Our AC wasn't working as it should. It was just too hot in our room. Would be nice to have more times available for our shuttle bus since it's a bit far from city center. First shuttle bus it too late and later at night there is none. Parking is also limited. The staff is just wonderful.

Perfect stay. Paradise! Everything was perfect. Room was spacious. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. We stayed 5 nights, but on the 4th night we got upgraded to the higher floor with breath-taking view of Funchal Bay. Excellent breakfast. Relaxing spa. Free shuttle to/from Funchal city center. Special thank you for Tanya, Victor, shuttle driver and breakfast team. Will stay there again if we have a chance.

Nice place, beautiful views.
A really nice hotel. Quite a hike to town but well worth it for the views, and taxis are cheap in any case. Breakfast is good but don't bother with the restaurant for dinner. Much better options in town for food.

Lovely Stay
An absolutely beautiful hotel, although the exterior is looking a little tired in places. Would recommend for a romantic stay but it is quite far from the centre so you'll need to get a taxi back in the evenings.

Boutique style hotel with home comforts
This was our first visit to Madeira which started off badly as we had to divert to Tenerife due to high winds. We eventually arrived at the Quinta Mirabela one day later. The tourist maps of the island are not very detailed so it was just as well there were sign posts to the hotel off the main road. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room which was one of the superior rooms with balcony. I had asked for a quiet room and we were positioned at the far end of the corridor was perfect really. The room was very well appointed and the view breathtaking. There were a couple of small issues with the lights and bath which were rectified immediately and without fuss. The breakfasts are really rather good and we did have a couple of evening meals in the restaurant which were above average compared to most of the hotels I stay in. Of course, a visit to Madeira is not complete without sampling one of the many fine restaurants in Funchal. We had a very relaxing stay at Quinta Mirabella. Overall the hotel was superb and the standard of service first class. We hope to return some day to finish off our exploration of the island.

Lovely friendly hotel. Great breakfast. Amazing views of funchal and the sea. Its halfway down the tobagon run so you need your wits about you when you leave the hotel. Excellent afternoon tea and spa facilities. A stiff thirty min walk down the hill to centre but well worth it Leave your high heels at home but enjoy a very special place

Just the right size
We booked this hotel partly due to a good rate and other reviews. We were not at all disappointed, the staff were helpful and friendly and the whole atmosphere was calm and comfortable. During our stay we visited two of the larger Funchal hotels and realized that staying in a quality small hotel was by far the better choice. We would not hesitate to recommend Quinta Mirabela. We hired a car to better discover Madeira, the location was ideal to explore without having to battle through Funchal every day although we did visit the town most evenings. We also found the food to be of a good standard but not too formal and reasonably priced, through choice we dined in the hotel five nights and one lunch during the week.

Small but Perfect
I read the various reviews about this hotel from a number of web sites and chose the hotel based solely on those reviews. First and foremost, the positive elements of the hotel. The hotel manager is just brilliant and very, very accommodating. We had a bit of a glitch regarding our stay which meant staying an additional night at the hotel and our flights being changed. The manager sorted out our flights and we were able to stay an additional night at the same reduced rate. The hotel is advertised as a 'design hotel' and I think in the UK we are more used to the term 'boutique hotel'. It's decor is certainly comtemporary. Perhaps due to it being February, the spa area wasn't used much during our stay by other residents. All it took was a call to reception to fire up the turkish baths and the sauna and within 15 minutes, the facilities were fully functioning. The gym area has several bits of equipment, rowing machine, treadmill, cross-trainer, bike, and there is also a multi-purpose weight machine. The water fountain (in the gym) could probably do with replacing as there is a bit of algae in it - probably because it is not used that much and when the sun does stream through the windows, it probably hits the water fountain! One very, very, small observation. The water tasted ok though! All areas are exceptionally clean! This is a small hotel and therefore you get a personal service - which is great! The location is a challenge though. Have run out of words!

Well presented hotel and yet reasonable price
extremely satisfied with all aspect of hotel. Just 22 rooms and incredible facility & level of service to match. Only disadvantage is location of hotel. It is located on steep hill between Funchal city & Monte.No places to go within walking distance. However, bus service & bus pass price is very good. Taxi required from airport (about 30 euros)View of city & harbour is amazing. Food is incredible. Breakfast is buffet & ala carte included in price with champagne.

Magnifique hôtel à taille humaine. Situé en hauteur, il bénéficie d'une vue incroyable sur Funchal. Le personnel est très professionnel et accueillant. Le restaurant est de grande qualité et d'un très bon rapport qualité-prix. C'est un endroit parfait pour se reposer loin des foules de touristes.

Det lader til at en del af hotellets forretningsmodel er at sælge værelser, som ikke er ledige. Havde læst en tidligere anmeldelse af hotellet, hvor værelset ikke var til rådighed ved ankomst og de var blevet tilbudt/ flyttet til et andet hotel. For vores vedkommende havde vi booket et superior værelse med balkon på Hotels.com flere måneder i forvejen og havde kommunikeret flere gange direkte med hotellet på telefon og mail vedr. Gallamiddag juleaften - og alligevel var der "kun" et standard værelse til rådighed, hvilket vi først fandt ud af ved selvsyn da vi kom op på værelset og ikke kunne finde balkonen - Derefter blev vi tilbudt et værelse på et andet hotel... Da vi havde booket med en discount på Hotels.com havde vi som det mindste forventet at få en tilsvarende rabat på standard værelset, men nej - vi kunne få refunderet forskellen på det vi havde betalt for vores superior værelse og listeprisen på et standardværelse... hvilket svarede til 5 Euro pr. dag ud af en samlet betaling på 890 euro for 7 overnatninger. Jamen tak for det... PS: Et tysk par, som ankom dagen efter os fortalte at de ved indtjekning fik at vide at de på trods af reservering og betaling forud, ikke kunne få et værelse da alt var optaget, men de kunne få et værelse på et andet hotel... De fastholdt dog deres krav og fik... et standardværelse uden udsigt og uden balkon.

La cosa che abbiamo apprezzato di più è stata la navetta che collegava l'hotel a funchal per il resto un po' una delusione:la colazione un po' misera le stanze non eccezionali , ci eravamo fidati delle recensioni ma siamo rimasti delusi sicuramente non una "Quinta " da 5 stelle

Toller Blick aus den Zimmern über die Bucht von Funchal.Sehr gutes Frühstück mit frischen Früchten. Das Hotel liegt untweit des Monte wobei sich leider nicht auf die Busse von Madeira verlassen kann. Ein Mietwagen empfielt sich oder aber man nimmt an den vielen angebotenen Ausflügen teil.

Hotel mit fantastischer Aussicht
Das Hotel liegt mehr als 300 Höhenmeter über und rund 2 km von der Altstadt von Funchal entfernt. Die Straße in die Altstadt ist sehr steil. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden. Das Hotel bietet zweimal täglich einen Shuttleservice in die Altstadt an. Das Hotel ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung der Insel mit einem Mietwagen oder vor Ort gebuchten Tagestouren.

Toller Blick über Funchal
Wir waren für eine Woche in der Quinta Mirabela und haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist nicht ganz einfach bei der ersten Anfahrt dieses Hotel oberhalb Funchals zu finden, es liegt recht steil am Hang an Route der Holzschlittenfahrten vom Monte. Das Frühstück mit großer Obstauswahl ist sehr gut, aber besonders waren wir von dem Abendessen angenehm überrascht.

super Service mit fulminanten Blick auf Funchal
Ein sehr schönes, modernes Hotel - die Zimmer ein wenig klein - aber der Blick auf Funchal und das Meer - unbezahlbar! Das Hotelrestauranr war auch sehr gut und Preis/Leistung stimmte. Frühstück gabs im windgeschützten Innenhof, im November sehr gut.

Geschmackvolles Hotel mit einmaliger Aussicht
Kleines feines Hotel mit einem einmaligen Blick über Funchal. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Für 5 Sterne fehlt es ein bisschen an Kleinigkeiten, also eher 4 Sterne erwarten und dann passt es. Frühstück ist sehr lecker!

Schönes kleines Hotel mit traumhaften Ausblick
Schönes kleines Hotel mit traumhaften Ausblick auf Funchal von einer riesengroßen Terrasse. Insgesamt ein guter Startpunkt für Ausflüge nach Funchal und Monte (botanischer Garten und Korbschlitten fussläufig). Zimmer etwas in die Jahre gekommen, Fernseher eher ein Vorkriegsmodell - aber an sich möchte man den im Urlaub ohnehin eher selten nutzen. Freundliches Personal. Insgesamt nicht das beste Haus auf Madeira, aber doch eines, was man guten Gewissens empfehlen kann.

Séjour de 4 jours en cet hotel,choisi pour son nombre de chambres raisonnable. Personnel sympa.Belles prestations. Petits déjeuners et restauration de qualité. Le point négatif:son accès difficile,aussi bien à pieds qu'en voiture. Situation en haut de Funchal,rien à proximité pour se restaurer. Le client est captif:dommage!

Wirklich schönes Hotel mit sehr freundlichem und zuvorkommendem Personal. Wunderschöne Lage am Hang etwas unterhalb von Monte mit wundervollem Ausblick, dadurch allerdings mit etwas weiterem Weg zum Zentrum Funchals (aber mit Bus und Shuttleservice kein Problem)

Très bon hôtel mais mérite- il 5 étoiles ?
Pour un séjour de 3 nuits, nous avons été logés dans une chambre avec balcon juste au dessus de la piscine, jolie vue, tranquillité mais à mon avis il vaut mieux éviter ces chambres lorsque la piscine est utilisée car les baigneurs et les personnes installées en terrasse ont une vue directe dans les chambres. Nous avons mangé deux fois au restaurant de l'hôtel et nous avons été très satisfait du service et ce qui nous a été servi était bon et très bien présenté.

Sehr gute Ausstattung und Aussicht auf Funchal zu allen Tageszeiten. Gehobenes Restaurant mit leckerem Essen und aufmerksamen Service. Hohe Lage, ca. 400 m, bei engen Serpentinen und steilen, schmalen Straßen gewöhnungsbedürftig für "Flachländer" wie wir, aber sehr gute Anbindung an Funchal-Zentrum über Hotelbusservice und auch mit öffentlichen Bussen/Taxis gut erreichbar.

Nous avons eu du mal à trouver l'hôtel. Et pas de chance, une voiture nous a éraflé l'arrière de notre voiture sans laisser d'adresse n'ai un mot sur le parking de l'hôtel la nuit. Sinon, nous avons passé n bon séjour dans cet hôtel.

Bon séjour mais quelques remarques...
A l'arrivée, accueil attentionné et souriant. En nous présentant succinctement les choses à voir dans le coin, on nous informe que le paiement du séjour est d'ores et déjà effectué (avec la CB stipulée lors de la reservation). Mauvaise surprise de ne pas devoir régler la chambre à la fin des 8 jours du séjour, avec les extras. D'autant plus mauvaise que nous ne souhaitions pas régler avec la CB précisée à la réservation... Le restaurant de l'hôtel est une très bonne table, un très bon cuisinier! Son service est de moindre qualité, un peu distrait, avec un café commandé qu'on attend toujours. Le petit déjeuner en buffet est correct, complet, mais la qualité des produits est cependant moyenne. Organisation d'un dîner typique de Madère, un vrai régal, somptueux. Les 5* méritées pour cette table! Concernant la chambre, on est plus dans du 4*, quelques finitions bâclées dans l'ouvrage. Décoration sobre, épurée (peut-être un peu trop?). Ménage de la chambre: très bien. On accède à la chambre avec une carte, qui alimente aussi l'alimentation electrique de sa chambre. Bien mais si une personne souhaite sortir, c'est sans la carte sinon celui qui reste sera dans le noir! La literie est excellente. En général, très bon séjour dans cet établissement avec sa terrasse et sa vue somptueuse sur le port, vraiment magnifique. Cependant, on sent quelques faiblesses pour un établissement affichant 5*

Très bien, hôtel très bien situé, belle vue sur funchal. Le personnel très sympathique, piscine, petit déjeuner très bien, etc On mange très bien, je vous conseille de manger à l'hôtel, très bonne cuisine. Le moins bon, just le bruit des chaises sur la terrasse, sur notre chambre. Pour un 5 étoiles pas bien.

Un choix que l'on ne peut pas regretter
Hôtel très calme. Personnel parlant pour une part suffisante le français et très disponible. Chambre très agréable et bien équipée. Bonne literie. Petit déj. très copieux et bon, particulièrement pour qui aime les fruits exotiques en complément. Hotel très propre et paraissant récent. Nous n'avons pas utilisé les équipements annexes: piscine, salle de sport, ... mais il existent. Belle vue sur Funchal sans les nuisances du centre ville. Accès rapide à la voie Est-Ouest qui dessert l'ile, ce qui avait guidé notre choix. Seul bémol: une difficulté certaine à trouver l' établissement et à circuler dans les rues environnantes dont les pentes sont pour ainsi dire vertigineuses. A savoir : une navette est organisée par l'hôtel jusqu'au centre ville. Aux conditions obtenues sur le site, c'est à dire très-très en dessous du tarif de base, c'est un très bon plan (du 4 au 13 avril). Sur les même bases de facturation, notre prochain voyage sur l'ile aura le même point de chute. D'un point de vue plus anecdotique, on sent dans tous les supports de communication de l'hôtel que la clientèle ciblée est plus germanophone ou anglophone que francophone. Ne nous vexons pas ! (puisque nous n'avons pas étés moins bien traités...)

Vi hade en jättefin vistelse på Quinta Mirabela.God service, mat och personal. Fantastisk utsikt men priset för den fina utsikten är att man måste gå ner/upp för en kilometer lång gata som påminde oss om en störtloppsbacke! God träningsmöjlighet om man laddar för tex ett maraton!
