travelling alone don’t expect intruders into your room when you are asleep. No bolt lock on door to prevent unwanted intrusions, no safe in room. Inadequate cost arrangements for use of Champneys spa, only available before 10am or after 5pm otherwise 55 pounds per day even if you are a residential guest. Internet not adequate for calling Uber reliant on Wilmslow Taxis with reception to call them. 11 night stay won’t go back. Not five star but five star prices.

Could only get 1 channel on the tv and couldn’t adjust the sound I could hear more from next door than my own. The handle on the toilet was broken in the corridors the wall were very stained there was a table by the lift that had inches of dust on it and the breakfast staff were not very obliging when it came to dietary requirements. The hotel looks magnificent from the outside but inside it’s very tired, the signing from the bottom car park is not very clear where reception is there were four people trying to check in at the spa and had to be diverted to reception all in all it was a very disappointing visit

On arrival from the car park it is not clearly sign posted that you have to walk back up the hill to reception. Various people in our party ended up trying to gain entrance through the spa. The floors are confusing with where rooms are. There was a table in a hall way with so much dust on it someone has actually written clean me on it. The walls have water marks on. Once you get in the room I had no bin, there was so signal in my room at all. I had a the view of a brick wall which when paying those prices you expect to see more than a wall. When I tried to put a plug in the wall behind the bed, it was loose. There were a couple of stains on the sheets. For the overall price of the hotel I would say that the rooms are looking tired. Another member of our party the toilet flush was hanging on by a thread. The exterior of the building is absolutely beautiful but I think work inside needs to be done to match it.

We love this hotel, and will stay there again. Couple of niggles this time - 1) I booked 3 rooms; two were next to each other and the third was miles away right on the other side of the hotel. 2) We hadn't booked the restaurant as our plans were fluid - we were told that the restaurant was fully booked when we got there, but could eat at the golf club bar. Went there to find they'd already stopped serving. Had a lovely dinner in Prestbury . . .

Stayed as a couple for a night away.. checked in and spent an hour and half (15 phone calls) to reception, operator and restaurant only To be told they didn’t do room service. Staff weren’t pleasant when sorting everything either. Room was by the SPA and had no air conditioning so had to keep the window open. There was builders In for an hour when we checked in and people walking late at night.. Wouldn’t recommend.

Basically the hotel is nothing more than a travel-inn with some fancy extras such as tea, coffee and shower gel etc…..but set in fantastic surroundings. The staff did try but the hotel management was nonexistent.

very disappointing stay at what is supposed to be a top hotel. Superior de-luxe room, very small, dust on surface's, smelt damp, not fresh and very stuffy. Bathroom floor had marks including foot prints all over and there was black mould around shower screen. Most uncomfortable ever

Lovely hotel, lovely room, lovely grounds. Some of the staff were not what I would call customer engaging. Breakfast was delivered cold. No information at reception regarding spa packages and told to look online or go to the spa.
