Great locationPosted Nov 9, 2013
Pros: The location and the breakfast
Cons: The rooms were a little tired and dated. The welcome drink is them trying to seel you timeshare, go for the free drink, ignore the sales pitch.
Location: Easy access by hire car and has underground car park
The hotel was great the reception staff were very friendly, the main rooms were really well presented and the breakfast was great. The location is great, you can easliy walk into Funchal (10 mins from the centre) and see the old town, or walk the other way to Lido for alternative restaraunts (about 5 mins).

Good location hotelPosted Sep 15, 2013
Pros: Location to everything. Food excellent.
Cons: Air conditioning quite dated and you could hear the people in the bathroom next door through the adjoining door.
Location: Plenty of tours on offer to other parts of the island. Good deals as they are all competing against each other. Also hop on and hop off buses.
Very good location, excellent food. Please note those less able it is on a fairly steep incline. However transport system very good in Madeira and there are plenty of taxis and tours. Local buses also very good, they cover most of the island. Tropical garden good and the glass bottom view point. Can get wet and windy in the mountains so take a jacket.

Quiet hotel for adults with good servicePosted May 26, 2013
Pros: Service, location, quiet adults only, newly redecorated common areas
Cons: Superficial room cleaning, dated and cramped room
Location: Great for restaurants, buses, and close to music "Conservatorie" who put on free concerts by students
The main areas, spa and pool have been very recently redecorated and are very elegant. We did not use the spa services but the steam room and sauna were available to residents and we used these after a day on our feet. The inside/outside pool is on the cooler side of warm, and the outside pool was cold - too cold for us to use in May. The inside/outside pool had a Jacuzzi section you could switch on and off yourself. The breakfast is very good, and includes exotic fruit, cereals, bread and toast, cold meats and cheese and a cooked breakfast. The dining room has a lovely view across to the sea. Most evenings there was entertainment in the bar-guitar/singer a couple of nights, pianist for a couple of nights and one night an excellent hour of traditional Madeiran singing and dancing in costume, including audience participation! You can pay for this at other places so having it on our doorstep was great. I found the free WiFi code worked both in communal areas and in our room. The room itself had a garden view. It was a little cramped, had only one chair, and although freshly painted the furniture was a little dated. There was a large crack in the tiles over the bath. The room cleaning was superficial and a little disappointing. The hotel is adults only, and for most of our week was wonderfully quiet and restful. The location is convenient for buses and restaurants. The staff are very helpful. I would recommend it.
happy stay in madeiraPosted Aug 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
we really enjoyed our stay here - relaxed approach and free parking. Breakfast fine but a little old fashioned. Hotel was at the top of a short incline which may be awkward for people with mobility issues but overall fine.

A great introduction to our Madeira visit. The desk manager was very helpful in helping us retrieve our lost luggage from the airport.

Comfortable hotel and nice room with balcony overllooking the pool and some sight of the sea. Main road not far, so accessible to buses to Funchal.
